《Fairy Tail Origins One Shots》Petsitting

I came up with this idea randomly and had to write it.

Viper's job was to clean the Protecter's guild. Nothing more. Just go to the Protector's guild and clean whatever floor, wall or fucking roof Lo'Pho told him to.
So why was he stuck here babysitting this little fuzzy creature of Jakey's, well the boy was off on a date with his fiancé. Apparently the time wizard couldn't get Kay, or Lo'Pho, or literally anyone else except Viper to look after his pet so here they were.
Viper sighed at the animal before him. What was his name again? Like Oscar or Owen or Oliver- yes that's what it was. Oliver.
"What even are you? You look like a raccoon ate a carnival." Viper said to Oliver. The animal didn't respond. The man sat down so he was closer to eye level with the pet. "Hmmm. Do you even make any noise?"
"Poyo!" Oliver exclaimed.
"Oh so you do make noise. Can you say fuck?" Oliver made a distressed noise at Viper's language. "Eh, it was worth a try. Anyway I have a few more chores to do. If you wanna help you'd make a good mop, other then that stay out of my way while I work."
With that the poison dragon slayer picked up a bucket and went to the river, filling it up with water. Much to his annoyance, the little fluff ball followed him the entire time.
Viper gave Oliver an annoyed glance as he walked back into the building. He put soap into his bucket and grabbed a sponge, dipping it into the water and began to scrub.
A few minutes passed and Viper got into the cleaning mode, totally forgetting about the carnival raccoon that was beside him.
When he finished the floors, it practically sparkling. He looked down and saw his reflection. "I swear if Lo'Pho finds some way to complain about these floors I'm gonna be so pissed." Viper grumbled.
He grabbed the bucket, bringing it outside and dumped the water out of it. He then wrung the sponge out and started to make his way to the door, preparing himself to do the next chore. As soon as Viper opened the door though, he stopped.

The floor that were once sparkling clean a second ago was covered in small muddy footprints. And it wasn't even a couple footprints either, whatever animal tracked themselves inside the guild seemed to purposely getting the floor as dirty as possible.
In the middle of the room was the culprit. Oliver stood there, with his fur all muddy and his big black eyes were staring at him with an innocent look.
"Y-you little-" Viper didn't even finish his sentence. He just started dashing towards the yellow and blue animal.
Oliver let out an alarmed squeak as he saw the blue haired man start rush in his direction. He quickly turned around and tried to run away from the man but he was unsuccessful and felt two hands wrap themselves around his body and lift him off the ground.
"Ha! Got'cha you stupid rat! Not really a fast runner, may want to lay off the cookies or you'll end up fat like Lo'Pho." Viper growled. Oliver let out an angry noise at the use of the F word that Jakey didn't like to hear.
"Now!" Viper turned Oliver so the creature was looking at him. "I'm not cleaning this up by myself! So either you grab that sponge with your little rat mouth and help clean these floors or I'll use you like a mop like I said earlier!"
The pet quickly nodded his little head. "Poyo!"
Viper let out a huff. "But first, I'm gonna need to clean you off, all you're gonna do is track more mud if I don't."
The man walked outside and made his way back to the river. He placed Oliver onto the grass next to the river and filled his bucket full of water. Oliver yelped as he realized what was going to happen.
"Huh? What did you expect? A warm bubble bath?" After Viper said that, he dumped the freezing cold river water onto Jakey's pet.
He immediately began to shake after the water soaked him. The poison dragon slayer got out some soap and scrubbed the small animal's pelt. Several times Oliver attempted escape, but each time Viper just grabbed his scruff and held him back.
Finally it was over. Oliver's pelt was squeaky clean, but he was still cold and wet. He shook to get as much off as possible, but he was still pretty soaked.

