《More Than Meets the Eye (A Ninjago Fanfic)》Chapter 9: Shimmer in the Light

Shimmer looked horrified as she backed away from the gi Sensei gave her. Immediately, she turned on her heel and sped down the hall to the main deck.
"Shimmer! Shimmer!" I called after her as I shot up from the table to go after her. The others followed suit and raced down the hall after her, calling her name. Sensei just stood where he was, awestruck for a moment, before trailing after us. We were all calling out her name.
'What's gotten into her?' I wondered as I ran.
I ran to the main deck, panicked. I heard the others calling my name, but I ignored their pleading calls and continued on my way.
I reached the main deck. Looking around I spotted a dark corner where the ship blocked the sunlight and the railing and the wall met. I solemnly walked to the corner and placed my palms on the railing as I looked out across the sky from my shadowed corner. At this point I was sobbing, tears streaming in little rivulets down my cheeks.
I heard footsteps behind me as the others ran onto the main deck. The sound of the footsteps abruptly stopped. I didn't bother to look behind me, even as I heard one pair of footsteps approach. I was trying to choke back my tears when I felt a hand place itself over mine. I turned to look the hand's owner in the eye. Lloyd.
My emotions overwhelmed me as I looked into his glittering and concerned eyes. I turned and buried my face in his chest as I gripped the fabric of his green hoodie as if my life depended on it. I felt his arms wrap around me protectively, one hand on the small of my back, the other between my shoulder blades. I could feel the others staring at me as I wept bitterly into Lloyd's chest.

After a while of nothing to be heard but my sobs, I began to run out of tears. When I had calmed down a bit, Lloyd placed me at arm's length and placed his right hand on my left cheek. He smiled sympathetically as he used his thumb to wipe away my tears.
The others were still standing near the door. Sensei Wu, on the other hand, stepped forward and approached us. He stopped in front of us and motioned for Lloyd to back up a few steps. As he backed off, I saw Sensei grin slightly and give him a knowing wink. Lloyd and I blushed at his actions. My blush was short lived as Sensei Wu asked, "what have you remembered?"
"I have remembered my element." I replied with a sigh.
"This is good. What is it?" Sensei questioned.
I though a moment before crying out, "just look," and jumping out into the sunlight. As soon as the sun's rays hit my skin, I let a small amount of my power go. My skin began to sparkle, as if I were covered in glitter, but only on my exposed skin.
I turned to Sensei, a shy and tentative yet solemn smile danced across my lips as I glanced from my glittering arms to Sensei's face.
"You're..." Sensei began.
I cut Sensei off as I interrupted him, "Shimmer Lee, Master of Light." I gave a graceful bow and giggled to myself.
"Why are you giggling?" Asked Jay curiously.
"Well, I shimmer in the light...you see, my name's Shimmer and I'm the master of light." I replied, somewhat trailing off at the end. They all just looked at me. "Hey! It's funny 'cause it is! Don't judge." I pouted cutely as others cracked up

"Why were you crying, Shimmer?" Asked Sensei when we had quit laughing.
My face instantly clouded over at the question, fear screaming from my eyes. "If I'm the master of light, that means I know why Morro wants me." I took a deep breath before continuing, "he wants to turn me evil and use my powers to destroy Ninjago. He wants me to bring Ninjago to its knees by having me take Njnjago's light away. Eventually crops and livestock will die from lack of sunlight and eventually the people will be forced to surrender all of Ninjago to him in order to get the light back so that they don't starve to death. If they don't go insane from the darkness first that is. This is how he plans to conquer Ninjago. It will be a fierce dictatorship..." I explained trailing off. "He can't find me...think of all the people I could hurt."
"Don't worry, Shimmer. We'll protect you." Said Lloyd softly as he hugged me. Resting his chin on my head. All of a sudden Lloyd absentmindedly pulled back and kissed the top of my head. I blushed madly, as did he once he realized what he did...in front of the guys, too. Lloyd and I stepped away from each other. Lloyd, noticing a video camera in Cole's hands, proceeded to chase him angrily with embarrassment. I stood back and watched, blushing, as Sensei shot me another wink, making me blush harder.
I turned my attention back to Lloyd and Cole. Everyone laughed as Lloyd, yelling, chased a screaming Cole.
'Way to be the comic relief in this situation, Lloyd.' I thought to myself. 'Way to be the comic relief.'
