《The Bookworm {Jasper X Reader}》The Awakening

You could hear faint voices in the distance, they sounded like the people were all in various states of anger and they seemed to argue with each other. You tried to open your eyes to see what was going on, or move anything for that matter, but you found you were too weak to move at all. The only 'movement' you could do was to cough. And you coughed a lot, water pouring out of your mouth. The voices stopped as soon as you had shown signs of life and you heard something drop to the ground with a sharp tingle.
Then something landed next to you with a heavy thud and your hand was lifted off the ground. Now that your lungs weren't filled with water anymore and oxygen was allowed to pour into your body once more, your muscles actually started listening to you. You took in a few sharp breaths.
You slowly opened your eyes only to see Jasper kneeling next to you, holding your hand in both of hers. She was crying. You smiled at her to show you were okay, or at least you thought you will be. Then you looked past her. The Crystal Gems were standing there, looking at you, worry in their eyes. For some reason they had their weapons out.
"Jasper" you said, your voice weak and shaky "what happened? Are you okay?"
"Yes I am! A-and you're too! I can't believe you're really alive." she lifted your hand to her face and snuggled against it.
You slowly sat up and had a better look around you. There was a lot of water on the boardwalk, but the one who caused it wasn't there. "Where... is she?"
Jasper froze and tensed up. She looked behind her and pointed at the ground. There was Lapis' gem, lying on the ground. It had a crack on it.

"Why is it-"
"She tried to kill you. So I tried the same on her. It was the fair thing to do, don't you think? And it would've worked, if it wasn't for them!" she growled and looked at the three gems who were just standing there, their weapons were now gone. You started to piece things together.
"You poofed her before I drowned... and then you wanted to shatter her?"
Jasper nodded.
"But they came here and stopped you."
"Yes, but they can't see I had the right to do it! She would've murdered you (Y/n)!"
Garnet took a few cautious steps forward "Jasper. I know you're angry, but we told you when you joined us that shattering is not how Crystal Gems handle things. It's not our way."
"B-but she- say something (y/n)!"
"I... agree with Garnet actually."
Jasper gasped and her grasp on your hand loosened.
"I know that you really wanted to get revenge and return the pain, but I'm alright. I didn't die. And neither should she."
Jasper's brows furrowed. If it was in anger, or she was just thinking, you weren't sure.
Pearl and Amethyst picked up the cracked blue gem and carried her towards the temple, probably for Steven to heal it. Garnet stood there for a while and then nodded lightly towards you before walking off as well.
Jasper still had that weird look on her face. Then she stood up without a word and left, walking opposite of the temple.
"Jasper? Jasper wait! Where are you going?"
No answer.
You wanted to stand up and pursue her, ask her what's wrong, but you were still far too weak to do that. So you just sat there and watched as she went further and further away from you.

Lone: The Wanderer [Dropped Version (includes original draft of the rewrite's first volume)]
Nine-to-five. The daily grind. Life. Painful years of school. Working as a slave for some undeserving corporate big-wig. The monotonous life of unemployment. We all experience this in one way or another, and we can all conclude one thing: it's dull. Such a fact rings true even for the fabled Lone Immortus, a powerful nine-tailed Golden Foxkin. However, what would you do if your monotony was suddenly ground to a halt and you were thrown out of your comfort zone along with a young girl forgotten by time? Perhaps you might have done things differently, been more organised, immediately died, gained control of the world in a matter of days, but this is Lone's tale, not yours. Watching two insecure people struggle to survive and find their place in an unfamiliar land just might be enjoyable to witness. Who knows? One thing's for certain: it won't be an easy path for them to tread, and what could possibly be more entertaining than watching people endure hardships and grow? I know of at least eight gods that would answer with, 'Absolutely nothing.' I wonder, after seeing this journey from start to finish, how would you answer? [Goal of 2 chapters per week, the only exceptions being announced breaks or emergencies] A/N: This story is in the middle of a rewrite, so please forgive any noticeable plot holes and wonky chapter numbers. I am working on it every day, so understanding would be greatly appreciated. The new cover art is a courtesy of the very kind and talented ssddx. This novel is a participant in The Writer's Pledge

Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.
