《More Than Meets the Eye (A Ninjago Fanfic)》Chapter 3: The Brink of Death

Lloyd took the strange girl to the Bounty. She was laid on the bed in the spare bedroom. I was entrusted, by sensei, with the task of repairing this poor girl's broken and battered body.
The others looked at me expectantly, waiting for my orders on what to do. "Nya, clean her up so she is not dirty when she awakens...and find her new attire." I added looking down at the tattered rags, supposedly meant to be clothing, that covered her small frame. I continued as Nya rushed out of the room, "Sensei, please make her some healing tea. Jay, get some cotton swabs and some antiseptics for her wounds. Kai, find some bandages, gauze, and tape. Cole, get a needle and thread...you will be stitching up her wounds. Lloyd, I need you to wet a cloth with cold water and place it on her forehead. I will check her vitals." One by one they left the room to carry out the orders given them.
I couldn't put my finger on it, but I sensed that this child was special, important. I felt that there was more to her than what is at first apparent, or as the others would say: there is more to her than meets the eye.
Her vitals checked out on the iffy side with the effects of the lack of an adequate blood supply.
We all did our parts...now we had to hope that she would survive and wait for her to awaken.
All the ninja were gathered on the deck training, Sensei Wu and Nya included.
"I don't know, but I have a weird feeling about her. It almost feels like she's important, that fate brought her to us for some reason." Cole said thoughtfully.
"I know. I've felt it, too." Added Kai.

"Lloyd...what about you? Do you feel it?" Asked Jay curiously.
"Lloyd?" Added Zane when he didn't answer.
Lloyd was deep in thought as he looked out across the land from the Bounty's railing. He kept getting the urge to go down to the spare room to check on the girl. He felt like he should, but he didn't know why.
He didn't have to wonder why he should check on her for long. A loud main of pain sounded from the spare room, causing everyone to turn and scurry down the stairs to said room. She did survive!

They aren't a deity of death, but one tracking an anomaly that can't be processed and completely wiped clean as they enjoy calling it. A fresh start, without shackles or remnants of what once was. Life is a price paid by all living beings, but like any transaction, we give it something in exchange for our memories, our feelings, our emotions, our past, and future, our ambitions and our dreams. Those all fuel the fire of creation, but so do grief, and pain. Every moment of suffering is the price, every living moment is paid at our death. Sometimes some have so much piled up that their soul and heart end up damaged. Be it loss of trust or being unable to truly live their life, those shackles are like an anchor that keeps the soul stable when on the verge of breaking apart, keeping it together at an immense price. Those unlucky souls are forced to be put into another life indebted, in the unlikely possibility of their defect healing themself in that new life. Their memories aren't intact after all—everything has a price—and that pain and fear are what they carry, while their partial amnesia is their shackle. This is the story of one such soul, of a girl sent into a world of legend and novel of fantasy, dragons and magic.
