《Brother of Wind {book 4: The Tournament of Elements}》chapter 8

"Skylor, Master of Amber, versus Jacob, Master of Sound. Fight! Fight!" Chen yelled. This match was in a room full of large vases and tatami mats on the floor, surrounded by shoji doors.
"Eenie, meenie, minie, moe..." Skylor counted the vases.
"Catch a Jadeblade by its toe!" She threw a pear and broke the vase, hoping the jadeblade would be in there. Not a jadeblade, but a bow and arrow. Jacob strummed his guitar. The master was blind and relied on sound waves to help him, like echolocation.
Skylor ran behind a different vase. She waited then fired! And arrow shot straight. Jacob ducked and a another arrow fired. The sound master used his small size to run and dodge, landing on one of the arrows that landed in the wood of the room and strummed.
His sound waves were piercing, a high enough frequency to break a vase as Skylor ran away, covering her ears.
"Master of Sound's gotten stronger since the last time I saw him." Garmadon observed from above. Skylor stepped carefully behind Jacob and tapped his shoulder. She quickly his behind the vase again.
Jacob grabbed some shurikens from a broken vase. Skylor stood still, waiting then Jacob threw. She preformed and aerial, dodging all the shurikens, with the last one breaking yet another vase.
"Excuse me. Excuse me. Uh, don't mean to block your view. Just passing through. Sorry, all of these temples look the same." Kai said trying to make his way to the other ninja. He stepped on everyone's feet on the way.
"Did I miss anything?" Kai asked.
"Ugh. By the looks of it, you didn't miss much." Jay gestured to all the other masters, unhappy with Kai.
"Maybe we shouldn't be sitting together." Jay suggested.
"I mean, the more they think we're a team, the bigger targets we put on ourselves." Jay said.
"Don't say that, we are a team." Lloyd reassured.
"Sure we just lost Cole and still can't find Zane, but we're a team. Just smaller. All the more reason to stick together." He said.
"Right Morro?" Lloyd asked.
Morro played attention to the fight, not his team at the moment. He kept his eyes fixed on Skylor. Kai looked down at the fight.
"Skylor's fighting?" Kai jumped up.
The amber master threw a ball of fire at Jacob and burned his instrument.
"What has him so excited?" Garmadon asked.
"He had a crush on her until he found out they might be related." Jay giggled.
"Her element isn't Fire. She's the Master of Amber, power of absorption. She can emulate the power of anyone she's touched." Garmadon explained.
"You're telling me we're not related?" Kai perked up.
"Oh, boy. Here we go again." Jay sighed.
Skylor used her opponents power against him and broke another vase, a blowdart inside. Jacob took the darts and fired. One hit the paper wall right by Skylor's foot. She had an idea.
Skylor made Lot's of noises as she cartwheeled past the paper wall. The darts made holes, allowing a different stream of air to flow in. Confusing Jacob, Skylor kicked the last vase and grabbed the jadeblade that flew out.
Everyone cheered.
"Yes! Go Skylor!" Kai yelled.
"Winner! And loser." Another trapdoor opened up and Jacob fell through.
"I hope the Tournament of Elements has entertained you as much as it has me. To thank you, I wanted to give everyone fancy jewels and untold shiny things." Chen held up a plate of valuables.

"But then in yesterday's battle, Master Jay and Cole tried to undermine me by teaming up and refusing to fight each other. And that made me very upset. For their insubordination, all of your fancy quarters will be taken away, and tonight everyone must sleep together in the chow house." Chen threw away the jewels. The fighters look displease with Jay.
"That is all. Thank you, you can go." Chen said. The room started to clear out.
"Nice one, Jay." Kai said. Morro slapped Kai on the head.
"Whoa, easy, Romeo." Jay shot back at Kai.
"Don't worry about them. We aren't here to make friends, just to save ours." Lloyd said a little coldly.
"Yes, but your exclusion of others has only made enemies. Beware how you treat those around you, for they will treat you the same." Garmadon said.
. . .
"You can take my clothes and my power, but you'll never take my super strength!" Cole yelled. He was in a cell, wearing and orange jumpsuit. Cole pulled on the bars that blocked the little window. To no avail, Cole fell down on his back.
"All right, so you go that too."
The door to Cole's cell opened and Clouse came in.
