《Dark Lord》Chapter 38

Mo Xin gasped, staring at her mother and father's eyes.
"Mother, Father, you can't be thinking of actually joining them right?" Mo Xin asked, unwilling to believe what had just happened.
MeiRin and JianTang looked at each other, their eyes automatically understanding what the other wanted to say.
"Xin, forgive us," MeiRin looked at her oldest daughter, the one who doted most on her brother, giving him the best anybody else could ask for.
Mo Xin clenched her fist, gritting her teeth. These two were her parents, they were her brother's parents. How could they just agree to kill their own flesh and blood upon discovering his real identity? It couldn't even be considered real identity, because Mo Xin knew fully well that the brother she knew was also real. It was merely because he had regained the memories from his last life that it interfered with the person she knew. But even when he had changed after waking up, Mo Xin knew deep inside that something was different.
But that person was still her brother. The one person who she had always connected best with, the one who she understood well. She hoped that her mother and father knew that she wouldn't stand still while they colluded with other people to kill her brother. Her brother, whether it is Jin or the Dark Lord, she was willing to sacrifice her life for. Truthfully, she didn't know why she had such a burning feeling in her heart telling her that she must protect Jin at all cost, but she was believing in her choice.
"But he is your son," Mo Xin spoke, her tone filled with questioning and disappointment. She wanted to know why they were willing to go with whatever that idiotic Prince was saying.
"Xin, you weren't even born yet when the Dark Lord was alive. You don't know how much people he killed, how dangerous he truly is. It doesn't matter if he is our son, he is a dangerous figure. The Fuyin Nation had asked for us to join this battle, and we will." JianTang explained, knowing that his daughter was upset.

They were trying to justify their decision. But why were they trying to make it seem like they knew the real reason the Dark Lord existed when they didn't? They didn't know why the Dark Lord became who he was, they didn't know how much suffering he had gone through. Even though Mo Xin didn't know anything, she knew that there was always a reason behind someone's decisions, the actions that they choose to take, and those that had pushed them to their limits.
Mo Wan was standing at the corner as she listened in on the conversation between her parents and her older sister. Her older sister had always been the more protective one, willing to risk her life for her family and friends. When Jin was hurt, Mo Xin would've attacked the whole nation right away if it weren't for the fact that Jin was close to dying. As Mo Wan thought about this, she couldn't help but sigh. Her brother was gone, he was dead. Instead, what remained was a killing machine, a man who should've been dead.
Mo Wan hadn't realized how Jin had changed by such a drastic degree until she met Wang Long, her love. Maybe that was what changed her, and showed her that things were always different to what it seem. Back then, when she hadn't met Wang Long, she thought that Jin had changed for the better, but now, that wasn't the case. Even if they were blood related, Mo Wan would not support a killer like the Dark Lord.
Mo Xin looked at her family, knowing well that none of these people were willing to protect Jin, her only brother, the only one who she related with. But if that was the case, even if she had to die, she was willing to defend him with her life. But she needed to find him, she needed to warn him that people were going to war against him just like before. Just like before, when he had died.

"Well then, I guess we are too different. You people, should be filled with shame. No matter what, Dark Lord or not, you gave birth to him. You raised him as your son, you loved him more than anything. I guess all it takes is an identity for people to change their feelings. And I....I regret that fact that I once was willing to protect you people with my life."
"You will be doing everything to get rid of him, but even if he is the Dark Lord, he is my brother, and I will stop at no end to defend him. Even if it means becoming his shield, I will never let him be hurt again. Just like those words you once said, I will be the one to fulfill it, not you. This is goodbye, after today, we will become enemies. Thank you for all that you have done for me, but I will not hesitate to kill any of you if we ever meet once again."
Just as Mo Xin was about to walk out, Mo Wan screamed towards her.
"Sister, you are willing to protect someone who should be dead for his crimes!" Mo Wan knew that her sister was not going to changer her mind, even as she said this sentence.
"All I know is that he is someone I love with all my life, someone who has been cursed by the heavens to walk a lonely path in this world. It seems that meeting Wang Long has really mess with your head, my dear naive sister. I hope you know, sometimes, betrayal can happen within your eyes, and even then you may never notice." Mo Xin walked out, her back straight and her eyes hardened. From this day on, she vowed to protect Jin with her life.
He was hurt too many times to be able to regain himself back. But Mo Xin was willing to go through the pain in hopes that she would be able to fix him, even if it's just a little. She had made a promise once, and even though she didn't remember when it was, somehow, the words felt powerful. It felt like she had lost something, and that she had had to sacrifice something to keep that something safe.
"I will protect you in every way I possibly can."
So even if the world turns their back on Mo Xin, she was willing to have them come for her and not Jin. Jin, he was a broken person who everyone had neglected. He was her most loving family, he was her only family now.
