《Snatched》Chapter 53

"Listen Shota it's not what you're thinking."
You tried to keep up as your very unhappy uncle dragged you away from the 1-B dorm after grabbing both you and Shinso and escorting him back.
"I don't know what else it could be." he replied flatly.
"I just tripped and fell onto him!" you protested. "He was lost and we were talking."
Your uncle stopped in front of the teachers dorm "How did you know he was out there?"
"I have eyes Shota."
"If he was in a position where you could have seen him the camera's would have seen him first and set off the alarm." your uncle glared down at you. "I repeat. How did you know he was there?"
You gulped "I'm an empath?"
"Do not lie to me Y/n."
"What, you don't think I'm an empath?"
He grabbed your shoulders "Now is not the time for jokes."
It wasn't that you couldn't come up with a good lie, it was that you were being given the opportunity to come clean about your encounter with Dabi. Part of you wanted to say something and give the villains what they deserve, but another part of you still couldn't throw Touya under the bus.
Unfortunately part two prevailed again.
Time to gaslight.
"I really don't know why you're making such a big deal out of this. He was lost, he saw our dorm, he texted me, I tripped. That's it. You're imagining problems that aren't there Shota."
For a moment he just watched you sternly, looking for a crack in your composure but when he found nothing he sighed. "Sorry Y/n, I'm still on edge. You might as well head back to your dorm. I was going to make you stay here but if there's nothing wrong there's no reason to. You'd tell me if there was something going on right?"
You smiled tightly. "Yeah. Of course."
The walk back to your dorm was quiet and dark and before long you found yourself regretting making fun of Shinso for getting lost. You didn't exactly have time to get your phone when your uncle dragged you away.
Karma's a bitch.
You decided to head towards the road and find the main entrance to the school to orient yourself. After a couple minutes you were on walking along the main road in your dinosaur pajama pants that Koda sent you, half frozen to death.
I'm sorry Shinso I will never make fun of you again.
You turned a corner hoping you would finally see the school building but instead saw a man in a black coat leaning against a telephone pole, holding some kind of briefcase. The man was leaning with his head tilted up, looking at the stars with blue eyes. Very blue eyes.
You quickly unturned the corner, all of your survival instincts on high alert.
Okay Y/n don't panic. It's probably just some guy with blue eyes coming home from work. No need to be paranoid.
You tried to reason with yourself but your body was shaking with anxiety. You couldn't stop yourself from drawing conclusions.
I'll just check this guy's quirk, if he is you-know-who then I'll just book it.
You activated your quirk and immediately noticed three things.
#1 The guy around the corner was 100% Dabi.
#2 You could sense all the quirks of your classmates meaning you were right beside your dorm.
#3 The guy with the quirk that turned your toaster into a top hat was also in the vicinity.

You tried not to get distracted by the last thing and be reasonable but an idea was already forming in your head. You could report him like you should have already done, or just hop the fence back onto the UA campus, but the idea was quite simply too funny.
I'm so fucking stupid.
You mentally prepared yourself and then grabbed your first quirk. Turning the corner for a second time you practically glued yourself to the stone wall and inched towards Dabi. You really hoped he wouldn't notice the floating dino pants behind him.
As you drew closer you set your eyes on the briefcase he was carrying. He was still a villain and you really doubted that he had innocent tax document inside. Finally you positioned yourself behind him, mentally thanking Aizawa for the lessons on sneak attacks.
Okay this is going to have to happen fast.
You dropped Hagakure's quirk and snatched the one of the toaster-killer. You lunged forward and slapped the briefcase switching quirks again just as Dabi whipped around. When he felt the loss of weight in his hand he looked down at his new top hat and you made your next move.
You tapped the top of his head a little less than gently "Tag."
Using the telephone pole to brace yourself you pushed yourself over the school wall just before he looked up. You landed soundly behind your dorm, your knee aching slightly at the impact.
...
You slapped your hand over your mouth and raced inside before bursting out in hysterical laughter.
"Y/n? What's going on?" Izuku was the first of the people in the kitchen to speak up.
You tired to answer him but all you could manage were strangled goose noises.
"Mr Aizawa told us you were going to the teachers dorm for some extra lessons." Tenya studied you strangely "I'm glad to see you're in good spirits?"
