According to Hadiths, there were 124000 Prophets, only twenty five of which are mentioned in the Qur'an.

The first Prophet was Adam (as) and the last is Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) the Prophet of Islam.

All the Prophets were Infallible, and they propagated common ideas. They had different rankings, and some of them held the position of Imamate in addition to Prophethood.

It is a very well known heartbreaking fact that cruel and corrupt rulers as well as evil people have caused great distress, hurted and martyred many Prophets (as) and the Holy Imams (as) throughout the history.

Whenever there is mention of their lives and teachings, and through our researches we can find more about their sacrifices that were made for the sake of Allah (swt), and their Martyrdom.

Prophet Zachariah (as), Prophet Yahya's (as) father, was childless until his aging years.

One day, when he saw lady Maryam (sa) and the heavenly blessings that Allah had bestowed upon her, he asked Allah for a child, "My Lord! Grant me a good offspring from You! Indeed, You hear all supplications".

In his prayer, he mentioned his lack of heirs and his fear from his relatives after his death.

In response, Allah (swt) promised him that he would have a child named Yahya, even though he was old and his wife was barren.

Prophet Yahya's (as) mother, Elizabeth, was Maryam's aunt, and her miraculous pregnancy was simultaneous with that of Maryam (sa).

Prophet Zakariyah (as) in his life, upon being introduced and learning about the 'Five people', who are Prophet Muhammad (saw), Lady Fatimah (sa), Imam Ali (as), Imam Hassan (as),

and Imam Hussain (as), wept and cried when it came to Imam Hussain (as).

For the tragedy he knew would happen in the future for Imam (as) as he was told and Martydom of Imam Hussain's, the tragedy of Karbala and his family.

He prayed to Allah (swt) to help him understand Imam Hussain (as) better.

He prayed to Allah (swt) to grant him a child who would be like Imam Hussain (as) and die in the same way as him (as).

Later, Prophet Yahya (as) was born.

Yahya b. Zakariyya (as) or John (as) was an Israelite Prophet (as). He became a Prophet when he was a child.

The story of Yahya's (as) birth, despite his aged father and barren mother, is mentioned in the Qur'an.

Prophet Yahya (as) was known for his asceticism and his abundant weeping in awe of Allah (swt).

The Martyrdom of Imam al-Hussain (as) is likened to Yahya's (as) tragic departure, and the imamate of Imam al-Jawad (as), Imam al-Hadi (as), and Imam al-Mahdi (a.n) in their childhood is likened to Yahya's (as) Prophethood in his childhood.

Some have said that Yahya-derived from the root h-y-y (to live) (Arabic: ح-ی-ی)- was so named because Allah (swt) took away the barrenness of Elizabeth and somehow "revived" her; others have said that it was because Allah created him with faith or with Prophethood.

No one was named so before him.

Yahya (as) became a Prophet when he was a child. One of his characteristics was the fact that he was a confirmer of Prophet Isa (as).

Yahya (as) followed and promoted the shari'a of Prophet Mosa (as), but when Prophet Isa (as) became a Prophet, he followed him.

According to historical sources, Yahya (as) was six months elder than Prophet Isa (a) and was the first person to confirm and believe in Isa' (as) Prophethood.

Owing to his piety and chastity, his Isa's (a) confirmation influenced many people to believe in him.

'Allama Tabataba'i states that "the book" mentioned in the Qur'an that Yahya (a) is ordered to hold on with power is Torah.

an Israelite king who was in Jerusalem, fell in love with one of his mahram relatives and wanted to marry her.

opposed this decision and told him that it is against the teachings of Torah and is haram, and his opposition led to the hostility of the girl and her mother towards him.

As a result, the girl's mother prompted her daughter to ask for Yahya's (as) head as a condition for the marriage.

The Martyrdom of the innocent Prophet Yahya (as) who opposed such corruption and sick deeds took place.

The corrupt King had married his brother's wife and had fallen in love with his wife's daughter.

He had presented a bowl full of gold to his soldiers to bring Prophet Yahya (as) to him because at that time he was in prison, because he had disagreed with the corrupt King.

He (as) had given fatwa that marriage with the daughter of your brother and your wife's daughter is haram.

Thus the king had ordered to put him (as) in prison.