"Hmmmm towels towels." Viper mumbled to himself. "I um- don't think we have any towels..."
Oliver let out a grumble as he shivered, just wanting to be dry.
"Um...maybe this will work." Viper brought the animal closer to his and grabbed his purple overcoat he was wearing, and began to dry Oliver off with that. "You better be thankful for this because my coat is gonna be wet now."
When Viper was finished he let go of his clothing and stood up. Oliver has a small smile of his face and the dragon slayer felt one start to come on his face as well. He quickly forced it down though.
"Now cmon. Time to work."
Oliver's smile fell and he let out an annoyed huff.
"Oh shut up. It's about time you work. I know Jakey spoils you because y-y-you're just s-so c-c-cute O-Oliver!" Viper did his best Jakey impression, including the higher pitched voice and the stutter. Oliver wasn't impressed though and he rolled his eyes at the man.
"Oh whatever. Come on, let's clean." The blue haired man started walking back into the guild with Oliver following suit. When they walked in, Viper ripped his sponge in half and gave one half to the pet. "You get the left side and I'll get the right."
The two got to work. They scrubbed every surface that was covered in mud. Viper was actually quite impressed with Oliver, considering he was a tiny animal using his mouth to scrub floors. But he got a lot done. About an hour passed and they were finished, the floors once again sparkling.
"We did a good job Oliver." Viper commented. Oliver smiled, happy with the validation and the fact that he was done cleaning for the da-
"Okay now we have to dust." Oliver whined at those words. "Hey you're making me up for making a mess. We also have to clean the windows, mow the grass, and then vacuum the roof. Let get to it."
The two were once again back to work. Once they got into the mode though, time passed quickly. In no time everything was dust free, the windows were clean, the grass was mowed and the roof was vacuumed.
By the time they were done it was night time. They walked back into the guild hall and Viper flopped down onto a chair, tired as ever. Oliver was the same as well and jumped onto the chair and into Viper's lap. In any other occasion, the dragon slayer would've protested this action but at the moment he didn't care.
Both of their eyes began to close and before they knew it the two of them were fast asleep on the chair.

Bryan's arm was around his fiancé's shoulder as they walked back to the guild after their date to pick up Oliver.
"I h-hope Oliver is okay." Jakey said.
"Me too. Hopefully Viper didn't murder him." Bryan replied. Jakey's brown eyes immediately widened at those words. "I'm just joking babe, he's going to be alright."
"O-o-okay."
They arrived at the guild's door and Bryan took his arm off Jakey's shoulder to open the door. He was expecting a lot of things when it came a situation like Viper babysitting Oliver. The last thing on the list though was Viper asleep on a chair with Oliver on his lap.
"Aw! T-they got a-a-along!" The time wizard commented at the sight.
Bryan smirked, knowing full well he was going to make fun of Viper for this later. "So I guess just quietly grab Oliver from his lap and you can head home?"
"N-no it's okay. I'll let them sleep. I can get Oliver to-tomorrow."
"Okay." He went up to his fiancé and gave him a kiss on the lips. "Goodnight then babe. I'll see you tomorrow."
Jakey blushed. "Goodnight! I love you!"
"I love you too."
Bryan exited the guild and Jakey turned back, sneaking one more glance at Viper and Oliver fast asleep on the chair.

The Fate Eater
What might a man really do if he found himself reincarnated into a fantasy world as a dragon prince? How would he come to terms with his new nature, his larger-than-life family, the agendas of warring factions, and the destiny he never asked for? This is a story that intends to defy some isekai tropes, but play into others. It's mainly about exploring a rich hand-crafted world, full of its own history and mysteries. Its characters have their own lives and aspirations, and our protagonist is but a piece of the greater tapestry. This story is not about right and wrong, or good and evil. It's about a dragon-man being tested by fate, power, and time. It's about what it's like to live as an outsider who lost their home. But perhaps the most central theme is freedom. What does freedom really mean? What will it cost and how much might one be willing to pay for it? Does it even truly exist? Let's find out together.

Mortis Operandi 1- New Hire
Thank you for reading, I have to start with that. The feedback and encouragement from RoyalRoad users helped me finish my book. I left the unedited version up as I worked on editing and making it a little more polished. However the time has come for me to put it on Amazon and hopefully let other people read the story. If you have Kindle unlimited you should be able to read the story there. If you just want to order an ebook version you can do that as well. I should have a paperback version coming up. https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07T46B4NM Again thank you for reading and helping me on this journey. It hasn't ended however, my second book which I'm hoping to do well enough that reading the first isn't completely necessary, is still being worked on here, https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/24562/mortis-operandi-2--terms-and-conditions . Any feedback, comments, even critism is welcome as I work on giving you the best version of my story. I'll leave the first two chapters up here, unless Amazon says otherwise. There should be enough differences to avoid issues though. THANK YOU! Thank you! thank you! __________________________________ Adventurers enter dungeons every day.
