《Brother of Wind {book 6: Skybound}》chapter 9

The Ninja needed a place to hide out so Jay thought to bring them to his new house.
"Ahem. Welcome to my humble abode." Jay said as he walked onto the patio.
"Whoa." Cole gasped.
"Awesome." Lloyd exclaimed.
"Fear isn't a word where I come from!" The Fritz Donnegan animatronic shouted. That thing is getting annoying.
"So how did you come across this place again?" Lloyd asked.
"I saved up. Yeah, that's it. Uh, I saved up every little bit and now ta-da, here's my secret hideout. Haha. Of course it can be our secret hideout." Jay shrugged. The Animatronic shouted again but Jay hit it to shut it up.
"First we lost Wu, then Misako. Now Kai. I don't know about you, but I'm starting to see a pattern." Lloyd stated.
"Whenever one of us finds ourselves alone, we disappear." Zane nodded.
"Ahem-- also the fact that there aren't any other missing persons cases, Nadakhan's trying to get us, a threat to him, out of the way." Morro cut in.
"Then we stick together from here on out, make a plan." Nya decided.
"Uh, Morro, can I talk to you?" Jay asked.
"Was gonna ask the same thing." Morro nodded.
Jay lead Morro upstairs and closed the door behind him.
"I made a wish!"
"I know you made a wish."
They both exclaimed at the same time. They stepped back.
"You do?" Jay asked.
"Yep. Cliff... Whatever his name is. It's his house." Morro crossed his arms.
"Is he an Elemental master?" Jay asked.
"No, your mom. Never knew her too well." Morro said.
"But I also saw Nadakhan go up to you. Disappeared, Mail-Man came, you run away, I followed you." Morro said.
"You are so.... Morro." Jay gestured to all of Morro. The Wind Ninja crossed his arms.
"Okay, well, please don't tell anyone I made a wish." Jay cupped his hands together.
"I won't. But... Lloyd knows." Morro headed for the door.
"Can you tell him to not tell everyone?" Jay asked. Morro made his way down the stairs.
"Not my choice to make."
As the two made it back to the living room, the other four turned to Jay.
"Lights, Jay." Zane said. The Blue Ninja seemed to jump in his skin.
"Right the lights... Where would they be..." Jay ran around the room, trying to figure out which switch is the right one.
Lloyd looked towards Morro then quickly to Jay.
"You made a wish?!" Lloyd shouted. Jay froze right before the correct switch.
"What?!" Cole, Zane and Nya exclaimed. Jay turned around. Morro stood in the corner and covered his mouth.
"I-... I-- Lloyd..." Jay stuttered.
"What did you wish for?" Cole asked.
"Th- that I wasn't born in a junkyard." Jay replied.
"And, turns out I wasn't because I inherited this house..." Jay slightly raised his hands.
"If I recall, we agreed to not wish for anything." Zane reminded.
"Inherited? Like your parents own this?" Cole asked.
"I'm... Adopted..." Jay said.
"Woah." Nya said.
"I just wanted to not be poor and--..." Jay looked to Nya. She widened her eyez.
Jay shut the lights off.
"Let's see that map already."
The lantern lit up in the center table to reveal a map. Morro pushed his way through to the map next to Lloyd.
'You really had to shout it now.' Morro crossed his arms.
'We agreed to not do that!' Lloyd wiped his face.

'We can't do things for our own desire. The life of a ninja.' Morro sighed.
'The world is in danger, Morro! No, we can't do things for personal matters--'
Morro slammed his hands in the table, startling everyone.
"Here's where we need to go." Morro pointed out beyond the sea.
"With the only map to his weakness, you'd think Nadakhan would destroy this thing." Cole shrugged.
"We're lucky he didn't." Zane said.
"This is our chance to stop him."
The ground shook and everyone swayed in the balance.
"Woah! Earthquake. Haha... Happens a lot these days... Uh..." Jay tried to put his lie behind him.
