It was the summer after sixth grade, I'd just moved and made some new friends and gotten a phone. I'd just recently started watching youtubers, and Shane Dawson happened to be one of them. Now, I didn't have a lot of access to the Internet before my phone because I was only allowed to use my computer for an hour a day before this. Not having a lot of access to the Internet meant not knowing much about sexualities or genders, in fact, barely knowing anything at all. The day Shane came out changed my life. I cried so much when I first saw it because I'd had crushes on girls and boys but figured it was just me being weird, and so I told myself I was straight. When I saw that video, I looked into more about sexualities, genders, and the LGBTQ+ community. At first, I thought I was bisexual. It made sense, as I liked girls and boys. But, in 7th grade, I started to like someone who was non-binary. They liked me back and we dated for a while, and I really did have a huge crush on them. This time, when faced with something like this that confused me, I went to the Internet again. After a bit of digging, I found what I knew was right for me: pansexual. Since then, I have come out to my family, friends, and most of my school. I'm very happy and I encourage anyone debating whether they should come out to do it, because if people reject you then it's their fault.
