《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 6: Plans

We made our way towards the couches to discuss Padme's security measures. For some time, I felt the sense that Padme was in danger. Only this time, it was true; someone was truly out to get her.
I sat down next to Padme, facing Anakin and Obi-wan. "I'm Captain Typho of Her Majesty's secret service. Queen Jamillia has been informed of your assignment. I am grateful you are here, Master Kenobi. The situation is more dangerous than the senator will admit." Typho says, glaring at the group.
I have to admit; I was angry. I didn't get the credit I deserve. Before Master Kenobi and Anakin came, I was the one who was protecting Padme. I was the one who woke up early to train and protect her in the after hours. Yet, there was no thank you??
"I don't need more security. My sister has been doing just fine. I need answers. I want to know who's trying to kill me." Padme sighs and lifts her head from the ground to face the Jedi. At least she was giving me credit.
"We are here to protect you, senator. Not to start an investigation." Obi-wan says. I rolled my eyes in disbelief. To protect Padme, we need to know who the person behind it is. The Jedi didn't understand this... "We will find out who's trying to kill you, Padme. I promise you." Anakin says, I look back up to see him smiling at me, but the smile vanished fast once Obi-wan starts to talk again. Oh no, here comes an argument.
"We will not exceed our mandate, my young padawan learner," Obi-wan says, looking directly at Anakin. "I mean that in the interest of protecting her, Master." Anakin sighs; he looks embarrassed. Padme starts looking around, trying to avoid the argument that was presented in front of us.

"We will not go through this exercise again, Anakin, and you will pay attention to my lead," Obi-wan said, still keeping eye contact with Anakin. I got to admit, the relationship between these two is cute. They bicker like father and son or even brother to brother. "Why?" Anakin snaps back. This caught Obi-wan off guard. "What?" Obi-wan says the room was completely silent now. So silent, if someone were to swallow, you would be able to hear it.
"Why else do you think we were assigned to her if not to find the killer? Protection is a job for local security, not Jedi. It's overkill, Master. Investigation is implied in our mandate." Anakin says, and I would have to agree. What reason would the council have to send more Jedi unless they saw I was unfit. "We will do exactly as the council has instructed. And you will learn your place, young one." Obi-wan says this got Anakin to nod and keep quiet.
I felt bad; I wouldn't say I liked the treatment he was receiving merely because I knew exactly how it feels. I had to say something, especially since the room once again fell silent. "Perhaps with your presence, the mystery surrounding this threat will be revealed," I say. Anakin smiled and nodded.
Padme let out a sigh and got up from the couch; the rest of us did the same, following her movement. "Well, if you'll excuse me, I will retire." She says and heads back to her bedroom. I was left in the living room with the rest.
I sat back down on the couch, watching the rest leave.
"I know I'll feel better having you here. I'll have an officer stationed on every floor, and I'll be in the control center downstairs." Typho says, escorting Obi-wan and Jar Jar towards the elevator. Anakin sat down next to me, looking back and forth between Obi-Wan and myself. "It was nice to hear your voice again, y/n," he says and smiles, but quickly that smile fades again.

"I can't believe Obi-wan; he has known her for years, and yet he doesn't seem to think the idea of finding the enemy is important." he scuffs and leans back on the couch. " I agree, but we must do what the council asks, Anakin," I say; he looks back at Obi-wan and finally looks back at me. He inches towards me, keeping his head the same level as mine. "I've thought about you every day since we parted." he quietly says, a smirk on his face formed. "Anakin, I don't think that's acceptable to say," I say and quickly get up from the couch.
"You've completely forgotten about me." he shoots back and gets up as well. Forgotten about him?? I thought about him every day, but I know Jedi cannot think of such ways. It wasn't brilliant. It would cause a distraction.
"Forgotten about you? That's completely absurd." I say, rolling my eyes, which made him more upset. "Well, it sure seems like it," he says, his jawline clenched. I noticed Obi-Wan was walking back towards the center of the room. Anakin's eyes followed my glare and softened his posture. "I think she was pleased to see us," Obi-Wan says, approaching us. "Now, let's check the security," he adds. I figured now would be the best time to depart and head to my room.
I laid down on my bed; the thought of Anakin quickly filled my head. The presence that he left was different. He was different; he has grown more handsome. Did he think about me every day? Or was he being friendly? What is happening? His eyes were the same as I saw them when he was a young boy. Only now, he was more confident than ever before.
I closed my eyes, hoping the thoughts would leave my head when suddenly I heard a knock on the door. I grunted and made my way towards it only to find out Anakin was in front of me again. "Anakin, now is not the time to talk," I say, but he didn't listen. He closed the door behind him, leaving only us in the room.
"I'm sorry for the way I acted. My emotions got the best of me. It won't happen again." he says, trying his best not to make eye contact. Before I could say anything, he walked towards me but hesitantly stepped away. "I need to go help Obi-wan with the security camera if you excuse me," he says and leaves the room. Why was he acting so strange?

The Ancient Tree's Journey
On a planet far away from Earth, an ancient tree lives inside a beautiful forest. When the tree realises that its life is coming to an end, it creates a seed without a soul. The seed begins a long journey, being passed from person to person, until it finally collides with the soul of a girl from Earth and sprouts. With her human knowledge, the girl tries to survive in this world... as a tree. Note: This is my first time writing a novel, so my writing style might be a little rough around the edges sometimes, especially the first twelve are still amateur style. I'll probably rewrite them at some point... later perhaps. Also, the MC will be introduced in chapter 13. The first twelve chapters are more of an introduction to the world, so they bear little significance to the main story. Still, I recommend reading it if you want to get a better view of the world. Chapter releases once every four days.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.
