"Hajin-a," I heard my mom called my name as she enter my room. "Have you done packing?" my mom asked. "Yup," I said as I stare at all the boxes in my bedroom. My mom walked in and sat on my bed. She puts her hand on my shoulder and rubs it softly. "Are you okay?" she asked. I smile bitterly. "Physically not, but yeah I'm okay." I said. A sad face plastered on my mom's face. "Have strength, okay? Eomma and Appa will always be by your side. So, don't ever give up." She said with a smile. I smile back at her, trying to hide my sadness.
"Have you told Taekwang yet?" she asked. I went silent. I've been planning to tell him since last week. But, I just can't. "I'll tell him later," I said. Then, my mom walked out of my bedroom. I laid my body on my bed and stared at the ceiling. "Should I just not tell him?" I asked myself. I moved my head to the left. I stare at a picture on my desk. A picture of me and Taekwang when we're 6 years old, laughing on a swing. A smile plastered on my face. "Ahh, how should I tell you, Taekwang-a?" I asked at the picture.

"Ya, I can't wait till we're High School." Taekwang said as he eats his ice cream. There's no reply from Hajin. Taekwang look at Hajin who's staring blankly at her ice cream. "Hajin-a," Taekwang said, awakening Hajin. "Ne? Are you saying something? Sorry I didn't catch that," Hajin said. Taekwang look at Hajin strangely. "What's wrong with you for the past few days?" Taekwang asked. Hajin went silent. "Is there something you wanted to tell me?" he asked again, hitting the jackpot. Hajin gulped down. "Nothing, I'm just feeling a little bit tired these past few days." Hajin said. She eats her ice cream, trying to avoid eye contact with Taekwang. Taekwang knows something's a bit off but he just went silent.

"Kim Hajin! Let's play together!" Taekwang shouts in front of Hajin's house. He's holding his basketball to play with Hajin. There's no reply. "It's weird. She usually pops up as soon as I call her." Taekwang said to himself. Suddenly, the ahjumma who works at Hajin's house walks out. "Ahjumma," he called the ahjumma. The ahjumma went startled. "Oh, Gong Taekwang. Are you looking for Hajin?" she asked. "Ne," Taekwang replied happily. "Aigoo, you don't know?" the ahjumma said with a pity face. "Know what?" he asked the ahjumma carefully. "Hajin and her family already moved out. The just left 30 minutes ago," she said. Taekwang dropped his basketball and went silent. "Taekwang-a, are you okay?" the ahjumma asked. "Where is she?" Taekwang said in a trembling voice. "Ne?" the ahjumma asked. "WHERE IS SHE?" he shouts.

Hajin stares at the sky from her seat's window. She's currently on an airplane to America. "It's for the best, right?" she asked herself. "I'm sorry Taekwang-a," she mumbles.

Taekwang closed his bedroom door and lean his back on it. "He's right, who am I to say that?" Taekwang asked himself. "No way, you didn't like Hajin too, right?" he reminisce what Moonbin said. "Did I?" Taekwang asked himself once again. "Gong Taekwang, you must be crazy. How can you like your childhood best friend? And worse than that, you already have a girlfriend." Taekwang said to himself. He hit his head to the door continuously. Then he suddenly gets up. "I like Eunbi, I like Eunbi, I like Eunbi, I like Eunbi," he mutters to himself as he walks around his bedroom.

The next morning
Moonbin is waiting in front of Hajin's house. He checks his watch and try to take a peek inside. Suddenly, Hajin's mother walks out. "Oh, You're Hajin's friend,..." her mom pause a bit to guess his name. "Kim Moonbin," Moonbin said as he smile. "Aah, ne. What are you doing here? Aren't you going to school?" Hajin's mom asked. "Oh, I was waiting for Hajin so we can go to school together." Moonbin explained. "Ah, what a shame. Hajin left earlier today, she said she's on class duty today." Hajin's mom said. "Class duty?" Moonbin mumbles to himself. "There's no such a thing in our school..." Moonbin thought.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hajin took a glance at her watch. "Aahh, there's still a lot of time." She said as she laid her head on her desk. She took her phone out of her pocket and play with it. Then, Eunbyul walks into the classroom not long after that. She notices Hajin. "Oh, Kim Hajin." Eunbyul calls her. Hajin raises her head from her desk and smile. "Annyeong Go Eunbyul." She said. "What are you doing this early?" Eunbyul asked. "It's just, I'm avoiding someone haha," Hajin said as she scratched her hair. Eunbyul nods her head. Then she took a glance at Hajin.
"Should I ask her?" Eunbyul thought. "Hajin-a, can I ask you something?" Eunbyul said. "Ask what?" Hajin said. She looks at Eunbyul with a face full of questions. "Why did you move back to Korea?" Eunbyul asked carefully. Hajin took a while to answer that question. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to." Eunbyul said as she see Hajin hesitating. "Ani, it's okay." Hajin said. "I'm very sick right now," she continued. Eunbyul looks shock. "Should I walk you to the pharmacy?" Eunbyul said. "Ani, there's nothing you can do about it." Hajin said.

