《The Girl Down Dandelion Lane》Chapter Twenty Two - Promises

On a chilly Brighton Pier, myself and Brandon got to know one another. With the cold sea wind whipping itself all around us, we talked about many things—work, family, pets, likes and dislikes—the usual stuff that two strangers talk about.
Meeting Brandon, it had excited me.
He was the brother of a massive pop star. The massive pop star, who I had many times crushed over, who I had watched on the telly, so many many times. So, to have been asked by Brandon to walk around Brighton with him, felt like I was living and breathing some fantastic dream.
But it wasn't a dream.
It really happened.
"Who is your favourite in the band?" Brandon had asked me, happily holding my hand still in his.
"Your brother." I couldn't lie. I didn't like liars, and wasn't about to become one.
Brandon had chuckled. "I like your honesty, Mary Rose...it's a good quality to have." He then turned to me, to see whether I was about to be even more honest. "How do you feel about drugs? Have you ever tried them?"
My answer was as forthright as my last. "I've never tried them, so I can't really say how I feel about them. I suppose, it's a case of each to their own, isn't it?"
Again, Brandon had smiled. "Do you want to come into the hotel with me?" Then came so suddenly from out of his mouth.
Unsure of what his intentions were to be with me, I immediately expressed that. "Why do you want me to go to the hotel with you?"
Sweeping his arm right around me, Brandon laughed. "I'd like you to meet my brother, that's all."
Internally, I really was screaming at this point. I'm about to meet Beau Buchanan! Oh. My. God. Beau Buchanan! This can't be happening!

But it really was happening.
It really did happen.
True to his charming word, Brandon took me to meet his very famous brother. And the weirdest part about it all, was that I did it so calmly. Beau Buchanan was chilling out, chilling before the concert. What was even weirder, he was watching a rugby match, that had teams playing from where I lived—it was all kinds of weird.
"They're from where I live." I had blurted out, unable to keep the coincidence inside of me.
"Are they?" Beau had replied, smiling at me with the same charm that is brother had. "Are you coming to see us?" He then asked.
Calmly, I nodded. "Yes, me and my friend are looking forward to it."
"That's great, I hope you enjoy our performance."
It was at this point, that two bodyguards came in with Sadie following behind them. She looked pleased to see me, overwhelmed with how our afternoon had quickly unfolded, maybe? "I hope the boys have been taking good care of you?" Beau asked Sadie, picking up on her unease upon entering the hotel room.
Sadie had meekly shrugged, almost reluctant to answer. "Yes."
But Beau sensed that something was wrong, because so had I. "You two get out, I want to speak to Mary Rose and her friend." Kicking out the two bodyguards who had brought Sadie up to the hotel room, Beau now wanted the truth. "Did anything happen?" He directly asked Sadie.
Shaking her head, my friend had answered quietly. "No, but the one was saying inappropriate things. It just scared me a little, that's all, but now I'm here with Mary Rose, I'm okay."
Feeling terrible, I had cuddled my shaken up friend. "I'm so sorry." Guiltily fell from out of my mouth.

"I'm okay. I'm just glad I'm back with you." Sadie said with obvious relief.
But Beau Buchanan wasn't okay. He was furious. He had stomped out of the room, and was gone some time before eventually coming back in...and with him, he had the offending bodyguard. "Apologise?" Beau had demanded.
"I'm sorry if I offended you in any way, it won't happen again." Was sheepishly said to Sadie.
"And apologise to Mary Rose? It was her friend that you've upset." Beau again demanded.
Doing as he was told, the bodyguard promptly apologised. "I'm sorry, Mary Rose."
I had simply nodded in his direction, saying nothing, but kind of wanted to now just get out of the hotel room.
"Listen, we have to get to the arena, but it was lovely to meet you, Mary Rose." Beau then picked up a clear polythene bag, that had items of his in it. I know that had intrigued me at the time. For all of his fame, on that day, all of his belongings were being carried around in a polythene bag. "And Brandon, you take care of her, right?" His brotherly stare had fallen right on his sibling.
Putting a protective arm around me, Brandon sternly nodded. "I will."
"Sorry about earlier, Sadie...I hope you like the show." Then with a wave, and his own bodyguards following behind him, Beau Buchanan was quickly gone from the hotel room.
It was while we were in the lift, that Brandon took off his necklace that he was wearing, wanting to give it to me. But I had refused. I'd only just met this guy. I didn't want him thinking that I only wanted to be in his company because of what I could get from him. "I want you to have something, to remind you of today." Was his explanation for the offer of his necklace.
After what can only be described as a playful lovers tiff, I eventually accepted a locker token from Brandon. It was all I would accept from him. And you know what? I still have that locker token. In a tiny jewellery box, I still have that silly keepsake.
Myself and Sadie did indeed go to the Brighton show. As soon as Brandon saw me, he had his bodyguards lift me over the security gates, and of course Sadie, so we could both watch the concert from the side of the stage. In Brandon's arms, I had watched his brother and the rest of the band, perform a truly amazing show.
In his arms, I dared to wonder.
I dared to dream.
I had returned home that evening, with a promise from Brandon that he would call me from Germany, the next European tour destination for his brother and his band. His promise was given, in exchange for one of my own—that I would meet him in Birmingham when he and his brothers band were back in England.
I had never been promised such things before, nor had I made such promises myself, but for Brandon, I was willing to keep my promise.

Another world
For some, this old story would always be altered, but the outcome was always the same. 'The Evening Celebration.' Some blame humanity for provoking them, while others accuse monsters from another realm, and a few believed it was all merely the devil's fault. There is now a killer in the city. Attacking all the young ladies, pulling something from within them, and abandoning them on the doorsteps of their loved ones. Exactly similar to the old story. Will this issue ever be resolved, or will it be the start of something new? Ignoring the matter is also an option. Continuing with their everyday routine is generally a wise decision. That's just for the time being, of course. Till the plot leads them to someone they should have never encountered.

Hiding in the broken building of her old high-school, seventeen-year-old Marylou is one of the few to have survived this far. She doesn't believe in the Ghosts -- shapeless creatures said to roam under the rain outside -- but, to be fair, she doesn't really believe in anything except booze and the unconditioned love of her ball python snake, Evil Noodle. Chance brings Marylou together with Amy, a mysterious girl with an even more mysterious past, and Dean and Ray, two young men running what they call 'the last pizza place in California'. As the Storm rages on stronger by the day, the foursome will have to make a choice: keep hiding under roof after roof, waiting for starvation, or set out to the road and face whatever hides out there, under the Storm.

Murderously Disturbed
This collection chronicles the horrific contents of my brain in poetic form. This is not for the faint of heart. It contains terrifying moments of murder, suicide, mayhem, rituals, hauntings, and nightmares in various poetic forms from ballads to sonnets and many more. Most of these pieces are oneshot tales, but the "Haunted Blades" ballad sequence is marked with an asterisk (*) throughout the collection to denote an interconnected series of poems.