"You're letting me go?" Cole asked, standing up.
"Of course, not. Your presence is required in the factory." Clouse said.
"The factory!? Lock me up for all I care. I'm never gonna lift a finger for you, you despicable-- Aah!" Cole got dragged out of his cell and thrown into the factory. To Cole's delight, it was...
"A noodle factory? Ha! Why didn't you say so? Hahaha!" Cole jumped up.
"This is my kind of place. Look, that's how they make the noodles. Oh, and that's the dumpling machine." Cole ran around.
"And is that how you make fortune cookies? Haha!" Cole grabbed one and broke it open. He turned to the nearest worker.
"You know there's a fortune in those, right?" He said excitedly.
"There's only one rule: no eating the merchandise." Clouse closed the door.
Cole was starstruck.
"No eating the merchandise? How cruel can this place be!? You're evil!" Cole yelled. He tried to eat that one fortune cookie but it was grabbed by one of the guards.
Cole sadly took his place, situated beside Karlof.
"Don't worry. After while, not so bad. Since you new, I show you how to chop noodles." Karlof said, pulling on a lever. Cole looked to his side. He pulled the lever and a bag of flour fell on him.
"Not that one." Karlof said.
Cole pulled the right one and a blade chopped down on the noodles that ran along the conveyer belt.
"See? Chop. Now don't make trouble." Karlof said.
"Well, I for one don't like following rules. The minute you tell me the coast is clear, I'm busting out of here." Jacob said, newly placed in the factory.
"Even if you get past the guards, Mr. Blind Guy, there's still the labyrinth guarded by big snake." Karlof pointed out.
"My name's not Mr. Blind Guy. It's Jacob. And you may have already lost hope, but not me and not my buddy Cole here. Am I right?" Jacob looked to his right.
"Actually, I'm on your left." Cole slightly waved.
"Oh, heh. Hey, you moved on me. Heh. Sneaky ninja." Jacob laughed.
. . .
Nya parked in a dark alleyway outside of Chen's noodle house.

"And you say the noodle trucks disappear at night? But where do they go?" Wu unformed as a hologram.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out. Perhaps if I follow them, they can lead me to more answers. I'll report more when I uncover more." Nya ended the call.
"Initiate replicate software." She pressed a button and the portable base was camouflaged to look exactly like a noodle truck.
"You're not the only one who can disappear." She drove off behind them.
"What do you mean you discontinued the puffy potstickers? They were my favorite. Do you even know who you're dealing with?" Dareth, (remember him?) Complained.
"Yes, Master Dareth. If you have a problem, take it up with them." The man working at the restaurant pointed to the noodle trucks driving away.
"Wait! Come back! I need my puffy potsticker!" Dareth ran after the trucks.
. . .
Night came and everyone, as said before, was sleeping in the dining pavilion. Lloyd looked to his side to see Jay restless on the table. The two go up.
"Couldn't sleep either?" Jay asked.
"Not when we still have to get Zane and Cole back." Kai jumped down and said.
"Speaking of backs, these new beds are the worst." Lloyd said.
"Uh, Morro?" Jay asked.
"Have you even tried to get sleep?"
Morro sat on the floor, by the wall, looking tired as heck, but wide awake.
"No. Things keep me awake." Morro said.
"Alright." Lloyd started.
"Let's do--"
A gong sounded off as the lights turned on.
"Quick, back in bed." Kai said, jumping back to his covers. Chatter filled the room as loud noises ran in.
"Good morning, fighters. Oh, that's right, it's the middle of the night." Clouse said sleekly.
The warriors came in and tied rollerblades to the fighters' feet.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"Do you know what time it is?" Jay said.
"Roller skates?" Kai questioned. Morro refused to let someone put them on for him. He grabrd them and voluntarily put the skates on.
Kai wobbled his way of to Skylor as hr fell back.
"Woah!!" He cried. Skylor helped Kai up.
"Thanks." Kai said.
"Let me guess, another one of Chen's impromptu battles?" Lloyd
"Oh, roller skates. I love roller skates!" Jay jumped up, gliding across the floor.
"We should be getting used to this by now." Lloyd sighed.
"Did I ever mention I once placed first in the Mother-Son Skate-Off? Hehe. I should have never admitted that." Jay said.
"You're one strange person." Morro said.
