《Crash Into Me || A Seth MacFarlane AU》Chapter Three

She didn't know when she'd gotten into the tent the night before but at some point she obviously had. Maybe Seth had moved her, which was certainly possible but nothing she'd have advised with the condition his leg was in. She did know that he wasn't in the tent with her and as she sat up she could hear something outside. It sounded like gagging and retching. With a sigh, she pulled herself towards the entrance to the tent and unzipped it. As she crawled out, she saw him a few feet away kicking sand over what was more than likely vomit.

"You okay?" She called. He turned to look at her and stumbled, swaying on his feet a bit before catching his balance.

"Fine, think it was those pills." He said and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. She nodded and got to her feet to walk over to him. Her hand came up to check his forehead but he took a step back like he didn't want her to. "I might also have a fever."

"Can I see how hot you are?"

"Does it matter? We can't do much about it out here anyway." He pointed out. He wasn't wrong, and that kind of annoyed her but she didn't want to push it any further and be seen as a bitch. It wasn't as if the back of her hand could tell her the exact temperature and if he said he had a fever then he probably did. He certainly looked like it. The sun had started to rise over the horizon, so they had both gotten a decent amount of sleep. Or she had. It was questionable how much he had been up and down the night before. Nothing that disturbed her but the pill she'd taken would have kept her in a deeper sleep than usual.

"Well, we can get you to that river. The water is very cool there. It might help lower your body temperature a bit. Do you think you can walk that far?" She asked, stepping back over to the fire. The canteens were set out and as she picked one up she found that it was filled. She checked the other one, it had been filled too. He must have done it while she was asleep. "Did you get any sleep at all."

"Some but my leg is...well it's not important I'm fine." He said dismissively. She rolled her eyes, figuring that she was going to get one hell of a stubborn man here in denial that much was wrong with him until the point where he couldn't stand anymore. "I can make it to the river it's not that far."

"Good." She said and stood up, holding one of the canteens out to him. "Drink, a lot. But slowly. Vomiting it all back up won't be helpful."

"Are there any more of those pills?" He asked.

"The painkillers? Yeah probably. You'll want to take them with food though." She said. She could go for another one herself with how bad her wrist and shoulder were hurting but she wasn't going to pop two like she was sure he intended to. She opened the canteen and took a few gulps of water and sighed.

"I'll be fine." He assured her.

"Okay but if you puke them up I'm not giving you more." She told him and grabbed the bottle from the pile of pills that they had collected. "Have you been taking the antibiotic?"

"Yes," He said, "I'm sure that fucked up my stomach more than the painkillers." He reached out and took the bottle she was holding and opened it up. She was guessing he was right about the antibiotics messing with his stomach. She didn't have any idea about his tolerance to narcotics but he also seemed to know what he could and couldn't handle. That was all up to him. She took another few gulps of water and got back to her feet. She grabbed an empty backpack and started to pack stuff away into it. This included shampoo, soap, the tackle box, matches, and pot for boiling water. In the pocket she tucked the swiss army knife.

"Come on, we should get to the river we can clean up there." She told him. He nodded and after taking a moment to locate the path they had been following before, she started to walk with him close behind. As they moved, once again, she gathered up fruits that she could see from the sides of the path. There weren't as many that were obvious on that pass but that was because she'd taken a lot back on the night before. By the time they got to the river, Seth seemed like he could barely hold himself up. He very quickly moved over to a large rock and sat down on it. She set down her backpack and came towards him, putting a hand on his cheek. He was burning up. "You need to get into the water."

"I know just...give me a moment." He panted.

"Seth-"

"I'm fine." He insisted. She nodded, deciding she would just keep an eye on him. He wasn't that much taller than her but he was larger. She also didn't doubt that if he wanted to shove her back or hurt her, then he could do it. If he had a fever it was debatable how clearly he was thinking. She had hoped that if there was going to be an infection it wouldn't have set in so quickly but that wasn't what had happened. The antibiotics could take anywhere between 48 and 72 hours to start working which meant at least a few more bad days until there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

"I'm going to get cleaned up then, just rest." She said and started to get undressed, which wasn't easy because of her wrist. She slid out of her tank top after wrestling with her slacks, then stepped into the river just in her bra and panties. The cold water felt nice after a walk like that, it was hotter than she expected it to be that early in the morning. She turned to reach back onto the shore to get the shampoo she had brought out of the bag.