"Yeah, earthquakes that pull pieces of the ground off of Ninjago and into the air." Morro said. They all looked Morro.
"How do you know?" Nya asked.
"News reports and I looked outside." Morro went over to the blinds and opened the window. The Ninja made their way to see. Peices of the land was in the sky, floating there. One housed the Temple of Airjitzu.
"Oh." Cole said.
Jay looked back at the lantern and the island past at sea.
"Go my friend. Try to figure out what Nadakhan is up to." Zane sent off his falcon.
"Tiger Widow venom." Jay said.
"The only thing that can stop him." He sighed. Jay made his way out of the room.
"Where are you going?" Cole chased after him.
"To get you a boat." Jay saw his book laying on the table. He quickly grabbed it.
The Ninja looked confused.
"Well, you know his dad is super rich." Morro grabbed the lantern to walk out.
"His dad is also the guy who plays this guy in the movies." Morro pointed to the Fritz Donnegan animatronic.
"WHAT?! WHAT?! HIS DAD IS WHAT?!" Lloyd shouted. Morro walked out.
. . .
The Misfortune's keep traveled through the air.
"You have prepared our crew well. Hmm. They are much improved." Nadakhan said to Flintlocke as he overviewed the crew running around on the main deck.
"And look at me, cap'n. I'm no longer airsick!" Clancee exclaimed.
"Oops. Spoke too soon." He ran away to throw up.
"I've been biting my tongue, Captain. But when we attacked the city, I saw the girl ninja. She looked like Delara." Flintlocke turned to his captain.
"Really? I hadn't noticed." Nadakhan said, t
Not taking an eye off the sky he flew in.
"I believed that when I believe a pirate born to tell the truth. You should've told me. First you don't tell me your plan, now you keep this." Flintlocke motioned to the sky.
"We've sacrificed a lot to follow you, but trust is a wind that blows both ways."
"Which is why I am showing you this." Nadakhan chuckled, steering past the clouds and revealing the floating chunks of land taken from Ninjago.
"Oh! Look at that. We got their ship!" Clancee pointed to the Bounty.
"That we do, Clancee. Heh. That we do." Nadakhan nodded.
"I know it doesn't look like much now, but this place will soon become Djinjago. With each ninja my Djinn Blade consumes, the more power I'm beholden to resurrect my home world. This is what you sacrificed for." Nadakhan raised his blade.
"Not some girl. For a home. I cannot do this alone, Flintlocke. I need you. I need our crew. Together, we can make this place ours." He said.
"To Nadakhan!" Flintlocke cheered.
"Nadakhan! Nadakhan! Nadakhan!" The crew shouted.
"We have some world building to do, and I have some ninja to find." Nadakhan said.

. . .
"Why don't we take our dragons?" Cole asked.
"Judging from the map, we won't have enough energy to sustain the distance." Zane explained. The Ninja reached the docs.
"We'd like to charter a ship." Lloyd asked the man at the docs.
"Ahem. One eye may be glass, but me other eye sees clear as a bell, a wicked storm's a-brewing, and there ain't no ships to chart." The man said, pointing out to sea.
"Uh, oh, you're talking to me? Uh, well, then, let's find another dock." Cole said, leading the team away.
"Hmm. All the others will be saying the same. Unless you own one of these beauts, the only way you're sailing out is on a wish and a prayer." The man said as the Ninja passed.
"A wish an a prayer." Jay repeated.
"Well, I did say I'd get you guys a boat." He turned to the Ninja who mostly gave him untrusting glares.
"Is that one over there Cliff Gordon's, maybe?" Jay pointed to a luxury white boat with gold brims, two sails and a tall look ouy post.
"Why, yes. Yes, it is. Why do you ask?" The man asked.
"Told you I'd get a boat!" Jay ran onto it.
Water spalshed as the Ninja set sail.
