《His Precious Mate.》2. Is she a wolf?

POV Alexander.

I got up the next morning, excited for school. Well more like, excited to see my mate. I hopped into the shower and then ran to my closet in my boxers.

I should wear something that Dayanara will like. I threw on some random jeans and put on a green shirt. I looked in the mirror but then decided that it wasn't good enough.

I tried on a black one but it was too loose. I'm a show off and loose shirts don't help.

'How about red?' Angelo suggested.

'Why the hell would I wear red?' I replied.

'She was wearing a red sweater.' He projected the image of her reading to me.

'You're right!' I exclaimed. 'Why am I acting like this? Like a girl? I should go work out. Definitely should work out.' I shuddered.

'Just put on a damn shirt so we can go see our mate.' My wolf snapped.

I put a dark red shirt over my head and smiled in satisfaction.

~~~
I grinned to myself when I read that I had English Literature first. One of my classes with Dayanara.
I rushed to the classroom and smiled when I noticed that she was already there. I plopped down in the seat beside her. "Good morning!"
"Morning." She grumbled, not looking up from her book. I checked out the cover and saw that it was a different book than yesterday.
Since there was no one yet and Dayanara was reading, I took in her appearance again.
She wore black jeans with a dark red blouse. Her hair was in a side braid and the glasses were on her nose. She scrunched her nose cutely as the glasses were nearly falling off.
Her nails seemed manicured, not clipped too short but not long enough to be gross. She shifted in her chair and stretched, causing her sleeves to rise. A dark bruise was visible on her forearm.
"Where did you get that?" I asked, trying to keep my cool. She looked at me confused and then her eyes widened a little when she realized what I was talking about.
"Oh you know." She chuckled.
"No, I don't. So tell me." I stated while focusing my hearing.
"I just hit my arm against the edge of a table." She shrugged but I could hear her heartbeat accelerate.
"Okay." I said, not pleased with the fact that she was lying to me.
During lunch, I sneaked off to look for Dayanara. I found her in the corner of the library on a big reading chair.
"Alexander," she sighed and I loved the way my name rolled off her tongue. "Come out already."
"How did you know it was me?" I asked while walking towards her from my previous spot between the bookshelves. I thought she was human.
"There is no one else here during lunch and you seem to be stalking me." Her eyes followed me as I took a seat infront of her. "And I saw those electric blue eyes peek out between the books."
"So, Dayanara." I started.
"No."
"No?" I asked confused.
"No, I don't want to answer your questions. I just want to be left alone. Just me and my book." She sighed.
"Alright, I won't ask anything." I agreed as I leaned back.
"Shouldn't you be eating lunch?" She groaned after ten minutes of me staring at her. Eventhough the book covered most of her face.
"Shouldn't you?" I fired back. She lowered her book and showed me a sandwich. "What's on it?"
"Chicken." She replied and tossed it to me. "Eat up."
"No, it's okay. I don't want you to get hungry." I shook my head while smiling.
'She cares.' My wolf sighed like a love sick puppy.
"I have another one." She assured and started eating her own sandwich.
"Thanks." I said before devouring the chicken sandwich.
~~~

"Do you need a ride home?" I offered Dayanara at the end of the day.

"No thanks, I'll just walk." She nodded before walking off.

I quickly sniffed out my Beta and tossed him my keys. "You get to drive the Camaro home. I got some unfinished business." He just nodded and I left.

I followed her home and waited to see if she'd come out again. And she did. I shadowed her until she went into the grocery store. I waited a few minutes before going in.

I followed her scent and ended up at the meat department. God, I love meat. Wait no! I need to find my mate, not drool over meat.

I slowly backed away from the meat, making a promise to myself that I'd get some meat later. A small yelp was heard when I bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry." She said and I recognized the voice.

"It's okay." I smiled and her head snapped up. "Here let me help you." I stood behind her cart. "What are we getting?"

