《More Than Meets the Eye (A Ninjago Fanfic)》Chapter 5: Dream Secrets Revealed

Three weeks have passed since Shimmer joined us. She's quite the fast healer. Her side wound has already healed into a scar...of course Sensei's healing tea didn't hurt either. She still doesn't know anything about who she was running from, who her parents are, or why she was running. I suppose she'll remember in time.
"Hey Lloyd? You coming? The guys, Nya, and I are going to play some video games." I said waiting for an answer I didn't get. "Um...Lloyd?"
"Hmm? Wha-?" Lloyd mumbled, eyes glued on Shimmer as they sat at the kitchen table.
"Are you coming to play video games with us?" I repeated slightly annoyed. That boy is head over heels for Shimmer, though she doesn't seem to notice...or she ignores it.
"Nah...I'll stay here and talk with Shimmer." He answered, trying hard to hide his feelings for this girl...he was actually doing pretty well a hiding his feelings from her except for him always wanting to talk with her. Shimmer seriously may not know that Lloyd likes her. It's kinda weird though, his crush on her that is. Since she looks like a ten-year-old and he looks like a nineteen-year-old.
"Alright..." I answered, leaving the kitchen.
Lloyd...he is kinda cute. I hope he can't tell that I like him. Then again he seems like he might feel the same on account of the numerous times in the past three weeks that he has spent talking with me rather than playing games with the others. I suppose I'll have to wait and see...maybe he does like me.
Lloyd and I chatted for a while, until drowsiness overtook me. I couldn't keep my eyes open. Before I knew it, I was asleep, head on the kitchen table.

Shimmer...she's so adorable. Why is it so hard to keep my feelings in check? I don't really know anything about her...yet I'm falling for her and I'm falling hard. I just don't know if she likes me...even if she does look like she's ten, I don't care...I don't want to ruin our friendship, though.
We talked for a while before Shimmer gave into her exhaustion and fell asleep, resting her head on the table. She's so cute when she sleeps.
I decided that I should put Shimmer to bed. Standing and gently picking her up bridal style, I crept down the hall to the spare room Shimmer was staying in. I pushed open the door to her room. Setting Shimmer gently on the floor, I commenced to pull back the sheets on her bed.
Tiptoeing back to Shimmer, I picked her up and laid her in bed. I grabbed the blankets and tucked her in. I was about to turn around and leave when an idea struck me... "I don't have to hold back my feelings, she's asleep." I thought. Giving in to my feelings, I bent down and lightly pressed my lips to her forehead, careful not to wake her.
Standing upright again I tiptoed to the door. "Goodnight 'Shim.'" I whispered into the dimly lit room from the doorway. Glancing back, I faintly saw her roll onto her side. I smiled to myself and quietly closed the door, leaving Shimmer to her dreams.
I stood in a dark forest, the stars glinting through the dense tree branches. A glow emanated from behind me. I was about to turn and face the source of the glow when all of a sudden there's was and explosion from behind me. The explosion created a shock wave that sent me vaulting through the air and dropped me on my stomach on the mixture of damp leaves and soil known as the forest floor.

Instantaneously after the explosion, I felt something strike my back, sending tingling sensations through my body. The tingling made me gasp as it overloaded my senses.
The sensations soon subsided and I stood, bracing my feet in the soil. A cloud of green-grey smoke drifted from the opening of a swirling vortex of light. 'He can cross over!' My brain cried. 'Wait, who is HE?' I thought after a moment.
I then heard a sinister laugh. "Free at last!" Said the smoke.
"No..." I heard myself groan in horror...but why? 'What's going on?' I thought
I felt my feet turn my body around and I ran through the trees, fleeing the scene. I ran with everything I had. 'What's wrong with my body?' I thought. Something wasn't right.
I was in mid-sprint when everything melted away, fading. The world around me dematerialized, vanishing into thin air. The ground dropped out from under my feet and I suddenly found myself falling through a vast, empty void of darkness, screaming as I went. I was plummeting into eternal nothingness when my falling body was abruptly stopped in mid-fall. Once my form had ceased plummeting, immediately a figure appeared in front of me. He had black hair with a green streak through it, he was pale, and he had dark circles surrounding his vulture-like eyes.
"W-who are you?" I asked shakily.
"I am called Morro, but you will soon know me as MASTER!" He said chuckling villainously. "Ninjago! Is! MINE!" He roared, pausing between each word, an ominous and dangerous air to his voice. "And so are you." He added smirking coldly as he approached me.

Their only hope is the ancient prophecy, which says a hero of light will emerge to save humanity in their darkest hour... 20 years from now. Too little, too late for those living now. In the midst of the the apocalypse, college student Oscar McAllister finds himself out of a job and out of luck. Permanight is currently on hiatus while I prepare a rewrite based on the current feedback I've recieved. I'm sorry for the bad news, but I want to bring the world to life in a way that feels real, and at the moment - I'm not entirely convinced that I'm doing that.

The Granddaughter of Time
Teresa Hargrove was okay with giving up. She knew the Earth was doomed and there was nothing to be done about it. What she was not okay with was the Future, an enigmatic woman nearly fanatical in her devotion to making a difference, dragging her along — seemingly, to prove her wrong. It turns out though that the Future is very hard to understand. This story contains heavy themes, including mental illness, existential crisis and death. However, I still tried to eventually convey a message of hope. Several mythical and metaphorical beings in the shape of humans will appear in most chapters. However, they are not meant to be of a specific ethnicity or social background and are instead perceived differently by people around them. For your reading pleasure, feel free to imagine them any way you’d like, even if your imagination contradicts descriptions from the story. Enjoy!~
