《War of the Sexes》Chapter 2

"What's she doing on this side?" I heard a deep voice say to my left.
"Dude like I know. I just found her here. I didn't know what to do!" Said a voice to my right
"Well what do we do with her?" the left one asked
"I don't know!" the right shouted
I coughed, suddenly unable to breath. My body curled up into a ball as I coughed up dirt. I covered my mouth, eyes squeezed shut.
I opened my eyes once I'd finished to find two guys staring at me with horrified expressions. I gazed up helplessly at them, not sure how to react. I'd
never seen them before in my entire life. I was freaked out.
"Uhhh...." The one on the left said. His face was framed by long brown hair, brushing the tips of his shoulders. His shirt was torn slightly around the
collar, the shade of light blue standing out against his dark skin.
The one next to him had short black hair which stuck out in all different angles. His bright blue eyes seemed to see right through me as they met
mine. His black shirt was the same color of his hair, slightly tan skin matching my tone.
"Who are you" I managed to get out. My voice was horse and my throat stung a little from the coughs. At the time, I barely noticed. My heart was
pounding in my chest, fear racing through my veins. Who were these guys? What did they want with me? Where was i?
"Who are you" The brown haired one countered
I blinked back, surprised "I...I'm Ellie"
"Well Ellie" He said, seeming to recover from the shock he had previously been in. The brown-haired boy stood up slowly "What are you doing on our

side?"
"Wh...what?" I asked, confused. The black-haired boy rose also, rising a couple inches above the one that was speaking to me.
"You heard me. Now answer the question"
"I..I don't know what you're talking about" I said, slightly louder. My fear was growing inside of me. What 'side' was I not supposed to be on? "What do
you want with me?"
"Who sent you over here?" The brown-haired boy demanded "Was it Trina?"
"Who's Trina?" I said, my voice shaking with fear "I don't even know where I am!"
"Stop bullshitting me" He yelled at me "Either tell me who sent you, or you're never going back"
"What?! Please, I don't know what you're talking about!" I said, feeling my eyes start to water. "I don't know who Trina is!"
The boys looked at each other, whispering words that were too lower for my ears to pick up. My eyes moved back and forth between each, hoping
they would pity me and release me back to my home. I had to idea where I was. I hadn't even had the chance to look at my surroundings. But I was too afraid
to even glance away from the boys. I needed to know what they intended on doing with me. This was a life or death situation...literally.
"Alright get up" The brown-haired boy demanded, looking at me in disgust.
"What-what are you going to do with me?" I whispered, loud enough for them to hear.
"I didn't say you could talk, so shut the fuck up, girl" He said, grabbing me by the back of my shirt. I gasped, arching my back slightly. I held back a
sob that threatened to rip through me.
He half-dragged, half-pushed me along, my feet stumbling over each other. He didn't let me recover, just continued to drag me. The other boy was

on my other side, still remaining as silent as possible. He didn't touch me, didn't look at me. Just faced forward like a soldier in a war.
I'm not sure how long we walked. It could have been hours, it could have been minutes for all I knew. The one thing I was certain of though, was that
I was absolutely going to have blisters on my feet after this trip. I may have been in normal shoes, but the way I was being dragged hurt my feet so much. I
was nearly in tears to begin with. I wasn't sure how I managed, but I didn't release one on the trip.
We approached a house, the back of it to be exact. It didn't seem to be in very good condition from what I could tell bits and pieces of it hanging off.
There were leaves all around the yard. Our feet crunched them as we walked forward.
The black-haired boy ran forward, opening the door that led into the house. I was shoved roughly into it, stumbling again. Pain shot through my ankle
as I landed on it badly. I let out a cry of pain, which earned me a push to the ground.
"Didn't I tell you to shut up?" The boy growled. I grabbed my ankle, a tear finally leaking out. I whimpered slightly from the pain, earning me a kick in
the back, not as rough as it could be.
"Please!" I begged "Stop!"
"Why should i?"
"My ankle!" I cried out, another tear trickled down "Please!"
"Dude" the other boy finally spoke. "Enough already"
I couldn't hold it back. A sob ripped through me, grabbing both of their attention. The dam had broken, my tears pouring out now.
I heard a sigh, but was unable to tell from which one it had come from.
"Look, girl. You're going to stay here. One of us will be down with you all the time. You make a word, you get beaten, alright? Whenever you want to
tell us who sent you, feel free"
"I don't know what you're talking about! No one sent me anywhere! I don't even know where I am!" I yelled, trying to get that through their thick head.
"Shut up while I'm talking!"
I bit my lip to hold back my outbursts.
"I'm going to sleep. You take the first shift. I'll be back in eight hours" The brown-haired boy said. He walked off, footsteps heading up the stairs.
I was curled up on the floor, still clutching my ankle. It hurt like crazy. I had never broken, fractured, or sprained anything of mine. I didn't know what
happened, or if it was just me overreacting, but it hurt like crazy.
The black-haired boy walked over to me, crouching a few feet away. He stuck out a hand, cautiously, signaling that he wasn't as rude as the other
guy.
"Are you alright?"
I gave a slight shake of the head "No. It hurts"
"Let me see your ankle" he whispered, reaching for it. I released my hands from around my ankle, but didn't move it for fear of feeling the pain.
I was scared to death here, and worried sick that the other boy would come back down and hurt me again. But I felt like maybe the black-haired one
wasn't so bad. Maybe...just maybe...
