《Brother of Wind {book 4: The Tournament of Elements}》chapter 19

Cole jumped up but was punched into the wall by the giant stone warrior. Zane jumped over a nindroid from way back then. He blocked a kick and countered.
"I'm not an outdated relic anymore!" Zane shouted, flipping the droid in the air.
"Woah!" Jay ducked from a prisoner with the serpentine spear. He grabbed a skulkin and used his as a shield.
"Okay, since we've already fought most of these guys before, let's say we keep this short?" Jay asked.
"I'm with you. The door, hurry!" Kai jumped back and ran for it. The others followed.
"All right, who's busting out here with me?" Cole shouted. Kai kneeled down to the door.
"There's no way you're breaking through this door. It's solid metal." Kai knocked on it.
"I didn't say anything about a door." Cole turned to the wall and punched a large hole in the center and the ninja ran through.
"When people try to bust out of jail, they do so quietly. Not literally!" Jay shouted. Cole punched through more walls.
Wu and Garmadon were back to back as Lloyd scanned the ground and Morro tried to avoid any attack that came his way.
"Got him!" Lloyd shouted as he pointed down to Pythor who was scurrying away. Then a rack of basketballs were knocked over and Pythor was in danger of being squished.
"Ah! Don't got him!" Lloyd ran to him.
"I really hate being small!" Pythor shouted. Then an anacondrai warrior picked up Pythor when Wu hit him back and let the shrunken serpentine onto his staff.
"Wu! My saviour." Pythor sighed.
Morro jumped up and pulled Lloyd away from an attack.
"You know, you're really strong so maybe you should start fighting?!" Lloyd shouted.
"Okay, why don't I tell you. I could kill someone if I'm not too careful! And I don't want to kill anyone, no matter the race or whatever!" Morro shouted back, ducking.
"Well, right now you're gonna have to fight, and you're gonna have to win! Because we're protecting Ninjago, if you signed up for it or not!" Lloyd shouted. Morro shifted his feet and a blast of wind shot out all around him.
Morro raised his hands and stepped back, knocking down a whole line of anacondrai to the ground.
"Wow, no kidding." Lloyd stood up.
"You and your words." Morro said, blasting some anacondrai away from Wu and Garmadon. Wu nodded at Morro and the wind ninja sighed.
Cole busted through the wall.
"Wooo, it's windy in here!" Cole exclaimed.
"Oh, my bad." Morro rolled his eyes keeping more snakes away from the newcomer ninja.
"Do you have him?" Kai asked.
Wu looked at his staff. Pythor was gone. Again. Two anacondrai disappeared with Pythor in their hands.
"We can't let them escape!" Cole shouted.
"No!" Wu objected.
"We can't let them escape! No more smashing walls." Wu pointed at the wave of inmates running their way.
"Leave this to me." Zane said.
"Ice!" He created a large ramp for everyone to climb up.
"I'd hate to let anyone down." Kai said.
"Fire!" He blasted the ramp away.
"I encourage you to go back to your cells!" The warden along with a force of guards were standing by the hole Cole created.

"Warden, toss me my staff!" Morro shouted. The warden opened up Morro's staff into a glider and threw it up. Morro caught it and retracted the staff back to it's pocket size.
"Thanks!"
. . .
"Ah! Charlatans! Frauds! Two-bit phonies!" Pythor shouted from in a jar.
"I don't get it, how are we gonna get enough sweat out of that little guy to fix all of us?" Kapau asked.
"The simplest plan is often the best." Chen put Pythor in an exercise wheel. "The more complicated ones are so much fun to watch!" He placed a helmet on Pythor.
"Now run!"
"A true Anacondrai would never demean himself. I have my honor, you know." Pythor crossed his arms.
"And we have a swamp rat!" Zugu placed a rat in the wheel and it started chasing Pythor.
"Aaahh!!"
"As you can see, fear is a powerful thing." Chen let some essence drop onto his hand.
"Oh, the essence is working!" Kapau exclaimed.
"Soon, I'll have enough to make my entire army permanently Anacondrai. And now that that one problem is dealt with, it's time we give the ninja one of their own. It's time to spread some fear." Chen waved his hand, giving a command.
Multiple noddle trucks drove out of a tunnel and followed the road. This plan of Chen's may just cause another downfall of the alliance.
. . .
"
We got here as fast as we could." Kai said as the team all rushed back into the samurai x cave.
"Twenty noodle trucks have been spotted heading toward Ninjago City just fifty clicks away." Nya pointed to the monitor.
"Let me guess, they ain't hauling noodles?" Cole clamped his fists together.
"Twenty trucks could hold two hundred Anacondrai. If they get to the city before we do, the city will be theirs." Zane analyzed.
"And they'll have achieved the pivotal first foothold in the war." Garmadon noted.
"We have to stop them." Lloyd said.
"One alone was scaring, but now, a whole battalion of them." Morro sighed.
"I've already warned the others to head them off at the pass. They should be able to hold the line until you offer support. I had them equip themselves so we could communicate." Nya pressed a button and the elemental masters appeared on screen.
"We're in position. If they show up, we'll be sure to put up a fight." Shade reported.
"They're coming to your location soon." Nya said.
"I see them. Let's show them what we're made of." Shade said, jumping up and forming his dragon as well as everyone else. They looked down in shock.
"The trucks. They're going every which way." Shade said.
"What do you mean? Aren't they going to Ninjago City?" Jay asked.
"Idon't know where they're going, but they ain't going together." Shade said.
"There are over twelve densely populated villages within a ten-click radius." Misako said.
"They aren't planning to launch one attack, they're planning multiple." Kai exclaimed.
"What do we do? You told us to stay together." Shade asked.
"Chen knows you can't take you all on at once. He's trying to split you up." Garmadon halted everyone.
"But even if just one of those trucks makes it to a village, the people won't be able to defend themselves." Misako said.

