《The Golden Girl》11. Faking it (Part One)

Humming an old song to herself, Martha took the stairs, making her way to Faye's room where she was getting ready for the auction.
"Martha, I will be leaving now, make sure that she arrives in the after party just in time, if not, remember, your job will be in stack." And a shiver run down through her body as she heard her boss's haunting voice, Arthur Lockwood's voice.
"Y- Yes sir... I... I will make sure that... that she get's there just in time, just in time sir." She stammered, her voice weak and fear visible in it.
He firmly nodded and barged out of the room. That's when, she let out the breath she didn't know she was holding.
Turning around, she made her way to Faye's room.
Martha felt bad for the poor child that she has been looking at since the last thirteen years. The things that she had been through, the things that she had seen, she didn't deserve them, she didn't deserve being treated like that. Martha had seen Faye turning from a child to the girl she is now, she has seen those drastic changes in her and whatever the outsiders say, Martha didn't care. She was proud of her, proud that even if she has been through so much, Faye still can held her head high and face the world with so much confidence.
"Faye, child, are you done?" And as soon as Faye heard her voice, she opened the door and grabbed Martha's hand, pulling her inside.
She instantly threw herself on Martha, hugging her tightly "Where were you? God, I missed you so much, so much. You didn't tell me where you went to, I was so alone here, even Georgina wasn't there, she just arrived last weekend, you know I am not that close to them, thank God you are here now." Pulling away Faye looked at the woman standing in front of her, the woman whom she had spent her last thirteen years with, whom she had spent her childhood days with.

"Gosh honey, I missed you too. I am sorry I didn't tell you. Things went a little sore back down in Toronto, took some time to clear everything." Martha said, patting Faye's cheek, a warm smile on both of their faces.
"Anyways, are you ready for the party?" And when Martha took a good look at Faye, her eyes widened, her mouth opening and closing like a fish. She didn't believe in her eyes.
"What are you wearing?" She finally asked, her eyes running over Faye once again.
And that is when a devilish smirk grew on Faye's face. Leaving Martha there, she walked up to the mirror and running a hand through the fabric of her dress, she looked at herself, "Do I look like a slut?" She asked, the smirk never leaving his face.
Her eyes ran through her own body, through the tight backless golden dress that was clinging on her body, almost becoming the second skin. The dress was so so so tight and short that it hardly came two inch below her bust.
Her hair was messed up and her face, well, that was a different story. Her sapphire orbs were covered with a thick layer of eyeliner and dark eyeshadow. Her face was covered with concealer, a pink blush visible on it.
Though she was looking hot as hell, she knew that it was not an appropriate dress code for the afterparty and nor for the auction. She will look like a prostitute compared to everyone out there.
And that's what she wanted to look like.
A bitch, a whore.
She wanted to make her dad feel ashamed upon her, she wanted to make her dad regret his decision.
"You are so not wearing that." Martha's eyes were narrowed and a frown was making its way towards her face.
"You don't understand, I need to wear that." She shook her head, a small smile visible on her face. No, not a happy one, but one that mocked herself.

"No, you do not have to. I know why you are gonna wear that, I know you, you... you want to make your father regret... I know you too well... I don't want someone to point a finger on your character, on your reputation. I don't want people to talk about you." Martha slumped on the bed, looking helplessly at her.
She walked up to the bed and kneeling down, she held Martha's hands, "Nothing will happen to me, I promise. You do not know what he did to me today, I... need to do this... I will take care of myself, you do not have to worry."
"I do not believe, I am not going to let you go there like that."
"Now, you are overreacting. It's just a party and no one will try to lay a finger on me."
"At least, comb your hair, you... you are looking wild." Martha stood up, a glare blending with her features, "I still do not approve of you going there like this, but looks like you do not care about my opinion anymore." And leaving Faye, Martha stormed out of the room.
She was just about to go after her, just about to go when her phone rang, a call from the man whom she calls 'father'.
"Why are you not here?" His voice was cold.
"I am on my way." And before he could say something else, she hang up.
Walking towards the mirror, she ran a comb through her hair, pulling the blonde strands into a tight bun.
She didn't have time to talk to Martha, she was running late and she knew too well what her father was capable of doing if she do not reach in time.
"I am sorry Martha." And grabbing her purse along with her car's keys, she switched off the lights of the room, walking out of the mansion in her golden stilettos.

"What are you wearing?" She instantly heard her father's voice after walking out of the car.
"Clothes." She said, a smirk appearing in her features.
"I... I... you know that's not appropriate." Arthur Lockwood greeted out, his eyes narrowing by a fraction.
He was angry, damn angry.
"You lost me my everything, now, you are gonna tell me what to wear and what to not."
"Hold your tongue, young lady. I do not like where it is going."
"Mr Arthur, I am here just for my friend, just because you threatened me, and this is the last time you are doing this to me. Do not expect any corporation and manner from me when I walk inside the ballroom. I am here, cause we made a deal. Do not expect anything." She said, smirking devilishly.
"I never expected anything from you honey, never. I do not care whatever you do out there, whoever you flirt or have sex with. I just needed you to come here because, every man has to bring their family with them, to enter the ballroom. And as long as you do not embarrass me publicly, which I am sure you will not dare to, I have nothing to care about."
"Maybe you are wrong. I can and really will embarrass you out there."
"I have many things against you, my daughter."
"You don't." Anger evaporated through her.
"I do, because you care, you care about things, about others, I don't."
And giving her a cold, ice breaking smile, he walked towards the entrance.
A single tear fell out of her eyes, which she wiped instantly and covered with makeup but, but her heart, she was not able to calm it, it was sick.

Bint of Gilgit ~ Pakistani Love Story ~ ONGOING ~
For Nazli, the world is limited from her tribe to the Forbidden Valley. For Asadullah, the world is limitless and his for taking. ***"You should be honored that a man like I have taken such an interest in you!" Asadullah smirked, swirling his small handgun on his index finger. The green-eyed girl paled - her skin already porcelain white and quite different from any other he had seen in the country before. She was definitely beautiful even in her less than impressive rags. "Asadullah hardly makes such a generous offer." He said, liking the self-praise more than he wanted to admit. She shook her head - her dainty fingers wringing in her golden braid. Little Goldilocks. "Think again, little girl. The blood of your people will be on your hands." ***The setting is in Gilgit in a fictional valley called the Forbidden Valley. The image is not mine. The story and characters are.
