Chapter 20 – It’s Hard For An Alpha To Apologize…Twice
Hayden's POV
"What did you do now?" James asked as he sat on the couch beside me. My head was still in my hands so I wasn't looking at him.
"That's what I'd also like to know," Conner said sitting on the other side of the couch.
"What are you guys, my relationship consultants?" I asked both of them as I sat up.
"Yes, yes we are," James replied earning an eye roll from me.
"Anyway, back to the matter at hand. What did you guys fight about this time?" Conner asked. I sighed and started explaining none the less.
"Alright fine, uhh, well...we were all watching TV. You remember the time when Nat decided to show up?" I asked them and they both nodded, "yeah, and she came in complaining about how Zara show have been dead already, that she's a bitch and that she didn't want a rogue in the house that she lives in. So naturally, I started defending Zara, saying that she had a right to live here as much as the rest of us and that she wasn't a bitch. Then there was silence and then she just blurted out that I liked Zara," I said but James interrupted me.
"Wait, aren't you like...supposed to 'like' her. She's your mate," James scoffed and folded his arms as he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, well she didn't know that," I said rolling my eyes as well, "anyways, so she got all angry and...uhh, jealous I guess, so she pushed me down on the couch and kissed me. And that's when Zara came in and saw us," I finished. Both of the guys slapped me in the back of my head at the same time.
"What the hell guys? I didn't even do anything this time," I protested.
"Yeah, but its just fun doing that," James said making me growl at him.
"Alright, if you didn't do anything then what position did Zara find you in that caused her to be upset with you?" Conner asked.
"I don't know?!" I complained and ran a hand through my hair in frustration, "I tried talking to her but she just wouldn't listen to me. Even a minutes ago when she came down, normally a girl would run to their mate if they want protection but instead she ran to you guys," I said, the last part coming out as a snap.
"Jealous," Jonah said. I glared at him making him shut up. I even forgot that both he and Logan were in the room.
"It would be smart if shut up right now," Conner warned him. Wise choice...
"Yeah, you should," I said standing up and still glaring at him.
"Whoa, down boy," James said pushing me down. I narrowed my eyes at him. No one orders the Alpha around.
"Can we get back to what we were doing please," Conner said, "for once I would really like some peace in this house."
"Don't we all. Yeah, so you were saying..."James said. He stood in front of me and folded his arms.
"Yeah, so I started explaining, or trying to anyways, but she just ran out of the room crying. After she left, I started shouting at Natalya then she asked me if she was my mate and I told her yeah. After that she just went blank and I started shouting at her again telling her how she messed up my awesome progress," I said which James scoffed at but I chose to ignore him, "then she just rushed out of the room as you guys came in."

"You know that doesn't answer my question, right?"
"Oh yeah... what was the question again?" I said and Conner rolled his eyes.
"What position where you guys in?"
"Uhh...she was on top of me when she pushed me on the couch. I said this already," I answered.
"You also already answered the question about why she wasn't talking to you but that didn't stop you from repeating yourself, did it?" Conner replied. Smartass...
"Just carry on with whatever you guys are doing"
"Ok, next question pertaining to the matter: when Zara walked in, was she straddling you?" James asked.
"That's what 'on top of' means you big ass," I replied. For that question that James asked, he got slapped in the head by Conner. He glared at Conner but said nothing.
"Next real question: was your arm around her waist or on her body at all?"
"Well yeah, but it wasn't...we weren't...she was the one who kissed me."
"That doesn't answer my question genius. Was your hand on her?"
"Well, when she pushed me down, I just put my arm there to steady her. It wasn't anything...it didn't mean anything," I retorted.
"Because that's what Zara told me," Conner said and my eyes widened at him.
"She came and TALKED to you. Why was I not notified of this?"
"Because I didn't think it was important," he said with a shrug.
"Wasn't important? She hasn't said a word to me all week...All WEEK...and you think it wasn't important for me to know that my mate talked to you!"
"Again with the jealousy..." Jonah said again and I growled and attempted to grab him but the guys held me back.
"Jonah, can you leave the room for a moment?" James asked struggling to hold me back. Jonah sighed and got out. James and Conner then pushed me down on the couch.
"Alright, listen and listen good," Conner said, "you are going to go upstairs, knock on the room door and when she opens it, you're going to apologize. Got it?"
"You're forgetting the fact that one: she won't want me near her no matter how much I try. Two: she's either going to shout at me or kick my ass. And lastly, three: an Alpha doesn't like apologizes."
"You are also forgetting that she needs you right now. She might look alright but from what Natalya said to me with her mind link, she's breaking down..." he said but I cut him off.
"Wait...you talked to Natalya too! Where the hell was I during this?!"
"You were staring at Zara like a lost puppy," James stated, "plus, you blocked your wall from us."
"Ohh..."
"Well, he kinda is a lost love sick puppy," Conner said turning to James.
"Well, then again, he is in love with her and all so..."
"I am not a---" I was about to say but a voice interrupted me from behind.
"Yes, Hayden you are," Natalya said. I turned around and saw that she was standing next to Zara. We stared into each other's eyes for a moment and then she looked down.
"Will you guys just make up already?!" Nat screamed and Zara scowled at her. Then her beautiful blue eyes looked back up at me. I sound corny don't I?
"You know it's not that easy," Zara said referring to Nat's previous statement and then she turned to go outside. More like ran outside. As of on instinct, I ran after her but she already made her way out the door. I ran faster and then grabbed her by the waist.

