《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 7: The Assassin

That same night, we were assigned to guard Padme. They have set cameras up in her room to know her every movement. I thought it was creepy watching her, and so did she. We had decided to shut the cameras off in her room and depending on our Jedi senses.
It was around midnight. The city was up and loud. Mostly, those who were up were either drinking or just having fun. I peered out the ledge and observed those below me who looked like tiny ants. "They look so tiny," I say. Anakin looked over the ledge as well. "We probably look tiny to them as well," he says. He looked at me and smiled.
The breeze swept over his hair. He has never looked as calm as he has now. There was an undeniable presence. It was comforting to have him close. "So, who do you think is behind all this?" I say, breaking the silence. He crossed his arms and sighed, "I'm not quite sure. Obi-wan has no interest in finding out. I think it's ridiculous." he says as he looks over the ledge again."I'm sure they will resolve themselves sooner or later again. I can feel it." I say, heading back to the couches. The only person we were waiting for was Obi-Wan. He went off to see Typho and check out the security system.
I looked over to Anakin, who was now leaning over the ledge. "Are you okay?" I asked and got up from the couch, but the elevator doors opened before he could answer. It was Obi-wan."Captain Typho has more than enough men downstairs," Obi-wan says, and he starts to approach the middle of the room. "No assassin would try that way," Anakin says, now standing beside me. "Any activity up here?" Obi-wan asks. If only he knew we shut off the cameras to Padme's room, he'd probably get angry.
"Quiet as a tomb." Anakin answers. He stares directly at me, hinting about the situation with the cameras. Obi-wan grabbed a device that looked directly into Padme's room. "I don't like just waiting here for something to happen to her," I say, trying to distract him from looking. Obi-wan looks up in my direction but doesn't say anything. "What's going on?" Obi-wan asks, looking at both of us while the device starts beeping, indicating the cameras were shut off.

"Ah, she covered the cameras. I don't think she liked us watching her." I respond. Obi-wan's face grew in concern and disappointment. "What is she thinking?" he asked, walking towards her bedroom door. "Master Kenobi, she is perfectly safe. I can assure that." I say, trying to calm him down from barging Padme's room.
"She programmed R2 to warn us if there is an intruder," Anakin says, trying to slow his place as well. It seemed to work; he slowed down and faced us again. "There are many other ways to kill a senator, young Padawans," he says, crossing his arms. "I know, but we also want to catch this assassin, don't we, Master?" Anakin says, crossing his arms as well.
"You're using her as bait?" Obi-wan asks, the tension in the room grew. Anakin and I knew Obi-wan would not like the idea of leaving her alone. But to catch the assassin, we must trap them. "It was my idea, Master," I say, trying to back up Anakin. He looked at me once again and inches closer, I knew he was about to scold me. "It was my idea, Master. Padme wished to turn the cameras off. Of course, I took it upon me to listen." he says, redirecting Obi-wan's attention.
Obi-wan sighs, taking his hand and rubbing his beard. "Don't worry. No harm will come to her. I can sense everything going on in that room. Trust me." Anakin says. Obi-wan faces Padme's door again and lets out another sigh. "It's too risky. Besides, your senses aren't that attuned, my young apprentice." Obi-wan responded. I saw the look on Anakin's face. He seemed upset. I knew this issue was about to start another argument.
"And yours are?" Anakin says, questioning Obi-wan's abilities. "Possibly," Obi-wan says, the two now faced each other. At the same time, I was sort of the oddball standing on the side. I knew I had to break the tension before they start saying things to each other. "Alright, well, there's three of us. I think senses are going to come in handy if anything." I say; they both stare in my direction and nod.

Obi-wan walked away and sat on the couch while Anakin went back over to the ledge. Boys, they can be so dramatic. Anakin's eyes came into contact with mine, indicating to come over where he was. Surely, I made my way to him.
"You look tired," I say, going to stand by him now. He looked to his side, not changing his body position, which was facing the city. "I don't sleep well anymore," he says, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. I had remembered what he told me while we were training when we were younger. Anakin would always have nightmares of his mother. He missed her so badly, but the Jedi forced him to conceal those emotions.
"Because of your mother?" I ask; he opened his eyes and faced his body towards me. He nodded and looked down at his hands. "I don't know why I keep dreaming about her," he says, not looking up. "Anakin, she's your mother. I would be surprised if you didn't dream about her or think about her." I say. He looked up and weakly smiled. "Dreams pass in time," I added, grabbing his arm. His eyes opened up more. "I'd much rather dream about you," he says. I quickly let go of his arm. Shocked by what he said. Even after he said he wouldn't, here he was doing it all over again.
"Just being around you is... intoxicating," he adds, this time. His smile faded, and he began to look out the ledge once more. "Be mindful of your thoughts, Anakin. They betray you. We've committed to the Jedi order, a commitment not so easily broken." I say, breaking the tension and walking back to the center of the room, avoiding the whole conversation.
The room was silent until Obi-wan and Anakin started talking again. I couldn't quite figure out what they were talking about. They were whispering, but I knew it was about me. They kept looking back and forth between myself and them. They seemed to be disagreeing, but on what exactly?
As they were still discussing, God knows what. I felt a strange sensation in my chest. The other stopped talking. I knew I wasn't the only one who felt the tension. I closed my eyes to focus on what was so disturbing. It was Padme; she was in danger.
I got up from the couch and quickly ran into her room. I pulled out my lightsaber, searching for the threat when I saw Anakin jumping onto Padme's bed, slicing the bugs that were surrounding her. From the corner of my eye, I saw what looked like a robot with a camera. They were watching us. Without hesitation, I jumped out of the window.
"y/n! No! " I heard Anakin scream from behind me, but it was too late. I was holding onto the camera thing. I looked down to see the city below me. Oh god, what have I done?? There was no time to panic. This thing was gonna lead me to the assassin. The thing was pushing me against the building walls, trying to knock me on the ground. "Ouch!" I yell as he scraps me against the wall giving my hand a burn.
There was speeder from all directions. I focused on not letting one hit me and drop me to the ground. Still, in the air, I heard a bullet hit the thing that's keeping me afloat. I felt my body begin to drop to the ground. I began thinking I was going to plummet to the ground. That wasn't until I saw a yellow speeder below me. It was Anakin. Oh, thank god.