A sad smile plastered on her face. Eunbyul look at Hajin confusedly. "I went back to Korea thinking that I'm already healed. But, it's just a fake hope. I'm still stuck with all those pills and treatment every day here." Hajin said. Eunbyul is lost at words. "You don't have to pity me," Hajin said, smiling at Eunbyul. "Does Taekwang know about this?" Eunbyul asked suddenly. Hajin smiles bitterly. "He's the person I want to tell so badly. But at the same time, I don't want him to know." Hajin said. Eunbyul looks at Hajin worriedly. "But, it can be healed, right?" Eunbyul asked. "I hope so," Hajin said as she stares at the classroom's window. Eunbyul is at loss for words. Then, the other students start arriving.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taekwang stares at Hajin who's currently reading a book on her desk. "Me? Like Hajin?" Taekwang thought. He's been thinking about what Moonbin said to him the other night. He never thought about it before. For him, Hajin is only his childhood friend that he treasures the most. Hajin is the only person who can bring happiness to him. That is before he met Eunbi. Now there's another person who can bring happiness to him. Kim Hajin, the girl who brings him smile for the first time after his mother left. He feels like everything's going to be alright when there's Hajin beside him. Then suddenly the girl who he treasures the most left him without saying anything. Leaving him empty, angry, and disappointed. Every day he hoped that it's only a dream and she'll come back. But she didn't. He started to not hope for anything.
Then, he met Eunbi. The girl, who pretends to be strong but actually very weak inside. For the first time, Taekwang feels like he need to protect someone. He feels worried everytime Eunbi's not beside him. And Taekwang feel happy once again. He started to move on. But then, Hajin appeared in front of him after a long time. He didn't know how to react. The person he longed so much came back. Smiling in front of him, as if nothing happened. He was dumbfounded but happy at the same time. The person he's been waiting has finally come back. He feels so happy, He forgot how angry he is at her for leaving him.
"What are you staring at?" Hajin asked, awakening Taekwang. Taekwang looks at Hajin , who's still focused on her book, confusedly. "You've been staring at me. Do you have something to say?" She said. She stares at Taekwang with a smile plastered on her face. Taekwang went flustered. "I'm not staring at you. Just continue reading, you fool." Taekwang said as he hit Hajin's head. He stands up and left the class. Hajin was left dumbfounded. "What's wrong with him? I'm just asking nicely." Hajin asked herself as she stares at Taekwang.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ya, parrot." Moonbin tap Hajin's shoulder. Hajin didn't move her eyes from her book, ignoring Moonbin. Moonbil looks confused. "Why did you left early this morning?" Moonbin asked. "None of your business," Hajin said. She keeps reading her book. Moonbin become more confused. "What's wrong with her?" he thought. "Are you feeling well already?" Moonbin asked again. Hajin puts her book down. She turns around to look at Moonbin. "I'm sorry, can you leave me alone?" Hajin asked. Moonbin went dumbfounded. "I'm trying to read something here," she continued. Then she turns back to read her book. Moonbin looks at Hajin strangely. He grabs Hajin's hand. "Follow me," he said as he drags Hajin out. "Ya! Let go of me! Didn't I tell you that I was reading something?" Hajin said as she tries to pull her hand away. But, Moonbin's grip is too strong.
Moonbin drag her all the way to the rooftop. "Ya, it hurts," Hajin said. Then, Moonbin finally let her hand off. "What are you doing?" Hajin asked Moonbin with annoyance. "Why are you acting like that?" Moonbin asked as he raises his voice. "Acting like what?" Hajin asked, also raising her voice. "Why did you ignore me?" Moonbin asked. Hajin went silent. "No I didn't. I'm always like that," Hajin said. Moonbin laughs in disbelief. "Ya, you're obviously avoiding me," he said. Hajin gulps down. "What's wrong with me avoiding you? Isn't it a good thing?" Hajin said with a cold face. Moonbin looks at Hajin confusedly. "You disliked me, don't you remember? You hated girls who talks a lot." Hajin said. She's trying her best to keep her cold face. "Ya! What's wrong with you?" Moonbin asked confusedly. "Aren't you supposed to be happy? This parrot won't talk to you anymore." She continued. Moonbin went silent. "If you don't have anything else to say, I'm leaving." Hajin said.
She turns around and was about to go back to the classroom until Moonbin said, "But I'm not happy. What should I do?" Hajin turns around a looks at Moonbin confusedly. "I'm not happy that you're avoiding me. I'm not happy that you're not going to talk to my anymore. What should I do?" Moonbin said. He stares deeply at Hajin's eyes. Hajin's getting nervous. She didn't know what to say. Moonbin takes a deep breathe.
"I like you. What should I do?" Moonbin said.
"Andwae,you shouldn't have," Hajin thought.

The American Dream: An Alternate, Time-Travel Timeline
Due to a mysterious transcendent being, United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant Samuel Kim from the year 2016 is thrown back in time to the year 1775. To make matters worse, he wakes up near Bunker Hill, mere hours before the famed Battle of Bunker Hill is set to begin. Realizing the unique situation he finds himself in, the lieutenant takes the opportunity to change the fate of the battle and ensure an overwhelming American victory. Guided by his "patronizing" "God" and the American revolutionaries, Lieutenant Kim embarks on a journey to help America gain its independence and to ensure the nation uphold its "most promising" ideals from the very beginning. Author's Warning: The story is very rough in the first few chapters (and as some readers pointed out, some parts are laughable, such as "American idealism"). However, the pace and quality of the story improves from chapter four and onwards. You will enjoy the story if you have some interest in history, worldbuilding, and the butterfly effect (along with a few badass characters). So even if you are a bit turned off in the beginning, I promise that the story improves quickly.
