《Spencer Reid Imagines ✔️》Jealous (part 1)

I take a sip of my coffee, smiling at the boy across from me. I met him yesterday in a book store. He's really cute and just my type. I've been trying to get over Spencer, ever since I joined the team, i've had a really big crush on him. I know he would never like me back though. I have resorted to going on dates with other people because I know I can't have him. I have to get my mind off of him somehow.
"So, Ethan, i'm sure my whole team will be really excited to meet you tonight." I say, referring to the fact that I am taking him with me as my date tonight to the bar.
"Yeah! I'm excited to meet them! I heard there's a guy that can read 20,000 words per minute on your team? That's crazy." he brings up Reid. The one person I don't want to talk about.
"Uh, yeah. That's Dr. Spencer Reid. Anyways, do you want to get going? This coffee is good but drinks sound good to me too." I giggle taking him by the arm.
"Sure! Let me pay quick." He pulls his wallet out and puts cash out on the table, leaving extra tip.
"Such a gentleman." I bow and laugh as I come back up, my hair flying back in the air.
Ethan grabs me by the waist and pulls me closer to him as we walk back to the car. He really does make me happy but all I can think about is how it would feel if a certain doctor was holding me this way. I look down to see Ethan has interlaced oue fingers. I squeeze his hand slightly causing him to look down at me.
"You're pretty cute." I say, the corners of my lips tugging up a little.
"You're cuter, (Y/N)." He stares at me while opening the car door for me to get in.
I step in and kiss him on the cheek as I do before he closes the door, striding over to his side. He starts to drive and places his hand on my knee as he does. I sigh, happy to be here with him but still frustrated that I keep thinking of Spencer. We arrive at the bar and Ethan helps me out of the car, threading his arm through mine. I spot Morgan's car in the parking lot, happy i'm not the first one here.
I walk in with Ethan on my arm and tell the receptionist that we are here for Morgan. She smiles and leads us to the table where Garcia, Morgan and Prentiss all are seated. I clench my jaw at the absence of Reid. It's strange that he isn't here yet. He's normally punctual in these situations. I give all of my team memebers a hug before introducing Ethan.

"Everyone, this is Ethan. He's my date tonight. He's been very excited to meet you guys for the past month." I smile looking from him back to everyone.
"A secret boyfriend that you didn't tell me about? How dare you (Y/N)?" Emily gasps as she stands up and gives the man a hug, introducing herself.
Everyone sits back down and Morgan talks sports with Ethan while I sit and listen to Garcia, going off about her outing with Kevin last night. The woman really is something. Prentiss was out in the middle of the dance floor already, dancing with some guys who she doesn't know. The waitress brings me my drink and I cuddle up next to Ethan. I hear the jangling of keys coming towards us and look up to see Spencer walking towards our table.
"Pretty Boy! We've missed you! Where you been?" Derek practically shouts, clearly on his third drink.
"I... I got stuck in traffic. Uh... sorry." Spencer starts to jumble his words once he sees Ethan sitting next to me.
"Well? Come here so we can introduce you to (Y/N)'s new mans." Garcia jokes, waving Reid over.
Spencer keeps checking his phone, not looking interested in meeting Ethan one bit. He comes over and takes a seat next to Emily's empty one. He looks up as he puts his phone on the table, face down. Ethan extends his hand to greet the new member of the table. Spencer doesn't take it.
"I don't really shake hands." He says coldly. He stands up and goes to the bar, ordering something I couldn't quite understand.
Emily comes back from the dance floor and sees the doctors keys and phone on the table next to her stuff. As she is complaining that Reid didn't come and get her to say hi, he comes back to the table with three shots of tequila. Morgan tries to take one but he swats his hand away. Three shots of tequila? All for himself? What the hell?
"SPENCER! WHY DIDNT YOU SAY HI TO ME? ALSO WHERES JJ?" Emily screams at him, making him crack a smile.
"Sorry Emily, I couldn't find you. I figured you'd come back soon enough for me to say hi. JJ couldn't be here tonight remember? She's on a date night with Will!" He laughs at the drunk woman who is practically tripping over her own feet as he helps her sit down.
The moment his gaze falls back over Ethan and I, his smile fades and he tenses up at the sight of us cuddling. The only other time I've seen him act this way was when Emily faked her death. Or the time that he was on his drugs. He's never this passive aggressive.
"Hey, Spence, are you good?" I smile touching his forearm, only for him to rip his arm away from me.

