《From Another Time (FrUK)》3

"Aren't you hungry Francis?"
"No, plus, I do not like eating someone's sloppy seconds," I laughed. "That hurt, but I'm sure Lukas wouldn't mind," Lucile laughed. "Do I look like Lukas? Just finish up so we can go already," I glared. "Gosh, big brother, you are so grumpy tonight," she laughed. I personally did not like feasting in public areas. Although it was an empty parking lot, there could be cameras. Lucille threw the human body to the side and wiped her face clean. "Ahhhh, they taste better when they are scared.... it has this taste to it that I can't explain," she smiled walking towards me.
"Let's just hurry up and leave already, I am bored," I said, annoyed. "OH MY GOD, WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?" Lucille and I turned around quickly to see a woman kneeling beside the man. "Oh man, we were caught. What shall we do?" Lucille hummed. I looked at the woman taking out her phone, probably to call 112. "You know what, I think I am a little hungry," I said seriously. Lucille began to cheer with glee as I ran toward that frail human woman.
~Arthur POV~
"Are there any cameras in the parking lot that we can take a look at?" I asked the mall's security. "No, only on the inside," The security man said. I felt a little annoyed but still managed to stay calm. This was my first day on the field, and already a body was found. I walked over to where Gilbert was, and I knelt beside him. "What do you see?" I asked.
"Well, the woman and man's head was punctured by these teeth marks. I would need to see if there are any traces of blood left, but even then, the coagulation of blood is not showing. So again, there is a good chance this is another victim."

"We might need to tell the city to put orders that people are not allowed outside after dark. This could be a lot more dangerous than we expected," I said, confused. I looked at the bite marks, and my eyes widened. "Hey, you should look at that bite mark more closely," I spoke.
Gilbert turned the victims head and started to look at the bite. "It is like a human's jaw....but with large fangs.... that doesn't make sense. I think I'll need to compare this bite to the other ones." He said, shocked. I'm guessing he never noticed that before; I mean, why would he suspect a human to be responsible? "If you can, maybe there are traces of DNA left on the victim to be analyzed. Can you do that for me?" I asked. "Yes, of course, I'll be on it, and once I get something, I will run it with Antonio to look at the system."
I nodded at him as he walked off, telling the people to wrap up the body in a body bag. "What do you got for me?" I asked another police officer. "Their IDs were on them, so we might be able to figure out what they were doing before they died," the man said. "Great, give these to Antonio back in the department," I ordered. They nodded at me and did as I said. I needed to question people around the area to see if they saw or heard anything from last night.
The chilly air made me shiver as I looked into the wooded area with nearby houses. I wonder what kind of animal would have done this... if it was an animal. "Arthur, we are heading back; what will you do?" Gilbert asked. "I'm going to question people in the area; I will let you know what happens later," I spoke. "Alright then, be careful." He waved me goodbye.

Once everyone left, I got into my car and drove to one of the nearby neighborhoods. It was the closest one by the parking lot, so I figured it would be best to start there. I stopped at the first house and knocked on the door to ask for someone. This continued for an hour or two until I made my way to the last nearby house.
I knocked on the door, and I was soon met by a man who looked around my age. "Hello, I am detective Kirkland; I just wanted to ask if you heard a strange sound or saw anything strange last night?" I asked, showing my badge and putting it away. "Hmmm....? Are you from England? I swear there is this small accent in your voice," the man smiled, looking at me. "That doesn't matter right now. Would you be willing to answer some questions?" I asked. The man looked at me with a smile. He stepped to the side and gestured for me to come in.
I slowly walked in as he gestured for me to take a seat. "Alright, ask me anything," he smirked. "Uhh..... so can I get your name, please."
"Francis Bonnefoy..."
"Alright... when were you born?" There was a slight pause before he finally answered.
" July 14, 1995."
"Where do you work?"
"I am a journalist at a newspaper in the city."
"So, what were you doing last night?" I asked curiously.
"I was here with my little sister; she is a college student and came into town for the weekend." He smiled.
"Alright then, did you hear or see anything strange last night," I asked.
Francis smiled, looked at me, and started to drink from this bottle that looked like red wine. "You smell good; what kind of body wash is that? Or maybe cologne? No.... it is body wash. Maybe cucumber?" He asked. I lifted my brow a little confused and nodded. "Yeah... I just grabbed whatever at the store." I said, shrugging. "Ahhh.... you must always be in a rush." He smiled.
"Do you have a girlfriend? Or family here in France.... I mean, you are from England, right?"
"I do not, but I'm the one asking questions. Please answer my last question," I ordered. He sat back in his chair, nodding. "I didn't hear or see anything," he shrugged.
"Hmmmm.... alright then, I will be seeing my way out," I spoke, standing up. He nodded, standing up as well.
"You must be new; what kind of case is this?" He asked.
"I don't think I'm allowed to disclose that kind of information with you," I said, annoyed. "Right..... I think I know," he said. I felt a little confused but shrugged it off. He is a journalist, so he was just being a nosey one. "Have a good day, and stay safe," I spoke
"You too....detective."

City of Captives
In the Qursan Empire, the grey walls of the City press down on its subjects. It is a highly divided society which is based on the magical strength of its citizens. While the most powerful are trained as Mages, the majority of citizens use their limited skills with Essence to power the City in their assigned jobs. Jano is pretty much the lowest of the low in the Qursan Empire. A Class Ten citizen forced into transitory work after having his power restricted. When he gets the opportunity to change all of that, he takes it with both hands. This is a slow burning progression fantasy. Please expect at least two chapters per week. I love writing this story but I do have unfortunate things to deal with like work and life outside of writing. I may be able to write and edit more than that, but it will never be less! This is largely still a draft. I hope to use any comments and reviews in the future. Thanks for reading!
