Chapter 29- Boys Can Be Such Idiots!
Jenna's POV
"What rules?" I asked for the fifth time but like the four times I asked before, I was welcomed with silence. I turned to look at Jonah and raised my eyebrow in anger.
"What rules are you talking about?" I asked him. He sighed and closed his eyes. When he opened them, he saw my eyes angered, impatient and curious.
What rules were they talking about?
"Uhh...just some simple ground rules as to where we guys have...restrictions in the area of---" James tried t explain but I cut him off.
"That's complete bull and you know it," I said, "I want the complete truth. What rules are you boys going on about?"
"James, we have to tell her," Jonah said. I heard him growl from behind me then he answered Jonah.
"If you didn't open your mouth then we wouldn't be in this situation right now,"
"And if you hadn't questioned her then I wouldn't have the need to mention it,"
"And if---"
"Can someone just answer me already?!" I shouted ending their argument, "Someone explain this to me right now." Jonah sighed and ran his hand through his black hair. Man, did he look sexy when he did that and---. Now isn't the right time to be attracted to him Jenna. Focus.
"The rules were made for...well, originally it was for every one of James' best friends but then Hayden got a mate so that rules him out of it and Conner...well, he already had a mate. These rules specifically told us that we couldn't be with you because of our friendship,"
"Just like the rules they made in the Bro Code movie?" I asked and he nodded while his hand was at the back of his neck. I turned around to James.
"How could you do that to me?" I asked him and he looked down guiltily, "who the hell gave you the permission to control my life like that?"
"Jenna, I was just trying to---"
"To what, look out for me? Protect me from the guys you call your best friends? I can't believe you right now,"
"Jenna, I--"
"I don't want to hear it. Believe me, I really don't." Then I turned to look at Jonah, who had a sad and guilty look on his face, "And you, that the reason why you back off, because James 'scared' you. Some man you are,"

"Jen, we didn't---" he was about to say but I turned my back, silent tears falling down my cheeks. I was done listening and waiting for him to be a man and just admit that we belong together.
"Of all the things you have done, I didn't---wait, you were the one who told Ben to back off, weren't you?"
"He didn't deserve to go on that date with you anyway. I just---"
"You know what James, fuck off. Both of you just fuck off. That's the reason why...you're just so urgh!!!" I said and was about to walk out of the room when I looked back to ask him.
"So what would you have done if one of your best friends ended up being my mate?" I asked him.
"That would be ridiculous; Jenna and you know it,"
"Well guess again," those were the last words I uttered before I left the room in tears. All because of him.
Jonah's POV
I can't believe that just happened. I can't believe that just happened. I honestly can't believe that just happened.
"I can't believe you boys. Who the hell gave you any authority to control her life like that?" Lilly asked James. He just stood there trying to find the right words, but nothing came out.
"I don't want to hear it," Lilly said then ran after Jenna.
"This is so messed up," he said as he threw himself on the bed. I sighed and decided to run and look for Jenna.
"I'm gonna go find her," and with that I left the room.
"Jen?" I asked when I finally found her. She was sitting at our spot under the trees staring at the water as it ran down the lake.
"What do you want?" she asked. Her voice sounded like she had been crying for a while. It took me about half an hour to find her.
"I want to apologize for--"
"Don't, just don't Jonah," she said as she stood up looking directly at me, "what I can't believe though is that you made James...James of all people, scare you away from me."
"He didn't---"
"I've heard enough from you for one night," she said and attempted to pass me but I grabbed her wrist.
"Listen to me, for once," I pleaded to her, "Often, many persons told me that I wasn't good enough or I was just a pathetic person. Even my mother has told me that and that's the reason why I moved into the pack house. I couldn't deal with the low level of confidence that I had, so when I moved in with the guys, they taught me to be who I am now,"

"So you're telling me---"
"Baby, just listen to me for a change," I said to her while I held her hand. Her eyes looked down at our now entwined fingers then back up at me. She sighed and finally relaxed.
"Fine, but make it quick,"
"So, when James told us about the rules, I was saying that he can't tell you who to date or whatever then he started doing the same exact thing that my mother used to do: degrade me and walk all over me like I'm a piece of shit. I almost punched him in the face when he said that to me, and he knew it too. Hayden was the one who suggested that I take a breather outside and I swear to God, I have never been so angry in my life."
"He did that?"
"Yeah, saying that none of us were good enough for his sister. I asked him the same question you asked before you left and he said that just the idea would be ridiculous. Apparently, I'm not good enough for you, any of us on that note. His best friends, the ones he should trust aren't good for his sister," I finished looking behind her at the trees as the wind brushed through them, allowing them to dance in the breeze. I felt her hand tighten in mine so I looked down at her. We stared at each other for a period of time, and then I had to spoil it by leaning in and trying to kiss her.
"Uhh, I think you should head back," she said as she withdrew her hand from mine. I tried to reach for her hand again but she held it out of my reach.
"What did I do wrong?"
"Nothing, I just...we can't...it's just..." she stuttered out quietly.
"Why is it that every time I try to reach out to you, you have some excuse that we shouldn't do this and we shouldn't do that?"
"Because it's...we can't...it's just complicated right now. Besides it's not like you're willing to fight for me so,"
"How is it always the same excuse, it's complicated? What makes it so fucking complicated?"
"Well, the fact that I actually have a boyfriend," she said making my breathing stop for a second or two. How the hell does she have a boyfriend now?!
Jenna's POV
"Well, the fact that I actually have a boyfriend," I said. Shock was written all over his face when IO said those words. Dammit I went too far with that one.
"Who is this 'boyfriend' of yours?" he asked. You could hear the venom and jealousy in his voice and his jaw along with his hands were clenched. C'mon Jenna, think. Who could be my fake boyfriend?
"Uhh...Logan," was the first name that came out my mouth. Shit, I shouldn't have brought the lies so far. Well, then again, Logan was my only...wait, I could have said Zack or Cory or anyone else. Urgh, this is not gonna be good.
"You're honestly gonna tell me that Logan is this so-called boyfriend of yours," he managed to growl out. I gulped and looked away guiltily at first but then I remembered I had to pretend to be offended or angry.
"Do you have a problem with that? Because, at least, he was willing to fight for me. He wasn't afraid of my brother like the chicken you are,"
"You know what Jenna," he started and my eyes widened at my full name. He's never called me Jenna no matter how serious the situation was, "I'm done with this game that you’re playing. When you're finished messing around with Logan, you can call me. You seem to be...I don't even know how to describe it right now."
"That's the kind of guy I never wanted, Jonah. Don't you get it; I want someone to fight for me. To be able to chase me when I'm being too hard to get. To---"
"Chase you? Jen, I've been chasing you for almost four years now and that was before I found out that you were my mate,"
"You know what, forget it. Forget you Jonah, I honestly don't need you in my life and to tell you the truth, I'm quite happy with Logan," I said and he growled loudly then shifted in his dark brown wolf. He leaped though the air then vanished before my teary eyes.
Well, that went absolutely well...