"I'm fine, (Y/N)." He takes one of his shots immediately after he says that.
Spencer leaves to go sit at the bar. The bartender tries to have a conversation with him but he just ignores him and downs the other two shots he ordered, followed by him buying three more. I'm really worried about him. He never acts this way. Did he relapse?
I stand up and tell Ethan i'm going to go talk to Prentiss really quick, who had ventured out into the dance floor again. I locate the gorgeous but very drunk woman dancing with some college boy and pull her aside.
"Hey, has Reid said anything to you lately?" I ask a strange look forming on my face.
"No, why?" She asked still smiling and holding a margarita.
"He's been acting really strange tonight. I don't know if he relapsed or if I did something. I know he talks to you about stuff so I was just wondering if he said something to you." I look back towards the bar and see him pulling at his tie. He looks pissed off and uncomfortable. He keeps glancing back at Ethan and then shaking his head, downing more shots.
"(Y/N), i'm sure he's fine. Whatever it is, he'll get over it. Now party, we're here to have fun!" She shimmies a bit before walking away from me again.
I walk back over to Ethan and see Reid has returned to his spot at the table.
"Is he alright?" Ethan asks me. He said it loud enough for Spencer to hear though because he stood up abruptly.
"I'm fine man. You don't need to check up on me. I'm a grown ass man. I don't need people worrying about me. If I were you, I'd pay more attention to my girlfriend instead of trying to befriend all of her coworkers. She deserves more attention than you are giving her, asshole." He doesn't stutter once.
I sit in shock at all of the words that just came out of his mouth. Ethan stands up and walks towards him. He tilts his head up before speaking, his face extremely close to Spencer's. Spencer doesn't loom scared though, in fact he looks like he's ready to take the man on in a wrestling match. We all know he couldn't do that.
"You should mind your own business, because I don't think you're in your right mind at the moment Dr. Six Shots of Tequila. She's my girlfriend and I will handle it." Ethan says calmly.
"Hey, there's no need to fight guys. I-" I try to interject but Spencer continues on.
"Well, I think if you loved her as much as I do, you'd be talking with her and paying more attention to her rather than talking sports with Morgan. (Y/N) deserves so much better than you. You know that?" Spencer yells, earning him a punch in the face from Ethan.
I scream pushing Ethan off of Spencer who's on the ground now. At this point we seem to have gained an unnecessary audience. Everyone is gathered around watching. I give everyone a glare and rush over to Spencer. He has a cut on his cheek and he's bleeding. I pull Ethan off of him and stand him up, placing a hand on his chest.
"I think you should leave now." I tell him, as he gives me a face of frustration.
"You want me to leave?! Seriously, (Y/N)? I never should've gone out with you in the first place." He shouts, slamming his hands on a table and shoving into people as he makes his way to the door.
I pull Spencer to his feet and tell the rest of the team goodnight before taking him to his car. I only had one drink and that was hours ago and there's no way he can drive himself home. I put his arm around my shoulder and help him into the front seat. He smiles at me and before long he's staring at me with a big grin on his face while i'm buckling him into his seatbelt.
"What?" I laugh at him.
"You're just smokin hot (Y/N)." He tries to kiss me.
"Alright so," I pull away from him before he can kiss me while taking his keys out from his pocket. "What i've learned tonight is that, when Dr. Reid is drunk, he's both aggressive and a flirt." I slide into the front seat and turn the ignition before stepping on the gas back to his apartment.
"I am not aggressive." He argues with me, still studying me. His mouth is slightly open and his tongue keeps running over his bottom lip.
"What would you call that back there then? A small quarrel? You got punched in the face Spence. And for what? Me? Why'd you do that?" I ask him, my eyes focused on the road, even when he tries to rest his hand on my thigh. I move his hand away and glance over at him, waiting for an answer.
"Because I love you, (Y/N)." He looks out the front windshield.
Just as I thought this was going to be a sweet and sentimental moment, the tall man leans over in the seat and barfs all over his car floor. He sits back up and immediately starts apologizing.
"Hey, it's okay, it's okay. Let's just get you inside. We can clean that up in a minute okay. Shh. It's alright." I give him a gentle smile before parking his car in the complex parking lot.
I walk over to the other side of the car and begin to help him out.

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]