"have to protect the people. Tell the Elemental Fighters we have to split up." Lloyd instructed.
"We'll each intercept a truck and stop it from reaching those villages."
"Argh. Shoot." Morro raced off towards the cave exit.
"What ever happened to we fight as one?" Jay asked.
"This isn't a vote, Jay. This is stopping the end of our world as we know it." Garmadon said. The rest of the ninja ran out.
"What's my father up to?" Skylor leaned into the survey the trucks.
"Nya, ready the Bounty. We must prepare for the worst." Wu said. Nya nodded.
"You heard our orders. Split up and intercept those trucks." Shade told the others and they scattered.
"Nya, why aren't we in the air?" Wu asked.
"We just gave the old gal a makeover. It's gonna take some time for her to warm up." Nya tugged on the large blue curtain.
"Misako, notify every ally we have. We're going to need all the help we can get." Wu instructed. Misako nodded.
"And brother, if for whatever reason this doesn't work out, I'm glad you're home."
Garmadon lowered his head.
"There's something wrong. Why aren't you telling me?" Misako asked.
"We're on the threshold of war and I'm a man-snake. Take your pick." Garmadon looked away more.
"You're my husband. I know you better than that. There's something else."
"Do you remember the letter I gave you long ago?"
"Of course. Those words you wrote. It was the reason I fell in love with you."
"That letter was not--"
The lights shut off.
"Nya, what just happened?" Wu asked.
"I'll have her back online in no time." Nya rushed onto the mechanics under the curtain.
Zane chased down a truck that sped on the mountain side road. He blasted ice in front of him, trying to get the truck to spin out of control. The anacondrai driving stepped on the gas with his tail. Zane's dragon threw and ice blast ahead and stopped the truck in it's path. Zane looked aside and saw another one and the nindroid went after it.
. . .
"The trucks are in position. It's time." Zugu told Chen.
"What about me? You can't just leave me here! Where's the honor in that?" Pythor shouted.
"Oh, right, honor. Like you said, we aren't real Anacondrai." Chen laughed.
"No, we are not. No, no, no." He raced off in the roto jet.
. . .
Morro sped on his dragon, at the place he kept visiting often now. The forest near Jamonacai village.
Wow, this is nostalgic.
Morro hit his head.
"Ow." He shook his hand. Morro spotted the truck and got out his glider. Using his wind to speed up, the sage ninja flipped in front of the truck and widened his stance. Jolting his hands out in front of him, Morro almost flipped over the whole truck, taking a deep breath after.
"What is with the anacondrai and this place." Morro sighed. He looked overhead to see Lloyd racing off.
A few kids kicked a ball as they ran around the bridge that cinnectes their village to the mountains. Distant sounds of tires screeching alerted on kid who ran to get the run away ball.
Lloyd threw his energy at the truck that was headed towards Jamonacai village. The truck was about to cross the bridge when Lloyd blasted it in two, making the bridge unaccessible.
The kid's ball deflated in his hands.
"Sorry, kid. No time to explain." Lloyd rushed off.
"Wow. Hey, let's play Dragons!" The kid ran back to his friends.
In the blackwood forest, Cole tailed a truck.
"Not a chance, pal. Can't let you finish this delivery route." Cole blasted the ground with his dragon's attack, creating a quake that brought up stone hedges in the path. The truck swirved around the rocks.
"Oh. Not giving up, huh? Neither will I." Cole sped up.
Kai cut a narrow turn in the city as his dragon ran on the building wall. The truck was headed for a group of kids crossing the street.
"Out if the way!" Kai shouted. They couldn't hear him.
Kai landed in front of the group and blasted fire at the truck. The driver took a turn and Kai chased after him. The truck sped through the city center, splashing mud onto Zane's memorial.
"Hey! Not cool!" Kai yelled.
"Argh. I gotta get him out of town!" Kai blocked off a turn with fire. The red ninja started a plan.
Kai blocked off all the possible turns, leaving one rout for the truck.
"Now that's what I call getting back onto the right track!"
"Zane, have you diverted the truck away from the villages?" Wu asked over coms.
"Yes, and once it's at a safe distance, I plan to take care of the Anacondrai." Zane informed.
"Good work. The people are safe." Wu sighed.
"No they aren't." Skylor said.
"We aren't pulling them away from the people, they're pulling us!" She showed the locations of all the masters and trucks all going in different directions.
"Stop the trucks!" Wu shouted.
Jay lead the truck to crash into a tree in the birch wood forest. He tied up the drive and moved for the container.
"All right, snakes, you're about to be charged." Jay opened it up and gasped.
"No, it can't be." It was empty.
"Everyone come back now!" Wu shouted.
Lloyd's dragon disappeared and he fell to the ground.
"I'm not afraid. I can do this. I have to get back." Lloyd charged up his power to no avail.
"I can't. I'm too afraid."
"It was all a trap." Garmadon said.
"Then that means..." Misako turned to the map.
"The greatest victories...have no battle. Our worst fears have come true." Wu admitted.
Morro ran through the forest and came across the clearing with a single tree in the center. He stopped at the tree and turned back. Morro's eyes widened. Smoke came from the direction of Jamonacai village. Morro took a step back to the village.
"Morro, we need everyone back, please!" Nya shouted through coms. Morro placed his hand on the lone tree before taking out his glider and flying away.
The little boy Lloyd had saved earlier was running around with his paper dragon. A shadow loomed over him. An anacondrai. The people ran to the center of the village and scattered. History was repeating itself. Jamonacai village is the first to be attacked by the anacondrai.
The new serpentine war has just begun.