You gave him a nod and a thumbs up and stumbled into the elevator. Your legs were weak from laughing at the absurdity and success of your plan.
You would have to explain to Ochaco why you had used her quirk in the morning. Hagakure wouldn't have noticed, you had previously tested if taking her quirk would make her visible but even at 100% she was still just floating clothes. You figured it was because her permanent invisibility was partly a mutation and you could only snatch quirks.
I hope Dabi enjoys his new accessory.
***
Dabi stared down at the black hat in his hand. Just a few moments ago he was holding the signal jammer that allowed the League to access UA and now he had a top hat.
On top of that he was 'it' now and he didn't even catch a glimpse of you.
He grinned. Shigaraki was going to kill him this time for sure.
***
"Listen Kat, I don't care if you don't like it you're going to wear it."
You faked left and lunged right holding a glittery pink lip-gloss applicator in your hand.
"Back off with that thing!" he almost screamed, jumping over the couch to get away.
"Why are you running?!" you hopped over the couch after him.
Despite your best efforts the League was detected after their signal jammer went offline and the UA security system clocked the change in frequency. You were 99% certain that their signal jammer was now a top hat but you left the staff to do the detective work.

Because of the discovery, all students were forced to stay in their dorms until further notice and Katsuki had make the mistake of dissing Hagakure's lip-gloss collection.
You, of course, would not stand for such insolence.
You narrowly dodged the pillow he chucked at you. "You brought this upon yourself!"
"I'm fucking sorry okay!?" he threw another pillow to keep you away.
You managed to catch it in your free hand "Don't worry I'll make you look pretty."
Katsuki bolted for the elevator and started frantically pressing the button but you were right on his tail.
"You should have taken the stairs."
When you were done with torturing him with lip-gloss you went back over to where Hagakure was giving makeovers.
"What do you think Y/n?" Denki asked, fluttering his huge fake eyelashes at you.
"Oh absolutely stunning Denki!" you grinned "And sorry about dinner tonight. I guess we'll have to postpone again."
He shrugged "I couldn't go anyways. Mina won't tell me how to take this neon pink nail polish off."
"I told you it's permanent." Mina sighed, hiding the nail polish remover behind her back.
Your class had spent most of the day playing board games and catching up on homework and sleep. It was finally starting to get dark and the girls had brought out their makeup to keep each other entertained.
You tried to hand the lip-gloss back to Hagakure but she wouldn't take it. "You can keep in Y/n, thank you for your service."
"Any time!" you grinned putting some on yourself. "Unfortunately, it didn't last long after I got it on Katsuki."
"I'm surprised you got it on him at all." Ochaco said, dusting some blush onto Koda's cheeks "He was fighting for his life."
"What can I say, I'm just too good." you said through a yawn.
Tsu looked concerned "You seem tired Y/n, you've been yawning all day."
You shrugged "I had an eventful night."
"Ooh that just gave me the best idea!" Mina said jumping up "We should have a sleepover!"
"Yes!" Hagakure immediately agreed.
"That sounds like fun." Ochaco chimed in.
"Hey guys I'm kind of tire-"
Before you could insist that you just wanted to go to sleep you were being dragged up to Mina's room and were shoved into the bathroom with a pair of pink PJs.
Great
You got changed and joined the rest of the girls in the circle they had formed on your floor.
"What should we do first?" Momo asked "I haven't had a sleepover in a long time."
"We have to play truth or dare!" Mina blurted out "Tsu how about you go first?"
"Okay truth or dare Mina?" Tsu asked
"Dare!" she exclaimed "I aint no bitch."
"Hmm" Tsu thought for a moment "I dare you to send a cursed picture to your crush with no context."
"Bet." Mina said pulling out her phone and sending a quick picture.
"Wait who did you send it to?" you asked stunned at how quickly she completed the dare.
Mina grinned deviously "That's a secret."
"That's so boring" Jiro sighed
Mina shrugged "Hey at least I can actually talk to the guy I like."
You held in your laugh at Jiro's expression "Me, personally, I would not let the slide."
"Come on guys no fighting." Tsu cut in before an argument could start "Mina it's you turn next."
Mina slowly turned towards you like a scene from a horror movie.
Oh god no
"Uhhh I've got to go walk my fish!" you said jumping up.
Momo gave you a confused look "Y/n you don't even have a fish."