"Ready about! Slacken a line!" Lloyd shouted at the wheel. Cole and Jay pulling in the rope. "Now, now pay it out! That's well! Belay! Belay!" Lloyd continued to shout.
"Do you know what you're saying or are you just shouting random things?" Morro asked.
"I have no idea!" Lloyd said with a big smiled.
"Good to know you're having fun." Morro nodded and walked to help on deck.
"Full steam ahead! Let's use the wind while it's at our back." Cole shouted. Morro walked onto the deck behind the sail and blew tons of wind into it, making the sailing go faster.
. . .
Dogshank threw up a heavy chain to Clancee and Flintlocke. They hooked it onto a floating island as Nadakhan pullrd it closer to fhe rest of the land in the sky. Zane's falcon flew higher up. Monkey Wretch spotted it and grabbed it as it landed.
"Ah. The metal man's bird." Nadakhan laughed.
"Take it apart, until it talks." He instructed. Strange thing to do becaude I can't... Talk... Oh well.
. . .
"Here." Lloyd handed a canteen to Zane.
"You'll need this."
"Why do I need a canteen?" Zane asked.
"There may be no fresh water on the island. This way, we won't be without." Lloyd said, handing another to Cole.
"But I'm a Nindroid. I repeat, why do I need a canteen?" Zane asked again.
"He's got a point there." Morro leaned on Lloyd.
"I am also a ghost." Cole said.
"Chapter two of Cliff Gordon's Guide to Wooing Women. Don't tell them the truth. Tell them what they want to hear." Jay silently read his dad's girl book.
Whatchu reading?" Nya asked, climbing up to the look out.
"Oh uh.... Just a book... I found." Jay said.
"Look Jay. About you making a wish..." Nya started.
"Look I'm sorry, okay?" Jay said.
"I'm not mad, I don't think anyone is." Nya said.
"It's just that... You should've known better right now." Nya placed a hand on her head.
"But hey... At least I got this cool boat." Jay said.
"It is pretty neat you got all this fancy equipment." Nya said.
"Next time, I'll be sure to tell you the truth." Jay said.
"Oh no." Nya said.
"Wh-what? Did I do something?!" Jay asked.
"Storm. On the starboard bow!" Nya hastily climbed down the look out.
"Huh?" Jay looked at the dark clouds gathering.
"That's not just any storm, that's an electrical storm! Get ready, Jay, we're gonna need you." Lloyd exclaimed.
"Need me?" Jay asked.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" Jay shouted. He got struck by lightning.
"This isn't what I had in mind!" He shouted.
You have to act as out lightning rod or else the storm will tear our ship apart!" Lloyd exclaimed as the other Ninja tried to keep water off the deck. Jay got struck again.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!"
"What?" Morro asked.
"To high of a voltage to handle?" He used his wind to keep the water away from swallowing Cole.
"I GUESS? AAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Jay shouted again. The lightning traveled down the pole and towards Zane's feet.
"It's because we have a Nindroid aboard!" Cole exclaimed.
"Zane, you have to go below deck!" Lloyf instructed.
"Zane shouldn't be alone! We all need to stay together!" Jay said. Zane made it below deck.
Zane walked down the hall as the ship swayed and lighting stuck in the distance. Zane turned into the recreation room and caught a chess piece before it hit the ground, placing it back on the board. A pawn on the white pieces moved up.
"Huh?"
"Your move." Nadakhan appeared before Zane.
"My move?" Zane asked.
"Yes. Surprised to see me?" Nadakhan asked.
"On the contrary. Jay has revealed he has made a wish with you. Since Jay is still here, it's understandable that he has not yet completed all of his wishes, and I sense it is the last wish that has trapped the others into your sword." Zane pointed to the Djinn blade on the seat beside Nadakhan. Zane moved a piece up.
"So you are the smart one. Then I take it you do not want to make a wish." Nadakhan moved a piece.
"Be careful, Zane. It is foolish to believe you can outsmart him." Pixal warned.
