In English, we use present progressive to describe what is happening now or what is going to happen in the future. For example, I am studying Spanish right now. I am studying Spanish tonight.

But in Spanish, It is NOT used for future actions.

The rule is very simple for present progressive in Spanish.

For verbs ending with at the end when doing conjugation. For instance, comer - comiendo, vivir - viviendo, etc.

For verbs ending with at the end when doing conjugation. For instance, hablar - hablando, trabajar - trabajando, etc.

Now, let's apply this rule in full sentences.

1) I am studying Spanish.

Estoy estudiando español.

2) She is swimming at YMCA.

Está nadando en YMCA.

Easy peasy, right? :)
