《Brother of Wind {book 3: Rebooted}》chapter 7

Sun rise on the city of Ninjago. It was abandoned. No one in the streets. A single hovercopter landed. The ninja walked out and saw the city.
"What happened?" Kai asked.
"No power, that's what happened!" Cole exclaimed.
"Are we too late?" Zane asked.
"We better hope not." Morro said walking forwards.
Kai walked forwards and his foot hit something. A string. Cars crashed infron of the ninja, blocking their path.
People walked up on top if the pile of junk. The civilians. They were really aggressive, growling at the ninja. What did the ninja do? They just stood there.
It was a weird sight. Everyone was waring post-apocalyptic clothes and held ordinary objects as weapons. Weird.
"Outsiders must answer to the Postman!" A man shouted. The postman was standing near a corner if a building.
"Return to sender!" He shouted.
The ninja shugged at each other.
"Ah! You finally made it!" Cyrus Borg's voice pierced through the crowd. He rolled up on a regular wheelchair and greeted the ninja.
"Since power went out, everyone here has grown a bit bored. Their imagination knows no bounds." The tech genius said. He spotted Pixal.
"Pixal? Amazing! You're...powered!" He exclaimed.
"You need to stay in character, Borg. This is no fun if we're not all committed." The postman said.
"So they're roleplaying." Morro said.
"Oh, I'll have you committed if you don't all leave us at once. Now shoo!" Borg sent all the civilians away.
"We have real problems to address. Pixal, what's powering you?" Borg asked.
"Zane gave me half of his heart." Pixal answered.
"Thank you, Zane. I am greatly indebted." Borg thanked.
"Unfortunately, the hard drive was stolen with the digital imprint of the Overlord. You'll be unable to erase him with your Techno Blades until we find it." He informed.
"Don't worry, we already had a little run in with the red-handed suspect. Or, should I say white-handed?" Jay smirked.
"He left behind a white scale. Get this, he's Serpentine." Jay pulled out the small clue.
Cole pulled up a manhole cover.
"Lucky for us, the last Serpentine were sealed within a tomb right under the city, so it's about time we pay them a little visit." Cole suggested.
"Approach with caution." Borg warned before the ninja moved.
"I've also lost a few valuable prototypes. He may be armed and extremely dangerous."
"That's why I'm going there." Morro jumped down. The other ninja exchanged glances.
"He just needs some time." Kai concluded.
"We know about the srrpentine. And uh, ahem, just for the record, when those prototypes are made available to the public, could you let me know? They're just the coolest gadgets." Jay said.
Zane guestered to let Pixal first.
"Uh, Pixal...?" Borg asked.
"Where are you going? Now that my assistant has an unlimited power supply, there's an infinite amount of good to be done." He said.
Zane nodded at the female nindroid.
"As you wish, Mr. Borg." Pixal bowed.

Zane placed the cover on as he watched Pixal walk away.
"Watch your step, Nya. We don't know the last time this ladder was used." Cole said. Nya was the first to go down, after Morro of course.
"That's thoughtful of you, Cole." Nya said.
"AYYAWAA-- Why don't YOU watch where YOU'RE watching, Cole!" Jay yelled.
Nya's foot slipped and the part of the ladder she was on broke.
"Uh, guys?" Nya asked.
"Uh, guys. A little help?" She asked holding on with one hand.
"Oh, is that a threat? 'Cause coming from you, it sounds like some of your best material." Cole argued.
"Hahaha! There's a reason nobody liked you." Jay insulted.
"Help- AHHH!" Nya let go and fell. Thankfully, Morro was at the bottom and caught her.
"Oh, thank you." Nya said.
"Don't mention it." Morro put her down.
"Really, I don't want to be caught in that stupid argument." Morro said.
"Fair enough." Nya pulled out a glow stick that lit up the sewers.
Everyone else jumped down.
"IT WAS HIS FAULT!" Jay and Cole both shouted at each other.
"Let's keep our eyes peeled. Our mystery suspect could be anywhere down here." Zane said.
"Serpentine. Never thought I'd see them again." Kai said looking at the to ways to go.
-elsewhere-
"We know where the Golden Ninja is, so why are we doing nothing about it? I must escape this wretched digital prison!" The Overlord shouted at Ho's ally.
"Patience. The Golden Ninja won't go down without a fight, and we've already depleted our Electrocobrai. Before we take his Golden Power, we need more power of our own." The stranger said.
"Then find more. Once I become physical again, and rid the scourge that is the Ninja, I will walk Ninjago with the power to rule this world, and beyond!" The Overlord exclaimed.
"Don't worry. I'm one step ahead of you." The stranger pulled up a panflet.
-Hiroshi's laberynth-
"How anyone got through this jungle is beyond me." Lloyd said gazing at the tall trees and greenery.
"Hiroshi's Labyrinth. Legend says no one has ever escaped its deadly maze except for Hiroshi himself." Garmadon explained.
"But the maze is no match for your powers. This is the perfect place to hide from the Overlord's clutches."
"Hide. That's all I ever seem to do." Lloyd pouted.
"Your Golden Power only strengthens his cause. We must not lose sight." Garmadon said.
"But I miss my friends. What good is being all powerful if I can't ever have any fun?" Lloyd exclaimed. After everything, Lloyd is still a kid at heart.
"The Golden Power needs to be protected, honored. Evil forces will seek it, try to take it for their own. It seduces. Even your friends may one day covet it." Garmadon reasoned with his son.
"My friends would never hurt me." Lloyd protested.
"He who holds the power has a tremendous obligation. You must be prepared to handle this journey alone. Even without me one day." Garmadon said.