The soldiers then went and took him to the place of the King.

Then, they beheaded the Prophet (as) in his presence and put his head in between the golds inside the bowl.

Then the girl Hirodiya went along with the corrupt King.

At that time, the head of Prophet Yahya (as) began talking and condemned their actions and forbid them from doing evil.

Then he (as) told the King, "Fear God, this girl is haram for you."

This is how the innocent Prophet (as) was martyred.

The name of Imam Hussain (as) was unprecedented just like the name of Prophet Yahya (as).

The time spent in their mother's womb was about six months for both of them, and both of them were sacrificed because of the corrupt tyrants of their time and had their holy heads cut off.

Imam Al-Sajjad (as) said, "We were together with Imam Hussain (as) during the journey of Karbala.

Imam (as) would remember Yahya (as) and his murder on his way to Karbala whenever he would enter a house and leave that place.

He would mention Prophet Yahya (as) and his bravery and he would say,

This mention of Imam (as) is similar to what would later happen to him (as) and his Martyrdom just like Prophet Yahya (as).

That is because of forbidding evil/wrong deeds. They took his head to the evil, tyrant and desirous ruler Yazid at that time.

"Visit the Shrine of Imam Hussain (as), he is the master of the youths of Paradise and the Sayyid of the youths of Paradise.

And he's similar to Yahya (as) that the sky and earth both cried for the innocence and Martydom of Yahya (as) and al-Hussain (as).

According to another hadith, the weeping of the heavens and earth happened only for Prophet Yahya (as) and Imam al-Hussain (as).

"Allah (swt) took the life of 70,000 of hypocrites because of the murder of Yahya (as) by the hands of bakht al-Nasr.

And soon Allah (swt) will be taking the life of 70,000 aggressors because of taking the life of the son of Hussain's daughter.

said, "Whenever Allah (swt) wants to seek helping his friends, he will seek it from the worst of his creations.

As he did for avenging the spilled blood of Yahya (as), he sought help through bakht al-Nasr.

When they cut off the Holy head of Prophet Yahya (as).

A drop of his blood spilled on the ground, and it began boiling.

And no matter how much sand they poured on it, the boiling blood would come out from amongst the sands and continue boiling.

A hill of sands was formed but the blood didn't stop boiling.

And the colour of the hill looked red.

It didn't take long for bakht al-Nasr who was a criminal at that time to gather all the corrupt people around himself and decide to rebel against people.

They would steal from places and kill anyone on their way.

Until they reached Jerusalem and took over the place.

Then, they brutally killed all the evil rulers and chiefs of that place.

Until bakht al-Nasr's eyes fell upon the red hill and he asked, 'what is that?'

They replied, 'A while ago, the king of this place killed Yahya (as) and beheaded him.

His blood spilled on the ground and began boiling.

And no matter how much sand they poured on it, it wouldn't stop boiling.

Therefore, a red hill was formed but still the blood is boiling.'

Bakht al-Nasr said, 'I will kill so many people on this red hill until it stops boiling.'

(This decision was also the punishment for the people of Jerusalem and the surrounding areas who were silent during the innocent Martyrdom of Prophet Yahya (as) and didn't protest against their corrupt King.)

It's mentioned, the scholars and devoted people of Bani Israel went to Armiya (as) one of the Prophets and told him, "Ask God and say, what is the sin of needy and women and the weak that are getting killed this way?"

Prophet Armiya (as) began fasting for seven days but there was no revelation for him.

Then he fasted for another seven days and still there was no revelation.

He fasted again for another seven days, on his third attempt. He finally had revelation and was told,

"Tell them, you saw denials and didn't forbid the denier to stop evil deeds."

By the order of bakht al-Nasr, 70,000 people were killed on that red hill so the blood of Prophet Yahya (as) would stop boiling.

But still, the blood was boiling.

Bakht al-Nasr asked, "Is there anyone left in this area?"

They replied, "An old woman is left and she lives in a certain place."

He responded, "Then, bring her as well and kill her on this red hill."

The soldiers obeyed his order and carried the mission. Then, the blood stopped boiling.

Later, after conquering places and building a city.

Bakht al-Nasr's time arrived and he was killed by the hands of a Persian servant.

And people found peace from his cruelty and evil deeds forever.
