You tried to sleep with your window open. It was easier said than done. The wind was howling out there and it scared you. It was just too hot in your room otherwise.
You rolled over, longing for some rest to come your way. To your dismay, you got none. You left your bedroom and went into the kitchenette for a glass of warm milk. Frank was sitting at the table drinking a glass of water.
"Can't sleep either?" He asked, making you shake your head.
"The wind scares me, how about you?"
"My date stood me up again."
You and Frank were the best of friends for as long as you could remember. You had feelings for him but always doubted him returning those feelings. So, you pushed it to the side and tried to forget about it. Things were fine that way. Things were great, actually.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay, it's my fault. I should take a break from the dating scene for a while. Being treated this way can really hurt a guy." He put his glass in the sink for the morning.
You stood in silence. Finishing your glass before repeating Frank's action. Your eyes were droopy and Frank could read the look of exhaustion on your face.
"Come on, let's get to bed." He placed his hand on the small of your back.
You got into bed and to your surprise, he followed you. He laid on his side in your tiny twin bed and made sure you felt safe. A protected arm across your waist.
"You don't have to worry with me around." You closed your eyes. Frank played with your hair, letting it spin around his finger.
"Maybe that's the thing. Maybe that's why I keep failing at this love stuff," he muttered to himself. He pressed a sweet kiss to your lips.
"Maybe I've been in love with you all this time."

This is my first attempt at writing and I haven't done much of it since I left University 13 years ago. This is also more of a hobby than trying to become an author but that doesn't mean I will drop it just don't expect fast releases. I will mainly work on an Arc and post the arc's chapters in groups when I finish a whole arc. Kinda like Side B used to be.