Lloyd sighed.
"Yeah, I know."
"Keep your chin up, son. Legend also states there is a jewel inside the maze, the most beautiful oasis no one has ever seen before. Perhaps we will be the first." Garmadon lead Lloyd and continued on their path.
-sewers-
The ninja neared their destination.
"Tomb of the Stone Army. It's been sealed since the Serpentine were trapped here." Kai said. It was a large stone gate in front of them.
"It appears the seal has been opened." Zane stated. The door was open.
The ninja herd whistling. They turned around to see a blue serpentine, Skales, slithering down the path with a basket.
"Aah! Not you again!" Skales exclaimed.
"Skales. Something told me you'd be behind this. Search his bag." Cole said.
"Wait--" Morro said but before they would listen, Jay grabbed the basket Skales had.
"Aah! This is harassment. I've done nothing wrong." Skales didn't fight back.
"Except steal the hard drive. Where is it? What are you hiding?" Jay questioned.
"He's hiding...groceries? And the latest issue of Ninjago Times." Kai said pulling out the items.
"What can I say? I'm a sucker for the crossword. Sorry, you've got the wrong snake." Skales said.
"Sorry about this, Skales." Morro said face planting.
"Didn't mean to jump to conclusions."
"Hmpf! No wonder I respect you to most." Skales retorted.
"Thanks." Morro said.
"Daddy? Are you okay?"
The ninja turned around. A little serpentine boy was just at the door to the tomb.
"Stay inside, Skales Jr." A pink serpentine called to the boy.
"Skales Jr.? Uh, you have a son?" Kai asked.
"We've been busy since you left us. And we prefer to keep it that way." Skales slithered up to his family.
"Is this about the Golden Master? Is he going to hurt us?" Skales Jr. asked.
"That is only a story, son. They were just leaving." Skales glared at the ninja.
"Golden master?" Morro asked.
"Is this about Lloyd?" Zane stepped forwards.
"Like you, we have our own legends. But I guess in ours, you are the bad guys." Skales said.
"What legend?" Nya asked.
"Do you have any scrolls?" Morro asked.
"You really wanna study these things?" Cole asked.
"I'm willing to study anything." Morro replied.
"You seem like that guy who does." Jay said.
"What's that mean?" Morro asked.
"Nothing."
"He have no scrolls. But we do have a story. They have a right to know. If we're going to shed a new skin, we must open our home to others." Selma, Skales' wife said.
"Oh, all right. Let's go, surface dwellers. If you'd like to hear of the Curse of the Golden Master, follow me." Skales lead the ninja inside the tomb.
"I don't like Serpentine, but I don't like curses either. If this has anything to do with Lloyd, we need to know." Kai said before walking in.
Remember the school class that the ninja had? That's still a thing. And they're going on a field trip!
"We may not have power, but we still have sharks!" The owner of Ninjago city aquarium shouted as the exited kids, supervised by Dareth, ran indie the establishment.
"All right, everyone. Stay together, stay together. Come on now." Dareth said to the kids.
"Why do we have to do our field trip at the aquarium? Can't we go to the Toxic Bogs or anywhere else not so lame?" Brad complained. GOD Brad, you are so annoying.
"Cause until your regular teachers get back from saving the world, I'm in charge and I have the responsibilities of making sure nothing bad happens to you. Now, single file." Dareth instructed.
"Did I ever tell you I am fluent in the language of the sea?"
"Great, Mr. Dareth." A girl walked by.
"That's Mr. Brown Ninja to you, Sally." Dareth corrected.
The kids passed through a tunnel with the animals swimming all around.
"Ahem. Excuse me. Which way to the Electrocobrai exhibit? I hear it's shocking." Dareth asked the security guard.
"That way." The guard sighed.
As the kids ran toward a the exhibit, someone came visible in the tunnel. It was the stranger clocked in white.
"Huh? Hey, you! Come here!" The guard said. The stranger kept on moving forwards and disappeared.
"Uh! Shocking!" The guard went to press the alarm but, there was no power.
"ALARM! ALARM!" The guard yelled.
"What is it?" Sally asked at the security guard's call.
"The sound of danger!" Dareth exclaimed.
"Huddle near child."
The stranger became viable again in the exhibit and took off a manhole cover from the floor.
"Hey, you're not one of my students." Dareth called.
"No. No, I'm not." The stranger pulled out a whistle and blew it. It was high pitched, the frequency broke the glass of the tank and the electrocobrai swam to the hole to the sewers. Water gushed out and the kids drifted off.
"Hold on, minnows! Hold on!" Dareth called.
"Help! Help!" Sally called.
"I've got you, Sally!" Dareth swam up to the adrift girl and pulled her back as an escaped shark swam up to them.
"Stay back kids!" Dareth yelled at the panicking class.
The shark swam closer. Dareth made his animal noises at the shark and it swam away. The kids cheered.
"Thank you for saving me. You really can talk to them. What did you say?" Sally asked as the kids got out of the water.
"I told him "leave the Brown Ninja alone, or else I'd be serving fish sticks."" Dareth said.
The electrocobrai swam down the drain and into a different tank underneath the sewers.
"The heist is complete. We now have enough power to go after the Golden Ninja." The stranger said.
"Good." The Overlord said.