"Oh right... I've got to vacuum my ceiling!" You tried, backing up towards the door.
"There's no getting out of this Y/n." Hagakure suddenly appeared behind you and guided you back into the circle.
"Fine." you groaned "But I reserve the right to run if Mina tries to kill me."
"I would never!" Mina replied with her best innocent smile. "Y/n truth or dare?"
You almost took the bait but Mina was never innocent. It took you a moment to realize that if you said truth she would ask you about your diary.
Shit
"You're despicable Mina." you sighed "Dare."
"I wasn't expecting that." Hagakure said surprised while Mina laughed.
"Alright Y/n prepare yourself."
"I am not prepared."
"I dare you to kiss one of the boys again." Mina grinned wide.
Your face immediately burned up at her reference to your scandalous kiss with Kirishima
"Mina-".
"AGAIN!?" the girls screamed.
She basked in the attention "I won't disclose anything that Y/n doesn't want to share but lets just say a red headed boy has seen some action."
"Kirishima!? No way!" Ochaco gushed.
You glared at Mina from across the circle but she just shrugged.
"Ah I owe you 20 dollars Tsu." Momo casually pulled a bill out of her pocket.
"Ugh I do to." Jiro groaned "I'll give it to you tomorrow."
"Wait what?" you looked between them "You bet on who I would kiss?"
"Kiss first." Hagakure clarified "I had my money on Todoroki."
"So did I." Mina pouted "I was so sure too!"
"Mine was on Midoriya." Momo added.
Ochaco nodded "Same."
"I was betting on Bakugo." Jiro huffed.
Your jaw was practically on the floor. "I hate you guys."
"We love you too Y/n!" Mina gave you a thumbs up. "Even if you did loose us money."
"Back to the game." Tsu shoved her earning in her pocket "Mina you didn't specify which of the boys Y/n has to kiss."
"Hey! I never agreed to that!" you tried to protest but were blatantly ignored.
"That's the fun part! We let fate decide!" Mina pulled out her phone. "I'll text the group chat that you need help with something and whoever shows up first is your prince charming."
You gasped and lunged at her reaching for the phone. "Mina no!"
She held her phone just out of your reach. "You know the rules Y/n, if you chicken out then you have to pick truth and you can't say no."
This bitch
You slowly sat back down resigning to your fate. You would just tell whoever it was that it was a dare and give them a peck on the cheek. Mina never said it had to be on the lips.
"Fine."
In no time Mina had texted the group chat and you and the girls were all staring at the door in anticipation.
"Guys if it's Mineta do I-"
"No." they replied in unison.
As you waited your heart began to pound erratically. You hadn't thought about anything that happened before you were kidnapped and were suddenly reminded of the weird feelings that had been plaguing you. Some part of you was hoping for certain people but you pushed it down.
Don't make things complicated Y/n.
Before you were mentally prepared, somebody knocked on the door.
You stood up and slowly opened the door.
"What do you need help with?" Shoto stood at Mina's door.
He was wearing sweatpants and a white tank top that was just a little bit too tight. Your eyes were drawn to places you hadn't stared at before on your childhood best friend.
"I uh, I - you know, the um, Mina - she..." you stuttered as your face began to burn.
He watched you patiently as you tried to form the words to explain the situation.
"SHE WANTS TO KI-" you slammed the door shut before Mina could embarrass you even further. Luckily, her outburst cleared your head enough for you to form a coherent sentence.
"Sorry about this Sho but we're playing truth or dare and I've been dared to um..."
"To what?" his eyes bore into yours.
Come on Y/n just do it!
"To kiss you." you managed, averting your eyes.
"..."
"But if you don't want to then really don't worry about it! Its not like you have to and consent is important and I don't want to to feel pressured and it's just a stupid game and they wouldn't even know if-mmph!"
He cut off your nervous mumbling with his lips.
Your eyes went wide but after a moment your body relaxed and you kissed him back. His hands snuck around your waist and he pulled your body into his. Your heart pounded roughly in your chest as your hands mysteriously made their way to Shoto's hair.
Suddenly something grabbed the back of your shirt and you were yanked backwards into your room. You stumbled into Ochaco and Hagakure slammed the door in front of you.
"Jesus Christ Y/n I said kiss not make out!" Mina gaped at you.
