It was somewhere around October end, the start of November when I decided to have a sequel to Jodha's Jalal. You might ask why?
Okay, so here goes. I have always been interested in writing love tales of historic times. And apart from Jodhaa Akbar, it is Jahangir and Nur Jahan's love story I like a lot. So, I decided to write a story on them as well; I mean why not, right?
And for all those of you who think that this is a love story of Anarkali and Salim, then let me stop you there. Anarkali was a fictional character first popularised by the 1960 movie Mughal-E-Azam. There is no significant evidence of her existence. She was in Emperor Akbar's harem, one of his dance girls. She will play a little, not very important role in this book, but this work is mainly based on Mehrunissa and Salim's love story.
Don't get confused by their names. After becoming Emperor, Salim adopted the title of Jahangir. Also, Mehrunissa was given the title of Nur Jahan, after she was wed to the emperor and became the empress.
Ruqqayah will play an important role in this book also. This book can be read as a standalone, however, if you read it after reading Jodha's Jalal, you'll enjoy it more and even get certain references.
Don't expect Jodha-Jalal's love scenes. This book is purely based on their son's love story. Yeah, the heir for which Jalal waited for so long.
So, dive into the book and enjoy it with patience, just like you did with Jodha's Jalal.
