You weeped on the floor of your dressing room. Mascara down your face. Your co-star and friend had just died. You were angry, devastated. They say accidents happen but this was too much.
Rock broke through the door. He had knocked four times and got no response. He heard your sobs from next door and couldn't take hearing it anymore.
He took you in his muscular arms and held you. You nuzzled your head into the crook of your his neck and soaked it with tears.
He rubbed your back and tried shushing you, "don't cry darling, he wouldn't want you to cry." He knew deep down that it wouldn't help.
"They told us to take today off. To go home. Want to come back to mine?" He offered. You obliged.
You stopped crying enough to wipe your eyes and change into civilian clothes. Rock walked you to his car and drove you to his house. It was beautiful.
He guided you to his living room where you lost it again. No words were exchanged but a heavy feeling lingered in the home.
"I told him not to."
"I know you did, but you know he was stubborn. He had his heart set on it."
"I wish I could've stopped him." You rested your head on Rock's chest. His heartbeat acted like your lullaby.
"I know you do. We all do. But don't forget he's in a better place. He's safer there. He can't get into any trouble," he chuckled.
You took a deep breath. You felt numb. Your eyes were sore and your breath felt shallow.
"Let's get you to bed." He stood up and carried you to the guest room.
"Don't forget I'm just upstairs. If you need anything just holler."

"Thank you, Rock." You held onto his hand and kissed his knuckle.
He let go and closed the door quietly. You rolled to your side and looked out the window. The night sky looked like a painting.
Rock was right. It was hard to admit at the time, but you knew deep down he was in a better place. He was always being told what he can and cannot do and now he was free. Your mindset changed that night and you were able to go to sleep with that little bit of peace.
