《Runway | MHA + Reader | Book 2 On The Run》(Not so) Great Escape

We were pulling up to a concrete building, it looked small against the large nothingness of the landscape. As we're in the middle of no where, of course.
The outside of it was obviously made to look abandoned. Broken windows, holes in the wired fence, and piles of trash and scrap metal.
"You can pull around the back, there's a back door, walk in like you own the place, get your father and leave. Immediately." She warned.
"Well don't you actually, you know own the place?" I asked yet again, slipping the gun into my waistband.
This could be a ploy. A get out of jail free card.
"We're leaving together." I reminded her.
"I'm not doing this to escape y/n, tensions have been high, no one trusts me anymore." Her hands griped the steering wheel, white knuckles clenching.
Maybe I should leave her here. Inform the Heros of her location and pretend this never happened.
"Fine, I have the location saved anyway." As she got out at the front and slipped into the drivers side and pulled around the back.
I think this is the last time I'll ever see her. Either she'll disappear, or get caught. Either way I'm going back to not having a mother.
If I ever had one in the first place.
I parked in the back, made sure I didn't look to disheveled and followed her instructions. Walk in like I own the place.
The hallway was dingy, water stains and broken pipes. Not what I expected.
I always imagined high tech, big shit, spy movie from her. That's how out of reach she seemed.
I opened door after door, walked by her goons with my chin up, no one questioned me, or noticed me much. Looked like they had somewhere to be.

The last door, it had a window into the dark room. I saw holding cells and free hanging wires.
"Must be it." I thought.
The door was locked, so I pulled out the keychain from the van and tried a few, the rusty steel clicked when I turned it.
This room was the least kept of all of them. I walked down the row until I saw a pale figure curled up in the corner of one of the cells.
"Dad?" I took care to keep my voice at a whisper.
He turned his head to me. He looked older, sadder. Fear flashed across his face when he saw me.
"Y/n? What are you doing here?" His eyes scanned the room.
"I'm saving you." I fumbled with the lock but managed to open the door.
"You shouldn't be here, if they found you-"
"They already have, sort of. I took care of it. Now let's go before something else goes wrong." I held him up by his arm. He was weak.
I tried to ignore the ache I felt, seeing me father like that. Pity won't help anyone now.
He mumbled a few questions and curses as I lead him out the back door. I helped him into the passenger side and started the engine.
I heard arguing from around the building.
I almost peaked around the corner when my common sense kicked in.
"No, you're here for one thing and you have it."
I slammed the door and sped off.
"Also I borrowed your car. It's downtown." How that felt like the most important thing to tell him was beyond me.
"How'd you find me?" He croaked.
He must have been ferried for my safety. I should have been too.
"Mom, she tried to trick me then kidnap me but I'm smarter then her so. Ended up fine." I pulled into the road.

Then I heard a gunshot. I glanced back for an instant and saw red. Another look I realized what it was, blood.
My mother was laying on the concrete in front of the building.
My mother caused the argument, no. Distraction.
Now she's dead.
"What was that?" My father jumped at the sound, he looked around for signs of danger.
"Doesn't matter." I floored it, the next few hours was the most painful drive of my life. It took too much self control to not turn around.

Tome of Stealth [A System Anti-Apocalypse]
When the Passivity Precept takes over the world it snuffs out all brutality, leaving its MMO-like Violence Simulator as humanity's only source of physical violence. Knowing how much she can make from selling epic gear, Grace Winston enters the simulation and discovers that it's more than just a game. Somewhere in there are the answers to who started the fire that killed her father. For far too long, Lorevinel Silvercat has been stuck as the Ravenborn clan’s free-roaming prisoner. They’ve held a grudge against his clan and have used him to vent their hatred. Having planned his escape for several years, he has everything ready, but he needs a specific artifact from the Rogues Guild to finally start his journey. Will Grace find her answers? Will Lore gain his freedom? Can these two unlikely people, both alien to each other, find common ground and work together while dealing with an unasked for soul bond? ToS is a Lite LitRPG (meaning very few stats with a focus on story). Expect cursing, sexual tension, descriptions of breeding dungeon rats, and a little gore. TL;DR- The System Anti-Apocalypse forces everyone to be peaceful and only commit violence inside its Magical VR game.