"Let go of me," she said quietly as she came to a complete stop.
"Just stop and let me explain," I whispered in her ear. Then she turned around and glared at me.
"Explain what Hayden? That you just happened to fall on the couch and Natalya just happened to kiss you? Or it just happened that your hand was around her waist and you were kissing her back?"
"None of that's true Zara," I said, "I wouldn't do that to you. To us. I...I..."
"You what?" she said out of frustration.
"I love you," I blurted out closing my eyes then I heard her gasp. I reopened my eyes to see her staring at me wide-eyed.
"You---you what?"
"I love you," I repeated while I fully wrapped my arms around her. I looked down at her and kissed her lips. They were so soft...so sweet. Few seconds and she wrapped her arms around my neck, bringing me closer to her. I tightened my arms around her and tried to deepen the kiss. I bit her lower lip and mentally rejoiced when she opened her mouth. Our tongues fought for dominance but, as usual, I won (because I'm awesome *wink*).
I pulled apart breathless and rested my forehead against hers. Her eyes were still closed and just as me she was breathless.
"I'm...I'm sorry," I apologized. This apologizing thing isn't really working for me. Alphas don't apologize. She opened her eyes to look into my eyes and then sighed.
"You can't just do stuff like that and say sorry then expect me to forgive you just like that," she said quietly. My hands ran up and down her waist.
"I'm really not good at apologizes but I...I just want to say I'm..." I gulped, "I'm sorry for what I did to you. The kiss meant nothing to me, I promise," I said.
"Damn right you aren't good at apologizes," she said as she rested her head on my chest. Progress! We stood there in silence for a moment, and then I spoke up.
"So, can I take this as a 'you-forgive-me' moment or an 'I-pity-you-moment’? Which one?"
"More like both," she said laughing and I rolled my eyes, "alright, look...if were gonna do this again, you have to promise me one thing."
"Anything,"
"Just...don't break my heart. It has been broken too many people," she whispered, almost pleading. I lifted her chin up to look at me and then kissed her.
"Every couple has their moments, and I can't promise you that sometimes we won't fight but I will try not to. I'm not gonna be like every other guy and says that he won't break their girl's heart because in the end, it still ends up broken," I said looking deeply into her eyes. She nodded and then pecked my lips.
"Alright," she said then pulled away from me. I gave her a confused look which she laughed at.
"Well we have to go inside sometime,"
"Do you know how long I've been waiting for you to be in my arms and now you're gonna interrupt my moment by saying that we should go inside?" I asked and she laughed. It was really great to see her smiling like that...all because of me. The fact that I made her smile brought joy to me. She grabbed my arm and dragged me.
"Come on, I have to talk to Natalya," she said grinning while I pouted.
"Oh, don't ruin your moment because of me, Hun!" we both heard Natalya shout from the doorway. We turned around to look at her then we looked at each other and for some unknown reason, we just roared in laughter. I pulled her to me and buried my head in the crook of her neck.
"You see, we can still have the moment," I said wrapping my arm around her waist while the other was in the middle of her back. She sighed dramatically and wrapped her arms around my neck.
"Oh well, I thought you would have offered for us to carry on in the bedroom but if you insist of standing here, oh well..." she said then trailed off. I was instantly turned on with the thoughts that ran through my mind.
"Bedroom, now," I ordered as my voice was now coated with lust. She laughed and ran away from me to the front door. I smirked and ran after her going towards the house. It wasn't hard to catch her though. She giggled as I spun her around then placed her back on feet.
"Oh Mighty Alpha, before we go upstairs you have to do one little thing..." she said trailing her hand down my chest. My wolf was now fully turned on and her wanted her now.
"What's that?" I said my voice filled with desire and lust. Hell, I wanted her now.
"Say two little words for me. The same two words that made me forgive you a minute ago. Those two little words that Alphas refuse to say." I gulped and tried to speak but the words just wouldn't come out.
"I'm--I'm--"
"You're what?" she said smirking. Damn it, she was enjoying this. Just then I heard muffled laughter from my side notifying me that it wasn't just the two of us here. Ok, I had two choices here: one- just ignore the two words and say 'forget it, I ain't saying shit' which will cause Zara to be angry with me again, leading to her not talking to me and me keeping my Alpha pride (which is never following anyone else's order and NEVER apologizing). Option two- just say the two words that she's begging for and live happily with her, constantly getting teased by the guys saying that I'm 'whipped'. I think we all know the better option right now.
"I'm--I'm sorry," I breathe out and saw Zara smiling. She leaned up and kissed me.
"Now, was that so hard?"
"Yeah babe, believe me. It's hard for an Alpha to apologize," I said, "twice..." She laughed and pulled me closer to her. I heard the guys laughing hard behind me, but I ignore them. Right now, nothing was more important than the representation of beauty right in front of me.

Trickster's Luck (Fantasy LitRPG)
Not all luck is good luck. Maya found herself at a character creation screen. Who was she before this? Why was she creating a character? What was the game? No idea. But she had nothing better to do and no reason not to play along. And when given the option for a rare luck-based starting class, how could she turn it down? It was rare and special! That must make it good. Right? Character-focused, low-stakes, post-death upload. Hard system: if the stats say she loses a fight, she'll lose the fight. Randomized outcomes: I roll dice behind the scenes regularly, so events flow according to the whims of chance. Nothing is set in stone. There is an overarching plot, but how the details play out and what path we take to get there is up to fate.
