《Snatched》Chapter 6

"Hey Sho, do you want to tell me what today was about?"

"I don't know what you mean."

You sent Shoto a side glance, looking at his face, the light from the setting sun reflected off his eyelashes making him look like he was glowing.

"You know the whole, glaring at Izuku and being angry for some reason, and then pulling me away when I was checking on him, thing."

You waited for his response as the two of you continued to walk towards his house.

During middle school, you would go to his house every day after school and hang out doing home work and stuff until Endeavor got home. It's not like the Number Two Hero didn't like you being at his house, your parents were friends after all, you just didn't like seeing him.

"I just..." Shoto responded after a few minutes of silence, a pensive look on his face.

"I don't like how close you are with him."

I should have expected this.

You were Shoto's only friend after all, and you two were close. It makes sense that he would get worried that you were close with other people as well, in case he might lose you.

"Don't worry about it Sho, you're still my best friend and that's not going to change. Also you already know that I'm friends with Izu, I tell you about him all the time."

It was true, you talked about your other friends a lot to Shoto. The people who you would hang out with when you weren't with him. But it wasn't the fact that you had other friends that caused the icy-hot boy to act up, it was something else.

"No, Y/n it's not that I-"

"Shoto, your dad is home."

You had rounded the corner to your friend's home just to see his father's car in the driveway.

"He must have gotten off early, I guess that I'll head home then." you could barely ever handle being around Endeavor, he just held to many bad memories for you.

"Can you stay?"

You paused, those three words hit you like a hurricane.

When you were younger and Shoto's father abused him, those words were the way he would tell you that he needed you, not to step in, but to be there for the aftermath.

You could hear the little voice of young Shoto whispering to you as you left his room.

As you two got older and Endeavor let up on the training, your somewhat secret code fell into disuse and you would only use in emergencies.

Something must be going on

"Sure." you smiled

You were right, just earlier that morning his Dad had lashed out due to Shoto telling him he wouldn't use his fire quirk at UA.

He knew how much you disliked being around his father, but Shoto also was not prepared to deal with an entire evening with his dad alone, since his siblings wouldn't get home until later. You were the only person he ever relied on and he knew he could lean on you when he needed to. It was a trust that had been built up over a long time, but it was strong.

"You ready?" you asked him when you were at the front door.

He nodded

...

"Shoto." The tall fiery man was standing by the door.

"He must have been waiting for you." you whispered to Shoto stepping into the house after him.

"Y/n? What are you doing here." his eyes bore into your sole, today was obviously a day where you were not wanted in the Todoroki house. You felt yourself shrink to hide behind Shoto's shoulder.

"She came over to work on some homework with me." Shoto lied

"Fine, but Shoto we need to have a discussion later." you shivered. The way he talked to your friend was terrifying. His voice always held so much malice.

Shoto didn't respond and lead you towards his room. If you hadn't been there, that meeting would have turned out a lot differently.

That was the one kindness that Endeavor held himself to, he wouldn't do anything while you were watching nor would he ever make you leave.

"Well that went better than expected." you sighed flopping onto Shoto's perfectly made bed and chucking your bad onto the floor.

Shoto hummed in agreement, sitting next to you.

"I hate how he looked at you" the icy-hot boy clenched his fists remembering how he had to hold himself back when he saw the way his father glared down at you.

You brushed off his comment, not wanting to rile your friend up. But you were surprised, Endeavor usually was civil with you, he must really be in a bad mood.

"Why does he wan't to talk to you?" you remarked on his fathers demand

"I told him that I wasn't going to use my fire side." Shoto responded calmly

"Yeah but that's old news, why is he getting so bitchy."

Shoto had told you about how he was refusing to use his fathers quirk ages ago, and you supported him by not using fire either when you borrowed his quirk.

"He's still angry, but now he thinks I'll fall behind in our classes without it."

"Wow, boomers do be boomers" you rolled onto your side grabbing the syllabus from your bag and started reading through it.

You adjusted yourself so your head was on Shoto's lap and your feet were resting on the footboard of his bed.

Some people might think you look like a couple, but for you it was normal. You met Shoto when you were both five due to your parents friendship, and you had been together ever since.

After a while of just lying around reading through course material, you decided to grab a copy of your favorite book from your bag.

Usually you would be doing homework or finding something to do around the house, but it was the first day so no homework and Mr. Angry Fire Man was around so that was also a no.

Shoto was perfectly content with simply enjoying your company, he would occasionally look over your shoulder and read a few pages of your book but mostly he just admired you E/c eyes and H/c hair.

He had always felt something for you but it was only when you both went to middle school and he met other people when he realized that he did't feel the average feelings of friendship towards you. Of course he hadn't said anything, even he could take enough social cues to understand that the only thing that you wanted from him was friendship.

"Sho?" you broke the silence between you two.

"Yeah"

"When did it get dark?"

You both looked out the window at the dark night sky.

"I should head home. Are you good?"

"Yes I'll be fine.."

You got up and started grabbing your things

"Y/n?"

"What is it?" you asked absentmindedly pulling your bag up onto your shoulder.

"Thank you for staying with me."

You turned to look at him, his head was faced towards the ground and his hair fell over his eyes.

"Anything for you Sho." you ruffled his hair and he gazed up at you, a rare smile gracing his features.

He is too cute

"Alright it's time for the hard part, getting out of here without getting caught."

Technically, you weren't supposed to stay at the Todoroki house too long after dark because Shoto was supposed to train. But you often lost track of time, so you usually just hopped out the window.

"Text me if you need anything." you opened up the window and crawled out.

Shoto looked sick, he hated when you would jump off the roof, his room was on the second story and though he knew you would be fine but he still worried.

"Bye bye Sho!" You waved and yeeted yourself off the roof.

You landed on the lawn in a crouched position with a soft thud and tip toed to the road, not wanting to bring any attention to yourself. You twirled around sending Shoto a final wave and began your walk home.

***

You walked down your road humming along to the song playing through your earbuds and reflected on your first day at UA.

Today was really fun, I met a bunch of new people and I got to hang out with Izuku during school which hasn't happened since we were in Elementary. I am super beat though, I shouldn't have tried to show off during the ball throwing assessment, I over did it. That wasn't very Plus Ultra of me.

You walked past familiar house remembering the behavior of a certain angry Pomeranian.

Freaking Bakuhoe is in my class which I'm not too mad about, even though he fucking ghosted me for three weeks!

You huffed remembering how your blond friend had refused to talk to you after he found out you were being recommended to the hero course. He had said something about you thinking you were better that him and than proceeded to block you and refuse to talk to you.

He acted like a jealous, spoiled six year old.

Today was the first interaction you had had with him since then, and he seemed to have forgotten his past actions. To be honest, until now, so did you, you were just glad to see him.

I'll definitely kick his ass for that later.