"Uhm." She seemed uncertain whether to leave or stay. "Honey."

"Yes?" I asked, turning to her.

"No, we need to get honey." She stated with a small smile.

"Ah yeah. Of course." I chuckled embarrassed.

We strolled around for a bit and I took the opportunity to examine the contents of the cart. Honey, reese's, chocolate chip cookies and the usual stuff, like butter and eggs.

"I'll get that for you." I said as I saw her struggle to get something from the top shelf. I reached over her and grabbed the strawberry tea.

"Thank you." She smiled as I threw it in the cart. "I'm done now."

"Alright, I'll walk you home." I nodded. We check out and I grabbed the two bags.

"Thanks again." She said while looking at the ground as we walked.

"No problem. I'm here if you need any help." I informed.

"This is it." Dayanara mentioned to her house.

"It's cute." I pretended that I hadn't seen it before.

"Thank you, Alexander. I owe you one." She smiled before taking the bags ans stepping inside.

When I got home, I went straight to my office. I had asked Theo to get me the number from the neighboring pack, Black Wolf.

I dialed the number and held my phone to my ear. "Alpha Jimenez, who is this?" Their Alpha picked up.

"Hey, it's Alpha Kingston." I replied with a smile.

"Xander, what can I help you with?" He asked.

"I wanted to ask a favor." I said and he made a 'mhm' sound. "If anyone at your pack sees someone harassing Dayanara, intervene."

"Why? I'm not gonna put my pack at risk." He reminded me.

"She is my mate and future Luna. But there are some humans that bully her." I explained.

"Alright, I'll tell my pack to help her." He agreed.

"Thank you." I sighed in relief.

"No problem." He stated and then hung up the phone.

~~~
I made my way back to the grocery store to get myself that meat, when I overheard two guys talking. "Why would you wanna do her?" One of them asked with a disguted look on his face.
"Listen, I've seen her during PE, wearing tight yoga pants." The other explained. "And damn, Dayanara has got some curves." Something inside me just snapped and I stalked towards them. "It's not like she'd be strong enough to stop me."
"What were you saying about Dayanara?" I asked, clenching my fist.
"Dude, you heard me. I got first dibs." The guy smirked. "You can have her when I'm done with her." That's all it took for me to punch him in the face.
The other one started attacking me while shouting for help. Four other guys appeared and one of them had a knife.
After I had beaten them up, they scurried off. I groaned in pain and started to head the opposite direction of the store. I needed to make sure she's safe.
~~~

I knocked on her front door and Dayanara opened it. "Oh my God, Alexander are you okay?" She asked worried when she noticed my state.

"Yeah, I just love bleeding and getting bruises." I replied sarcastically. She rolled her eyes and opened the door wider. She supported me and we went to the kitchen.

Dayanara got out the first aid kit and then started cleaning my wounds. "What happened?" She asked while gently dabbing the cut on my eyebrow.

"Picked a fight with some guy but then his friends showed up and outnumbered me." I shrugged while taking off my shirt.

"What are you doing?" She stammered while blushing.

"One of them cut me." I said, amusement laced in my voice.

"Oh." She nodded and started to clean the cut. I took this time to observe her.

She wore yoga pants and a plain white shirt. She didn't have her glasses on and her hair was tied into a messy bun.

"Alright, all done." She chirped, snapping me out of my dazed state. "You're good to go." She tossed me my shirt before ushering me to the front door.

"Why do you want me to leave?" I growled as I put on my shirt.

"I don't want my uncle to see you." She replied while pushing me out the door.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused. Suddenly head lights turned into the street.

"Sorry, Alpha." She whispered before closing the door. My eyes widen slightly because she adressed me with my proper title.

I noticed that the car was approaching, so I fled into the forest before shifting into my wolf. As I was running back to the pack house, I couldn't help but wonder why she called me that.

If she is a werewolf, why doesn't she acknowledge me as her mate?
