"The grounds wet", Hope stood up complaining. "You just fall through everything you touch, don't you".
I tried to get up skiddng on the wet, slippery ground. I didn't hear her and didn't answer.
"Jordan, you don't have a head injury do you?", I heard the swish of water as she walked towards me. "You usually would say something smart".
I finally realized she was there. We were there. "Huh", I looked back at her. Her clothes were about as dirty and damp as mine. "I'm fine".
She looked up wringing her hair out. "I can't even see a piece of light up there, it's crazy". She glanced back at me. "How did we get here".
I shrugged. "For once kid, I don't know".
"Wow comforting". I ignored her sarcasm.
I looked up. This must have been another mystery of Mianite. Sure it was true that I had fallen and survived from colossal heights, but this was ridiculous. I couldn't even see the light from ever we fell from, or a hole.
"I think we're in the old Mianite sewers, like connected to the well that you lived in for those two whole nights". Hope started explaining. I still couldn't understand how she knows all these things.
"You think the water might have washed us down", I asked.
I could barley see her shrug in the dark. "I think that is a possibility. Which way is the water coming down from".
I looked down. The water was coming towards us, almost knocking me off my feet. "That way".
"Which way".
"Right!", I yelled getting annoyed.
"Ok, ok. Sorry". It sounded like she was almost sick of me as well.
I'm still trying to teach Jordan to stop thinking that the world cares what he thinks. Sure I'm very proud of him for killing the fear demon, but he didn't want to kill it and he almost didn't.
"Stop it", he grouched at me.
"I didn't do anything!"
We had both been on each others nerves since a little bit before I got sick. I'm really surprised he even came to save me, how much I've been bothering him.
"Knock it off", he snapped back.
"What are you talking about!"
"Stop splashing me", he turned his head glaring at me. Though I could barely see him in the dark.
I shrugged. "I didn't splash you".
"Hope if it wasn't you", he paused, "quite frankly I'm scared to ask who did then".
"Maybe you". I was thinking positively for once in my life.

He snorted. "How would that work".
"You know, like you could kick up the water with your feet, or maybe we are getting close to a waterfall". I tried to lighten up the mood.
"A waterfall"
"Yea".
"Hope that is-". He stopped talking. "What is that?".
"What is what?".
"That", he pointed to something sparkling on the far side of the sewer. It was all types of pretty pinks and purples. "That is the sugar".
"Yay", I yelled in accomplishment. "Mission complete".
He started walking closer to it.
"You know we still have to get out of here the more I think about it", I finished off my rant. "I'm really cold".
He wasn't listening to me, still edging to the sugar, like it was calling to him.
"Jorda-".
I heard him swear for the first time ever and I heard a splash.
I ran over to him. "Jordan did you fall".
"There's a area of deep water between the sugar and us". He got up. "It's moving".
"I didn't hear it".
"Niether did I", he was breathing heavily. Probably scared to death.
I squinted my eyes seeing that the gap wasn't to big. "I could jump that".
"No kid-"
"I can", I raised my voice. "Please Jordan".
He was frowning at me with his arms crossed. It wasn't like I was going to listen to him anyway.
"I can get your sparkles, Sparkles'. Please".
He wasn't impressed with the joke. He looked down squinting at the darkness. "Fine"
"Yes".I jumped up and down. It's been awhile since I did something exciting. "Get ready for amazement".
I went back to the front wall for a running start, it was the only way I was going to make it.
I ran to the edge of the roaring water. Landing the jump on my side. The ground on this end was dryer. I opened my eyes. The sugar right in front of my perspective. It really was stunning. Like a fancy piece of jewelry.
I put the silver chain around my neck and spinning around, hoping to annoy Jordan.
"What are you doing", he asked bitterly.
I spun on my heels. "I feel like I princess".
"HOPE"
"I can jump better with it like this, alright". I went to the other end of the wall. I needed a huge running start.
I started running. The sugar immediately feeling heavy. I wasn't going to make this jump. I stopped on my heels on the ledge of the water way. Just to late.

