《Fixing Each Other》Chapter 23

I watched him as he slept, still slightly scared that he'd slip sometime during the night. I lay his head on my chest and ran my hands through his hair. I held him close to me, letting the sparks flow through me as they always do when we touched.
Seeing him unconscious and bleeding like he was shot panic to my very core. I couldn't believe I nearly lost him. His arms tightened around my waist and he snuggled closer to me. I smiled at him, still running my hands through his hair
"Mmhm that's nice," he mumbled groggily as he looked up at me. I smiled at him. "Why aren't you sleeping?" He asked tiredly. I shook my head and shrugged. He nodded and snuggled, held onto me. "You should sleep baby." He grumbled before yawning.
"Yeah." I whispered. As he closed his eyes again. It didn't take long for him to drop off again. I closed my eyes as the day was finally catching up to me. I fell asleep with Jerome holding me.

I felt this tickling sensation on my face as I wiped my hand on my face turning on my side. Whatever it was, was now tickling my side. I shoved it off, groaning. I heard a deep chuckle. Peeling my eyes open I began blinking rapidly, my eyes adjusting to the brightness of the room. I looked around, rubbing my eyes groggily. I saw Jerome hovering over me, his eyes shining with happiness. He carefully leant down to kiss my neck. I smiled.
"Good morning." He whispered.
"Indeed." I said I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled "how are you feeling today?" I said tracing the large cut on his face my face pulled into a frown. This is going to scar. He lay back down, and I stood to my feet and pulled up his shirt to inspect his wounds. They seem to be healing nicely. I poked around the wounds, he didn't wince when I did. I poked around some more and he seemed to not mind. I straightened my shirt and slipped on my shoes.
"I'm going to talk to Tommy. I'll be back soon." I said. I walked out into the hall and looked around to see if I could see him. I couldn't so I went to his office. Knocking on the door I waited for a response and sure enough I got one. He walked out and greeted me with a warm smile.

"Hey, sweetheart. How's Jerome?" I smiled.
"He's okay I think would you just err come and check him over whilst I grab some food for us." I asked sheepishly. He nodded, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, I can do that." He said as he stared to walk in that direction. In heading to the cafeteria, my stomach growling loudly. I walked into the café and inhaled the fresh coffee scent filling my senses. I was shocked to see Jeremiah in there too. He was with a girl. Autumn, I presumed. I walked over to him and said, hey.
"Bridget. Hey, how is he?" He asked worriedly. I shook my head.
"Yeah no everything is okay Tommy is just checking him out to see if that's true. But he seemed to be okay with it when I was touching him, he wasn't like wincing in pain y'know." I explained.
"Touching him?" I heard her question as I tensed turning to her. I nodded.
"Yeah touching him," I smirked as her face dropped. Jeremiah scoffed from the side of the table, his face lifted into a smile. "Anyway, I need to grab some food. Running low on energy." I said with a wink.
—
I got back to the room to find Jerome standing next to Jeremiah I handed him his drink, and he accepted it gratefully. I saw autumn sitting on a chair in the room. She had a hand over her belly holding her bump. I saw how Jerome's posture was ridged and he seemed tense. I wanted to help him forget his worries and to help him relax. I placed his food onto the table and wrapped my arms around his neck his hands held my hips I smiled and pulled his face to mine kissing him. It was quite an intimate moment and the fact she was watching made me feel better now that she knows he's mine. I pulled back, and he narrowed his eyes at me.
I smiled sweetly before I sat on his bed. "So What did Tommy say?" I asked, picking at a muffin I got for Jerome. He grinned.
"I'm good to go. I still have some pain but I've healed quickly, most likely because of you. But I have to come back on Wednesday to get the stitches on my face taken out. But right now, I'd really love to get out of here." He said causing me to grin. I leaned into him and he pulled me into a hug as he kissed my forehead. I blushed, looking away.

"We can come back later if you two would like some privacy." Jeremiah mumbled awkwardly. Jerome stared at him seriously.
"Would you? I have a few things I need to discus with my mate." He said as he glanced toward Autumn she looked annoyed and I was happy about it. Once they left he turned to me, his happy look gone. "I know you're jealous." I smiled and looked at the floor.
"Do you just want to hear me say it?" I mumbled, poking his shoulder. He nodded I groaned "fine I was jealous. I mean, can you blame me she's gorgeous. And I'm just scared you still have feelings for her." I huffed, not looking at him. He tensed up. Not looking at me. An angry expression on his face.
"What do you?" I asked, my heart on my sleeve. He said nothing, he only looked at the floor.
And then it hit me. He used me to get a reaction out of her. I kissed him to show her he was mine; he kissed me back to make her jealous. My eyes teared up.
"I think you should leave." He mumbled, my heart sunk as I looked at him.
"Not until you tell me the truth." I protested. He growled at me, snarling slightly.
"I said leave. Now go. Get the hell out of here." He yelled. It stunned me. Why was he being like this? I stood up, glaring at him.
"You know what screw you. Asshole!" I growled as I stormed out of the room I stormed passed Jeremiah he caught my wrist and pulled me back.
"What's wrong?" He asked sincerely. I shook my head as I wiped a tear from my cheek.
"Your brother's a jerk." I huffed before storming out of the hospital. I got back to my room Rose was sitting on my bed upon hearing me enter she looked up. I locked the door behind me and let out a sob. Rose rushed over to me as I dropped to the floor, sobbing. She hugged me and I sobbed harder.
"He loves her. He still loves her." I cried, gripping her shirt she held me for a while before she sat up and grabbed my hands. She pulled me up and walked me over to the bed I got in and began crying harder. This weight inside of my chest was ripping me down to the floor. I couldn't think, couldn't breathe properly.
"I'll be back soon," Rose whispered "don't go anywhere." I heard her open the door and close it behind her. I stayed curled up into my chest, my eyes leaking my sadness all over the pillow. I got up and locked the door. Before I got back into bed, I was still upset very upset.
I was just drifting off when Seth's mind linked me
"Alpha come quickly. It's the hunters. I'm at the lake on the north side " His voice was worried, which startled me. I got up and got dressed and quickly made my way to where Seth said he was. There was a large crowed which was being held back by the barrier that was surrounding what I assumed to be a body.
I wiped my face trying to look normal, but it was obvious I had been crying. I pushed my way through the crowd and held back a scream when I saw what had happened. Two wolves dead in their human state. Their throats have been cut, and they both had multiple arrows protruding out of their flesh. But what caught my eye was the little symbol burned onto their abdomens.
It was a circle with a wolfs print inside that had been shot with an arrow. I gasped.
Keme's Circle.

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