"What?" you managed through deep breathes trying to get your bearings. "I wasn't..."
The look all the girls in the room gave you indicated that you were, in fact, making out with Shoto Todoroki.
"We weren't going to stop you but Jiro was using her quirk and heard someone coming." Tsu explained
Momo smiled shyly at you "We didn't think you would want to deal with that."
"Thanks." you replied, your head still spinning from the encounter.
"Do you want to know who you could have been making out with if Todoroki wasn't first?" Mina wiggled her eyebrows at you.
"No." you shook your head "I just need a second to-".
BANG
Before you could get a moment to think a sound exploded from the hallway.
You jumped up reaching for the door "What the hell was that!?"
Ochaco grabbed your shirt again "Not you Y/n."
"I'll go." Tsu said slowly opening the door and stepping out into the hallway.
You tried to get a look at what was going on but a stern look from Ochaco stopped you dead in your tracks.
You shivered "I'm feeling very threatened right now. Why can't I just-"
"You'll just make it worse Y/n." Hagakure sighed "Take a look at yourself."
You turned to the mirror Mina had on the wall. Your reflection stared back at you but your hair was a mess and your lip-gloss was smeared all over your mouth.
"So you're saying I'm ugly."
Jiro gave you a blank look "You're literally so dense Y/n."
You were about to defend yourself but you heard some commotion in the hallway.
"Alright everyone back to your rooms, if Tsu is telling the truth then I will not inform Mr. Aizawa of this situation." Tenya's voice echoed into your room.
You heard some footsteps fading away and then Tsu came back to the room.
"Let's stick to truths from now on." she croaked.
The girls all nodded but you were still in the dark "What-".
"If you don't already know then you don't need to know." Mina sighed.
"...rude."
Katsuki stood in the center of the hallway glaring at the boy huffing in deep breaths in front of your room. Todoroki's hair was all over the place and his cheeks were red. He had come up to Pinky's room after reading her message and heard a door slam right as he turned the corner.
"What the actual fuck Icyhot." he glared down the hallway.
Todoroki finally noticed Katsuki and a small grin snuck onto his face. "I helped her already. You can go back."
"The hell do you mean." Katsuki's nerves were prickling as possibilities rushed through his head.
Todoroki only shrugged and started walking down the hall. As the two boys brush shoulders Katsuki noticed the pink lip-gloss glittering on Todoroki's lips.
It took him all of two second to realize the 'help' Todoroki was referring too and all of three seconds to set off his quirk.
The blast threw both of them in opposite directions but to Katsuki's dismay he wasn't quick enough to cause any damage.
Before Todoroki could return a blow, the door to your room opened and the Frog Girl stepped out and the elevator opened revealing engine-legs.
"What's going on here?" Engine-Legs asked sternly.
"We were just playing truth or dare in Y/n's room and it got a little out of hand." Frog Girl answered quickly. "Bakugo got dared to use his quirk. It was a stupid idea."
She glared directly at him and he reluctantly nodded his head.
Engine-Legs looked skeptical. "What about the message about Y/n needing help with something?"
"Another dare." Frog Face answered "If you see anyone else coming up here you can tell them that."
Engine-Legs finally seemed satisfied. "Alright everyone back to your rooms, if Tsu is telling the truth then I will not inform Mr. Aizawa of this situation."
Katsuki sent Todoroki a viscous glare and turned back towards his room.
That was not going to slide.
After a couple of hours the girls decided to go back to their room instead on staying in yours. You could barely fit just sitting in a circle.
You lay in your bed staring up at your very unvacuumed ceiling replaying your kiss with Shoto over and over in your head.
The way his lips felt on yours, the way your hands tangled in his hair...
You turned over and screamed into your pillow. You shouldn't be thinking about that.
It was just a stupid dare. It doesn't mean anything.
Right?

Journey of my Core
I have a hard time referring anything that I write to as 'Original'. The longer we as a species exist the harder it is to be truly original, I am certainly influenced by all that I read and watch Including but not limited to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, and all of the stories here on Royal Road. From the start the MC is only able to comprehend the most basic of what is impacting it with very little to no understanding of the MC's surroundings. There may be updates in the future, but I am in no way a consistant writer. I will never claim to be the best artist, but I drew a representation for my story. Procrastination... Procrastination... The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