"Hope"
I tripped into the awful smelling water, the sugar getting ripped off my neck.
The world felt really redundant.
Here I was running along a water way. I tried to grab Hope, but all I got was the stupid tube of glitter.
"HOPE". I yelled trying to get a answer. I think she's a good swimmer.
Come on, come on. "HOPE". I didn't get an answer. "Dammit".
I started running through deeper water. Almost up to my knees. "HOPE".
"Jordan", I heard a faint, small voice from down the way.
I looked down at the overflow section, ironically which was a waterfall flowing into the sea soner or later. She was holding I pipe for her dear life. I sighed realeved. I grabbed her hand. My sword falling out of its holster. The end of nearly touched the end of my fingers.
Hope got it. Her hand couldn't even go the whole way around the end.
"Hope give me the sword".
Her face went from horrified to hurt. The metal pipe started sliding off its perch. I got a hold of her hand before the pipe even fell.
"Hope hand me the sword so I can save you".
She didn't answer, she was staring at the sword.
"Hope-".
"It's me or the sword"
"WHAT!"
"Me or the sword", she said it surprisingly calmly.
"Hope just hand me the sword and I can grab you with two hands".
She handed me the sword.
"Thank you-"
"Me or the sword".
She was serious. "Hope what the".
"Please", she started looking down at the water.
"What I-". I can't just let her die. I won't. I dropped the sword. I watched as it landed in the water. All that hard work. "Get up kid".
I pulled her up with my other arm. I was thinking of multiple ways to scream at her when I realized she was crying. "Hope".
"I'm sorry you made you drop it". I could barely understand her. "I'm so sorry".
I started thinking about her past and how long I had known her. I had never seen her cry this hard. I have heard her of course, but never seen her.
She sniffed. "I really am sorry".
"You feel warmer kid".
Hope nodded her head yes.
"Hopers, Hopers", the priest was running over to me and Hope.
"Yes", she answered wearily.
"You realize that doctor that was testing on you". He kneeled down by her.
She nodded her head. "Yes".
"Black magics user", he had a huge smile on his face. "Illigal black magics".
He stood up now looking at me. "Since the Dianites were in cohoots with them, Mianite and Ianite win the war". He looked back down at Hope. "And the modsteps are no longer in custody if you".
She was smiling to much to answer.
"She heard that right". The priest seemed serious.
"I heard it", she reassured him.
"Great, do with your life as you like", the priest started to walk off. "I need to send the good news to Mianite".
The priest walked away. The ice on the trees were already starting to melt.
"So what are you going to do, kid", she stopped skipping to stair back at me. "Let the wind take you".
She sighed. "Would you like that".
"Whatever you- want".
"Ok", she started walking off.
I sat down on the log. "Where ever the wind takes you". She didn't hear me say it. She was still walking off. I didn't have the patience to take care of her and she didn't have the patience to take care of me. I was fine with that-
"HEYO".
"Jesus, kid", I yelled.
She slid by me on the log hitting my side. "Miss me".
"I thought you were going where the wind was taking you"
She started messing with her hands. "I think the wind wants me to stay here". She smiled brightly up at me. "I might need to ask it though first".
"Pfft ok, the wind", I said the wind in airkwots.
"What?"
"You missed me", I smirked.
"I can't hear you the wind is in my ears!" She shouted loudly in my ears.
"Ok kid", I pushed her away.
"Is the wind ok with me staying".
"The wind has no choice does he".
She shoke her head no.
I tried laughing to myself but it didn't work. We both sat there silently. I got out the sugar and stared at. It almost got us both killed.
Hope started messing through her backpack. She brought out a leather tube with a strap on it. My sword. She plopped it in my hands as I sat motionless, astonished.
"How did you-"
"I slid it in my backpack before you hauled me up", she sighed. "I wanted to know I could trust you or not".
"Kid-".
"Most people start caring more about possessions and titles then people". She looked back at my hand. "Hey the sugar".
"Yea", I ripped it off the chain. "I think we should start calling it glitter though".
She giggled. "That'll work newbie, that'll work".

Beneath No Sky: Chronicles of the Atmospheric Sector
After bringing themselves back from the brink of annihilation, humanity's future seemed bleak. However, it's remnants, throwing aside the old order and donning a new mantle of progress aimed to rise above their ancient disputes and go forward as one. Once the Earth reached it's natural limit, and colonies around Terra and Luna had shown promising results, humanity finally decided to make the move to the stars. Believing this to be the start of a new age, they eagerly poured across the solar system and further beyond, greeting what space had to offer with hope and optimism. It was misplaced, however, for humanity's traditional quarrels soon resurfaced and engulfed a now interplanetary empire of many races. As the Earth Empire burned and an intense depression overtook the once optimistic people, some held out hope. They theorized that their problems were born of an inherent sense of home and, in order to rid humanity, now comprising of the Terrans as well as all the other known species of the galaxy, of this burden, decided to move far away from civilized space, into uncharted depths, to start anew. Some 200 years have passed since then, and those hopeful ones have finally found a place to settle on. Firmly planting their flag in paradise, they called this untouched land "Eden" and declared the beginning of a true new age, the age of After Eden.Trouble, however, seemed to still be hounding them, as barely three years after its founding, Eden finds itself at war with a seemingly uncommunicative and uncompromising enemy that far outclasses the odd pirates they were used to facing. A new era of peace, marked by an immediate conflict. Time will tell if Eden, the Grand Experiment, truly is as great as it's supposed to be. ---------------------------------------- This is a sci-fi, character driven, military space drama.
