"Don't worry, this won't take long. I'm almost done." you said to Anakin as he walked into your room. You were packing a few items into a bag that you wanted to take back to Coruscant, since you probably wouldn't come back to your childhood home for some time. You were swapping out what you already had and didn't want or need with the things you did want or need from here. You placed a book you wanted into the bag as you felt Anakin's growing worry. He was also anxious about something.
"I just want to get there before dark." Anakin answered you as he started to look around your room. You continued on packing as you walked over to your dresser and took out a dress you haven't worn in some time. "You still live at home." Anakin commented.
"I move around so much, I've never had a place of my own." you answered as you looked over at him. "Official residences have no warmth. And you already know how it is with the Jedi Temple. I feel good here. I feel at home."
Anakin looked at the holograms you had hanging on your wall. "I never had a real home. Home was always where my Mom was." he said as one of the holograms caught his attention. "Is this you?"
You looked over and saw he was looking at the hologram of you and Padmè surrounded by green creatures. You were about five while Padmè was about ten. You were hugging one of the creatures as Padmè was holding the both of you. Everyone was smiling hugely in the hologram. You fondly smiled at the memory of the hologram.
"That is when I went with the relief group to Shadda-Bi-Boran, after begging my parents and the relief group to take me since they thought I may be too young. Their sun was imploding, and the planet was dying. I was helping to relocate the children." you explained as you walked over and stood next to him. "See that little one I'm holding? His name was N'a-kee-tula, which means sweetheart. He was so full life. All those kids were."

Anakin looked over to you as he felt your mood shift from contentment to sadness as he nodded his head for you to continue. You looked up at him with sad eyes. "They were never able to adapt... to live off of their native planet. They all died." you explain as Anakin sent you a comforting feeling through the Force Connection. You gave him a grateful smile as he looked over to another hologram. It was a hologram of you when you were about seven. You were standing between two robed legislators. You were wearing official robes and had a stern expression.
"My first day as an Apprentice Legislator, the youngest they ever had. Notice the difference?" you asked as you both looked at the hologram. Anakin did notice the difference. You were a bright, beaming little girl in the first hologram and a stern, unsmiling child in the next. You were ahead compared to the other children your age. You were talented in politics and very fascinated by the various topics in politics. The politicians of Naboo wasted no time in teaching you and preparing you for a highly significant role.
Anakin nodded his head to your question as you made a face, causing him to grin. You playfully rolled your eyes as you finished packing up. Anakin continued to look at the holograms and his eyes landed on one. It was a hologram of Jobal holding baby you in her one of her arms as Ruwee had one arm wrapped around Jobal's arm. Padmè and Sola, about five and nine years old, were standing in front of Jobal and Ruwee. Both parents had their free hand resting on one of the shoulders of their eldest daughters. Jobal had her hand on Sola's shoulder as Ruwee's hand was on Padmé's. Everyone was beaming and you were sound asleep, wrapped up in that white blanket with your name on it.
Anakin's thoughts went back to the conversation he had with Ruwee and learning that you were adopted. He was wondering why you didn't tell him, especially since you both were so close and open with each other. He wanted to ask questions, but he wasn't sure if it was his place.

I don't know if I can ask her that.
"You can ask whatever it is that you want to ask." you stated after hearing his thoughts. "Sorry," you began to apologize. "I don't mean to hear your thoughts. They just slip into my mind from our Force Bond, but it is a sign that it is getting stronger."
"It's okay, I don't mind. It does help when it is hard to say the right words." Anakin lightly laughed. "And like you said, our bond is getting stronger. Soon we will be able to control it better."
You nodded your head in agreement, before turning to him with slight concern. "But in all seriousness, what is it that you want to ask? I know it is troubling you."
Anakin let out a deep breath as you moved your now packed bag onto the ground and motioned for him to sit next to you on your bed. Anakin walked over as you moved some of your gown so you were sitting more comfortably. There was a moment of silence before Anakin spoke, after wording it properly in his head.
"You never mentioned that you were adopted." Anakin started. "And it was just surprising, especially when I thought we knew each other very well..." he trailed off.
"I'm not upset or angry about it!" Anakin quickly exclaimed, not wanting you to think he was feeling some type of negative emotion about it. "Your father accidentally mentioned it to me and I was curious as to why you never mentioned it before. We are partners in these Jedi prophecies and close friends. If you didn't trust me enough to tell me this, then how can you truly trust me on the battlefield. And I want to have your trust, ____. So what can I--"
"Ani." you said softly, cutting him off. You gently place your left hand on his right one. "I trust you with my life." you declared as you looked into his eyes. Anakin felt your truthfulness and it reassured him deeply.
"I did plan on telling you. Just my dad beat me to it." you chuckled. You truly did plan on opening up to Anakin about everything he didn't know about you. You had planned on it being at the lake, where it was just the two of you. It was unexpected that you both were going to have a late lunch at your parents'. "But I assure you I trust you with every ounce of my being. You know more about my personal life than anyone else at the Jedi Temple. I trust you to protect me. I trust you with all of this personal stuff that I don't share with anyone outside my family. I trust you with my life, Anakin."
"I trust you just as much." Anakin said with a small smile, feeling so much better about everything and thankful for your reassurance. You reached over to him and wrapped your arms around his shoulders. Anakin instantly returned the hug as his arms snaked over onto your waist.
"I know." you whispered into his neck as Anakin hugged you tighter, wondering how he could make a moment last forever.

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
