《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 21: Tatooine

When we have arrived on Tatooine, we landed on a private dock. Small little droids greeted us. "This way come along." A small droid beeped, pushing us towards the exit. "In the carriage."
Anakin and I looked back at each other, wanting to laugh at how aggressive this small droid was. We sat down on a two-seated carriage making R2 whine. He would have to walk on the ground. I gave R2 a small frown apologizing before the carriage began to move.
This would be my first time on Tatooine. Besides the time we had to make an emergency landing, I never got to explore it.
Every face strung in my direction; I furrowed my brows confused. Did I have something on my face? I looked at Anakin, who was also confused until his mouth made an 'O'-shape. "Put your hood on. Tatooine knows about your family too much." Anakin says, whispering. I nodded, doing as he said. "Good, I like it when you follow directions." He whispered; I nudged his waist, making him groan.
I was wearing a light blue midriff dress with silver embroidery. The top wrapped around my body as the sleeves were long, becoming a cape. My pants were wide and loose but tightly fitted on the top. I placed my hair in two buns on the side of my head while the rest fell nicely on my back. On top of that, I wore an indigo silver cloak.
After a few seconds, the carriage came to a halt. The driver began yelling in Huttese. We must be here. We stood up, heading out. Before I got out, Anakin reached out for my hand, startling me. "What a gentleman." I jokingly say, taking his hand. "Yeah yeah." he laughed back.
We made our way to a small shop. "Da wanga!" a toydarian creature spoke, flapping its wing rapidly. "Chut-chut, Watto," Anakin spoke back. I furrowed my brows in confusion. I had no clue Anakin knew other languages.

The toydarian seemed to be having trouble with some mechanical parts. He kept throwing parts in every direction, yelling as he did so. "Let me help you with that." Anakin took the departed droid in his hands, making the toydarian angry. 'What? What do you want," the toydarian said angrily. Reaching to take back the droid. How rude.
I placed my hand on my hips, making my lightsaber reflect on his eyes. He stopped quickly and moved his body to face my lightsaber. His eyes widen, and his wings began to flap at a rapid speed. It seemed as though he was about to launch straight up. "Wait! You both are Jedi?!" He shouted, grabbing onto the closest tool he could find.
"Whatever it is... I didn't do it!" he shouted; he quickly lifted a small wrench, which slipped right out of his hands, landing on his foot. He whimpered in pain seconds after the impact. Anakin began to speak Huttese again. "Ani?" the toydarian asked; he seemed to be delighted and more relaxed.
"Little Ani?" he asked once more, this time leaning in to get a better look at Anakin's face. Ani placed down the droid helmet, indicating he was done. "You are Ani! It is you!" The toydarian began to dance happily in his seat.
I looked at Anakin, who noticed I was confused. "His name is Watto," Anakin said, bringing back information in my head. He had once talked about his slave owner being named Watto. I gasped and nodded. "You're sure sprouted, huh? Wee-hoo! A Jedi! Whattaya know! And what a lady!" Watto said, nudging Anakin's hand.
Anakin looked back and smirked before reverting his attention to Watto. "Hey... Maybe you both could help me with some deadbeats who owe me a lot of money." Watto whispered. "My mother." Anakin snapped back impatiently.

"Oh, yeah, Shmi. Uhh.." Watto's hand rubbed the back of his neck. I felt the becoming of bad news awaited. "Shes not mine-a no more-a. I sold her." Watto explained hesitantly. "You sold her?" I asked angrily without thinking.
"Years ago." Watto directed his attention back on me; he eyed my body, looking up and down. I quickly grabbed my cape, closing my body in it. "Sorry, Ani, but you know, business is business, huh" Watto chuckled, looking back and forth between Ani and me.
Anakin's grabbed my waist, placing me behind him. Someone jealous, I laughed sightly under my breathe. "yeah, I sold her to a moisture farmer named, uh, Lars. At least, I think it was Lars. Believe it or not! I heard he freed her and married her! Can ya beat that, eh!" Watto said nervously, nudging Anakin on the arm again.
"Do you know where they are now?" Anakin asked lowly, inching his head towards Watto. "Ooh, long way from here. Someplace over on the other side of Mos Eisley. I think mmm." Watto placed his hand under his chin. Rubbing it gently.
I looked down to R2, who was standing beside me. He begins to beep some phrases I knew. "You're worried?" I ask R2, making him make more phrases. "Don't worry, R2. We will be back to Padme in a few." I say, making him relax.
I felt Anakin's hand on my waist, moving me forward. I looked up to see we were heading into Watto's shack.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

ELIOT NESS FOR MAYOR is a short novel of magical-realist fiction, a stand-alone book in the Shantytown Cycle. Written for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), I will be posting revisions as I complete them and should be done by early 2022, though I am making major changes so the timing may be longer. This book is cross-posted on two websites: Wattpad and Royal Road. Both are reputable, high-quality sites. Do not trust this book on other websites. They "scrape" material from reputable sites, posting the stolen material as an original to lure users in, but contain links that include malicious code.