"Master Chen wants everyone in the Royal Arena. I wouldn't be late if I were you." Clouse said.
"If most of us have already fought, why are we all in skates?" Skylor asked.
"Only two of you will be fighting, but the rest of you will have a chance to affect the outcome." Clouse explained.
"Who's fighting? Tell us now." Griffin exclaimed.
"The Green Ninja versus the Master of Form." Clouse said as he walked off.
"Master of Form? Who's that?" Lloyd asked Kai.
"You haven't heard? I hear she can look like anyone. She'd be right under your nose, and by the time you figure it out, she's discovered all your weaknesses, then it's game over." He twirled around Lloyd.
"But you're the Green Ninja, what weakness could you have?"
"Ugh. Aside from the sore back, not many." Lloyd said.
That's not Kai.
"So we really should keep an eye out for you opponent." Morro said, pulling Lloyd away.
"You really should." 'Kai' said.
Lloyd turned to his right as Jay jumped by.
"Kai?!" Lloyd jumped. The red ninja stumbled by.
"Skates... Why did it have to be skates?" He fell again.
"Watch your back, Green Ninja." Chamille the master of form revealed her true self and skated away as Lloyd left his mouth hanging open.
"How did you...?" Lloyd turned to his brother.
"Stay on your guard." Morro turning to leave.
. . .
Jacob heard the door close and assume the guard left. Down in the factory, Cole turned away from his work and saw Jacob sneaking away. Listening again, for the staff of the warrior guarding the work. As it got faint, the master of sound rolled his way to make cover.
Cole started to follow when Karlof halted him.
"Eh, make noodles, not trouble." He said.
Jacob made his way to the door and opened it. What he didn't know what that Clouse was coming. Cole was about to scream when Karlof covered the earth master's mouth.
"Hey! Not one of you could've warned me?" Jacob exclaimed, being restrained by Clouse. More muffled screams came out of Cole.
"Make an example of him. Take him to feed my serpent." Clouse said as a guard dragged Jacob away.
"Feed his Serpent?" Cole repeated.
"He doesn't mean--"
"Karlof not make trouble. Karlof make noodle." Karlof said, pulling a lever that made flour dumb on Cole and cover him in a white powder.
"I'm so not into this dumpling dump after all." Cole sighed.
"I don't like the look of this." Lloyd said as everyone skated to the arena.
"Don't worry, we got your back. Aah!" Kai was about to fall when Morro pulled his gi to keep him up.
"That if Kai can stay standing for more than five seconds." Morro said.
The fighters came into the arena, a literal skating arena.
"Welcome to my favorite event. Thunderblade!" Chen exclaimed, moving along the wall.
"Hey, I know this game." Griffin said.
"It's just like--"
"No, it's not like that! This is my game. I made it up! Fully original!" Chen shot out.
"A Jadeblade for you, Lloyd, Master of Power." Chen tossed a blade and helmet to Lloyd. Safety first, kids.
"And another for Chamille, Master of Form. Where-- Where are you?" Chen looked around. The girl revealed herself.
"Oh there you are." Chen said.
Chamille caught the blade and helmet.
"Haha. Rules are simple. Each lap you complete with your Blade in possession, a point. Most points before time expires, you win." Chen explained.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. What about us? Are we supposed to just stand here?" Griffin asked.
"You get to help anyone you wish, or hurt for that matter. You're free to choose sides. I'm not a dictator." Chen skated off to his chair.
Everyone took Chamille's side as the ninja stayed by Lloyd.
"What was that you sad about us having targets on our backs?" Lloyd rolled up to Jay.
"Don't worry, we're still a team!" Kai fell again.
"Heh. I gotta be honest, this doesn't look good." Jay said.

8 270My Isekai
For those not familiar with the isekai genera, this story is about a man waking up in an unknown world. The story follows his journey and life in this world, which does not only look different on the surface, but the common norms and values of this world are very alien to the modern western mindset. How will this average western person respond to such a world, and how will it change him. For those familiar with isekai, this is a western take on a predominantly Japanese story format. It draws a lot of inspiration from Japanese isekai, but it also tries to tackle a lot of tropes that might be annoying to the western mindset. The story is not written for young boys as the story tries to take a mature take on some typical clichés and assumptions made by both the typical writer and reader of the genera.
