《Paint Me a Poetry》04: After the Storm

A special poem dedicated for Yolanda survivors.
•••
When Haiyan struck, darkness ascent,
Night and day were no different.
With the sun no longer confident,
Shadows of despair was present.
Screams you'd hear in the dead of night,
Horrible cries of corpse out of sight.
Stench of regret of those who want to fight,
Mourn in the air as it took flight.
But in the horizon when the sun rose,
Reflected the dead with their final pose.
Terror in their open eyes, froze on their toes,
The raging waves were indeed their final foes.
Not a place you'd see stood tall,
All bowed in the bout of fall.
The wealth and treasure in the hall,
Stained by mud, now useless like a ball.
On the flood paper bills you'd see,
Now invaluable next to the remaining tree.
Could not even suffice as a fee,
Hungry stomach it could not set free.
Here come the cries of those who survived,
Existing they were but whose soul unalive.
Not only were they to light deprived,
Relief and glee were late to arrive.
To steal in the mall they desperately did,
Grab hold of food to hunger get rid.
Uncaring of things that fuel greed,
To survive the day's their being in need.
Next to living death was merely nothing,
Not when the aftermath morphed into a terrible being.
Every priced trophy was crushed where they're standing,
They and their life's the only thing existing.
Piles of trash you'd see everywhere you look,
Tacloban turned into a ghostly nook.
Man and woman before it shook,
Might in there be a corpse to rebuke.
Darkest of times it really was,
Death and life suffered thus.
Where there was not a mass,
Who didn't fear the storm when it pass.

Victor of Tucson [A LitRPG/Progression Fantasy]
Victor was an average eighteen-year-old kid from Tucson, Arizona, trying to figure out his life after high school and focus on getting his act together. One hot summer day, he stepped into his grandma's house and disappeared, snatched out of his life by some unsavory fellows from another world. Things don't get better from there, unfortunately, as the gents who summoned him deem him worthless and offload him to a member of low society who happens to run a pit fighting business. Victor's time in this new world might be short, indeed. Release Schedule: 4k+ word chapters every Sunday and Thursday. Starting in July, I'll have more time, and I will increase post frequency. If you get caught up on this story, you might like my other ongoing novel, Falling with Folded Wings. It's over a thousand pages on RR, with lots more to come. Important Patreon Note: My Patreon has advance copies (30+) of my other fiction. So far, I only have 10 advance copies of Victor on there. This may change in the summer, but for now, please bear it in mind when supporting me through Patreon. Thank you! Cover Art by: Carlos Monteiro Part 2 Art by: PanGalactic

Tale of the Modern Magus
You must be thinking how wonderful it would be to awaken Magic at some point in your life. You must believe it would be a blessing. You would be able to become famous and rich with the flick of your finger. It is no blessing, it is not wonderful. If you awaken magic you will probably spend most of your life trapped within a secret facility, getting your blood drained and bone marrow taken. Until you are too sick to be able to produce decent blood. Then you’ll be dissected and used for materials. The other option is to run. Run and keep running for the rest of your life, staying one step ahead from those trying to catch you. Forever wishing for a normal life. Roland’s tale isn’t a happy one. Sure there are good moments, good days, and sometimes even good months, but overall it is a terrible tale to tell. This tale is one about a man on the run. Yet it is also one about a man trying to overcome all odds, trying to find security, attempting to latch onto the sliver of hope visible before his very eyes. This is a tale with countless setbacks. People will die, cities fall, ideologies rise. Follow Roland on what would, at first, appear to be a journey to greatness.