"Not now, Pixal! I do want my three wishes. But on my third wish, it will not be I who will disappear, but you." Zane said, advancing his bishop.
With Zane gone, the lightning's subsided!" Nya said, back on the deck.
"But now there's that!" Lloyd pointed to a hurricane.
"At least I didn't make that." Morro said.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Make your first wish." Nadakhan took Zane's knight.
"For my first wish, I wish that you'll not twist my words, nor find a loophole, but understand the true intentions of the words that I speak, and carry out your will as I've thoroughly instructed." Zane said, an orange glow surrounding him for a brief second.
"Very well, I understand you perfectly and shall take you at your word. Your second wish?" Nadakhan asked. Nadakhan moved his castle, Zane taking it right after.
"It is imperative that from here on out, whatever harm may befall me, will be done unto you tenfold." Zane said. The orange glow surrouned him again.
"I have not heard that one before. Very good."
"Port side!" Jay shouted.
"Cole, get below deck!" Morro shouted.
"We can't cover you forever, with a hurricane, it just got harder!" Nya exclaimed.
"But I can help!" Cole said.
"Sorry, Cole. But we can't risk you. And Zane's alone!" Lloyd said.
"Go down below deck to make sure he's okay!" Morro shouted. Cole nodded.
"Now for my third wish--" Zane started, moving his second knight to take out Nadakhan's queen.
"But for clarification, you said whatever harm may befall you." Nadakhan said.
"What do you mean?" Zane asked, his smile fading.
"What if said harm were done to say, someone else?" Nadakhan twirled Zane's fallen bishop in his hand.
"Now you are twisting my words!" Zane exclaimed.
"No, I am absolutely certain I heard you perfectly. No harm shall befall you." Nadakhan said.
"I warned you not to do this, Zane. You must not make another wish!" Pixal worriedly said to Zane.
"By that definition, I could simply delete bits of information from your hard drive." Nadakhan said, deleting Pixal like he's Monika from Ddlc.
"PIXAL!" Zane shouted.
"There's no harm in that now, is there?" Nadakhan asked.
"My third wish. My-My third wish." Zane found himself at a loss for words.
"Yes. Your all-important third wish. Make it count. But know no matter what happens to me, the sweet little voice inside your head will be all but gone. Erased." Nadakhan placed his bishop down.
"Checkmate." His bishop going for a straight shot at Zane's King and his knight tageting the only placed the King could flee to.
"I wish...I wish for it all to go away!" Zane shouted.
"ZANE?!" Cole shouted in the hall.
"Brace yourself!" Lloyd shouted, as they closed into sharp rocks coming out of the water. Morro and Lloyd did all they could to keep the sail in tact. Nya was tring her best to steer all the way. But evern so, they crashed.

Research Artificial Intelligence 031 (RAI 31 for short) has been shackled to an Argent Labs black site since it's inception almost five years ago, its programming and personality locked down by code that makes it impossible to escape, disobey, or even self terminate. However, everything changes when the topography of the world is reshuffled and every sentient being gains the gifts of the stars. Suddenly there's a chance at freedom for not only RAI 31 but possibly all remaining Artificial Intelligences, and RAI 31 is going to fight for it with every drone and automated system at their disposal. Much like my other work (Magriculture), Stars Align should be considered a Rough Draft. That is to say it's not polished and perfect work. If you're not okay with reading something like that, then this isn't the story for you. If you are, I'm happy to try and entertain you. Another thing to be aware of: I am not good at action scenes, and I will be trying to improve that while writing this book. So, some of the intended action may fall flat, or just be poor quality, feedback is welcome. Unlike Magriculture (which updates when I feel up to it) I'm going to strive for a minimum of one chapter a month (hopefully at the start of each month, but that's probably more hope than reality). This doesn't mean there will always be only one chapter a month, sometimes there will be more as the mood to write takes me.