"You're really fucking hot you know that?" He muttered. She laughed softly.

"Thanks, but...now is not the time or the place to be thinking about any of that." She replied, "You're not so bad yourself you know but I doubt I'm your type."

"What do you mean? I wouldn't have said it if I didn't think it."

"I'm hot because I'm here on this island. Also I'm female. I surely cannot compete with twenty something blond chicks from L.A." She laughed, backing up to get under the waterfall so she could soak her hair and rinse the rest of her body off. He blinked a few times and then turned his body more so he was looking at her. He uncapped his canteen and took a few sips of water before closing it again.

"How do you know that's my type?"

"Guess I just assumed, profiling is part of my job you know." She smiled and took her hair down from the updo it was still mostly in. It had been coming out in whisps here and there but by some miracle it had held pretty tight until that point. She hadn't wanted to take it down because it was very long and it was going to be much harder to manage but she also knew she had to wash it. She didn't need it to get matted and greasy.

"Huh," He said, "You aren't really that wrong I suppose but that doesn't mean I don't think you're hot."

"I know, I get it." She said, "We are the only two people here and I'm in good shape because of my line of work. Also, if you were some kind of horn dog in real life, by which I mean not here, I'm pretty sure anything with tits would get you going."

"That and the threat of death." He muttered.

"No one's going to die here, we'll be fine." She said and started to scrub her hair, which was waist long once it was all the way down. He continued to stare at her, no doubt he could see right through her bra and panties at that point because they were wet. She'd have taken them both off but her wrist had hurt far too much to bother with a bra. She also hadn't wanted to ask him because she wasn't sure what sort of reaction he'd have given. As for nudity, she wasn't very shy. She was a medical professional after all and didn't see nudity as much more than anything that was just natural. Unless it was in certain situations, that was. They were already going to have to suck up their feelings about their bodies and everything else over the coming days as it was. There wasn't any need for her to start getting shy now.

"I'm clearly sick and I can tell you my leg is very, very infected. I looked at it before you got up." He said then started to unbutton his shirt with slow, shaky hands.

"Yes, but you are on antibiotics so that's a good place to start." She said, "I can also clean it out again but it's going to hurt like a son of a bitch when I do."

"We have booze, those pills, think I can get trashed first." He chuckled. She smiled at him and started to rinse her hair and the rest of her body from the soap that she had been using. He pulled his shirt off and next were his pants. She had to admit he had a really nice body. One that was causing her to start to blush and think thoughts that she knew she should not be entertaining at the moment. "How long do those things take to work?"

"Anywhere from two to three days and it's going to get worse before it gets better." She said, "But I'm here I'll make sure it doesn't get too bad." She turned away from him, only to avoid staring at him like he was a hunk of meat and finished rinsing off. It was a small thing, and she was barely that much more clean than she had been before but she still felt miles better getting washed off because she smelled too. When she turned back she saw he was in the water a few feet away from her. She swallowed hard and averted her gaze. Luckily, she was finished and didn't have to stay there.

"What about me and you? What's your type?" He asked as he got closer. She wanted nothing more than to lean into him, put her hands on his chest, press her body against his but she knew it was a bad idea. Physically, he was very much her type but she didn't think she knew him well enough to say if he was the full package.

"Tall, dark and handsome for a start. Older...which you are, I just don't think by that much." She said, passing by him to get back to the bank of the river.

"How old would you guess?"

"Uh...about ten years or so older than me? Give or take." She shrugged.

"How old are you? Like 30?" He asked. She laughed and shook her head. She knew with her hair down she looked drastically younger than she actually was, and his guess was very flattering but he wasn't right.

"I'm 37, but thank you." She said, pulling herself onto the bank and walking over to the rock where he had been before.

"Then you aren't that wrong about my age, but you still didn't answer my question." He pointed out. She sighed and leaned down to pick up her canteen. After taking a drink she capped it again and started to run her fingers through her hair to untangle it.

"Other than looks, which aren't that important to me-"

"Bullshit, looks are important to everyone."

"I'm not going to lie, because that is true, if there's no physical attraction a relationship won't work. However, I think that an emotional connection is far more important." She said, "In any case I like an intelligent man or woman who-"

"Woman?"

"I can take either, doesn't really matter to me." She said, "Is that so interesting? You have got to know a ton of bisexual people where you live."

"Huh? No, no problem. Just like the idea of you with another woman." He said grinning stupidly. She covered her mouth with her hand to hide the smile creeping across her face as she looked away from him, trying to compose herself.

"Anyway, as I was saying. Intelligent, good sense of humor, someone established with their own career and name so they aren't looking to take mine." She said, "Someone who thinks for themselves and doesn't take shit from anyone. Loyal, a hard worker...romantic at heart. Something like that I guess."

"You know I'm a lot of those things." He said.

"I'm aware of that but I'd also say I don't want him to be famous."

"Oh come on, that's the deal breaker?"

"Not...really but I already bust my ass to not be in the spotlight. Would dating someone like you help or hurt my cause? How A-List are you? Do you have the whole paparazzi thing going on back in L.A?" She asked.

"Yes but I know how to avoid it." He said, running his fingers through his hair as he watched her. She didn't doubt that what he was saying was true but she didn't want them around her at all, and why was she even trying to consider this? It was unrealistic. Maybe on the island, stranded and half alive it was a promising fantasy but she knew once they got back into the real world it wouldn't be.

"As I said, I think I only seem like a good idea because we are here, alone. If you still feel the same way once we get off of the island I'll consider it." She said.

"Consider it now, don't be such an ice queen. What do you have to lose?"

"Not much, I suppose, but I don't think we need to be adding sex into this equation. Not with your leg how it is." She said. He chuckled and finished cleaning himself up then began to move back to the shore slowly. She could tell with the way he was moving his leg had to be killing him even if he was pretty decent at hiding the pain.

"Maybe I don't want to die without getting my dick sucked just one more time." He said.

"How about this, if I think you're starting to get close, I'll give you a nice blow job to ease the pain." She laughed. He laughed too and pulled himself up onto the shore with what looked like a ton of effort. Once he was up there he turned, sitting on the edge with his legs still dangling into the water. She came over and sat down next to him. The bandage that she had put on the other day was starting to come off. From what was exposed she could already see that there was a lot of swelling and irritation. It wasn't going to get better once she removed the thing either.

"Fine but you better not be fucking around here."

"I'm not." She said, "I would not deny a man his dying wish, but you're not going to die."

"I'm going to hold you to that you know." He said. She put a gentle hand on his arm and rubbed the skin softly. He had cooled off a bit, but that didn't mean the fever had broken or it would stay that way. She was thinking their best bet would be to stay near the river where the fresh water was because she didn't want him to risk walking back how he was. She knew she could go grab most of the stuff and bring it back there, set it up so they would be comfortable where they were until he had rested enough to move again.

"Yeah, I know." She said, "Stay here, I'm going to go back and grab some stuff from the other area, we can camp here tonight."

"Why, I can-"

"I don't think you can make it back, you need to rest. It's nicer here anyway. Closer to food sources." She said and grabbed the backpack she had brought. "Eat something, anything. Then take two of those pills. By the time I get back you'll be messed up enough that I'll be able to clean out your leg. Okay?"

"Yeah yeah," He said but didn't sound very happy about it. She wasn't really happy about it either. Working on his leg out in the wild wasn't ideal and though she would be able to clean it for the most part nothing about the location was sterile. Hopefully she could make it better than it was, though, and doing nothing would certainly make it worse. She grabbed her shirt and pulled it back on as she started to follow the path back towards the beach where they had come from. As soon as she was sure she was out of sight from him she started to run, she didn't want to leave him alone too long. Not in his condition.
