《The Golden Girl》5. She's the queen, without a knight

They stared, they stared as she walked into the building, looking like a diva even in the bloody crooked uniform. Confidence, boldness, power reflected in her eyes.
No one knew about the darkness, the crumbling secrets, mistakes and regrets.
No one knew about the flaws...

"Why isn't she breathing?"
"She's dead..."
"I will miss you, try to be good when I am gone, yah?"
"I could have gone away..."
"I wish they might have never born..."
"Do you think I care?"
Those haunting words kept on whirling around her mind. Those memories, those places, it made her feel sick.
Faye wanted to erase each and every memory, she wanted to move on from her sister's death, to vanish the throbbing pain of her heart.
She just wanted to be happy, she just wanted to live like any other teen of her age, she just wanted to lead a... a normal life.
Anger was evaporating through her nerves. Hot tears wield up her eyes as harsh reality once again entered her mind.
She fastened the speed of the treadmill and ran as fast as she could.
Her whole body was covered with sweat, hairs sticking out in her forehead. She looked kind of miserable with her eyes and nose red from constantly crying.
"You're meant to be strong Faye, you are strong." Sumner's voice revolved around her mind.
Yes, yes her sister is right, she's strong, she will have to be. Slowly and steadily, she slowed up her pace and eventually got of the treadmill.
Her eyes instantly fell on her buzzing phone that was placed on the side bench.
She picked it up, "Mads?"
"Are you ready for school, ladybug?" Faye heard Madeline's cheerful voice from the other side.
Its Monday today, which meant that they have school, that there are no parties, no booze for the next five days. Every pupil is ought to hate the beginning of the week, not that it only takes away the fun but cause it also dumbs submission dates and tons of homework in a student's lap.
And just like every other student, even Faye hated this day.
Rubbing her forehead with a clean towel, Faye exited the mini gym that was personally made for her and walked up to her room.
"Will be in fifteen minutes... well, so that ya know, you're my ride." And after babbling through the phone a little, Madeline hung up.
Heaving a sigh, Faye entered the bathroom. She ran the shower and felt the water running through her body. Her eyes instantly went to the foggy full length mirror that was placed in the wall.
She was the queen but... but at that time, she looked fragile, she looked dead.

Faye was good at hiding emotions, damn good. God, even her best friends did not know about her chaotic life.
And she liked to keep it that way...
She wanted to play the role of the same perfect girl in front of them.
She looked at the mirror once again. It was time for this fragile girl to go, for this pathetic girl to be replaced and... and just like that, with a snap, her blank emotions took the shape of a smirk, her face took the shape of a conqueror, of the golden girl she was.

Faye Lockwood and Madeline Bishop stepped in the hallway of Lackview prep and just in a split of second, each and pair of eyes were on them.
Lackview was a private school and they had uniforms, uniforms that makes students cringe.
They had dark green pants, green skirts, a white shirt to tug underneath, a green tie with golden strips and a green blazer that had the school's emblem printed on the back.
And even in that bloody crooked uniform, Faye and Madeline looked hot, damn, like damn fucking hot.
Mads had a smirk engulfed on her features whereas Faye had a broad smile that can brighten anyone's day.
"There they are." And they saw Kyle and Max running towards them, a kind of worry embracing their faces.
"Hey guys." Madeline greeted, grinning ear to ear.
"Forget about the greetings Mads, we have to do something, River is having a fight with Valentino by the lockers, you know the senior basketball player. They are practically going to kill each other. "
Horror flashed in Faye's eyes.
She knew River was going to do something dumb. He's ought to.
The four of them ran towards the hallway. A crowd had already started forming around the place, blocking the space for someone else to go ahead. One-fourth of them were cringing at the scene that had enfolded itself in front of them, some were cheering and were pulling out their phones to record the whole incident to gain popularity in their social pages and the others who were left, they were watching in horror, to afraid to make a move. All of them were there, including the seniors, which was not at all a good thing.
Madeline saw one of the teacher's pet running down the hall and instantly knew that the fight had to stop or else they may get into trouble.
She turned to Faye, "I just saw Sebastian running from here, he surely has gone to inform the teachers, we will have to do something, fast." And Faye hurriedly nodded at her as both of the guys ran to help their friend.

Faye tried to walk through the crowd, pushing people here and there, trying to make a path for her and Madeline to go through but, the plan was gone in vain. No one even buzzed.
That's when anger evaporated through her, "Get out of my way." Her voice boomed, making the people surrounding her to look at her in horror. The shouts and cheer faded away. Every voice got inaudible and the crowd formed a clear path for her to go through.
She suddenly was in the middle of the circle and that's when she knew how dirty the fight was.
Punches were thrown from here and there, dirty insults and comments were blending with the atmosphere.
"You bastard." River shouted at Valentino, punching him on the nose. He shoved him on the lockers, throwing punches here and there.
He was angry. Too angry.
"You motherfucker, I dare you to say another word against her." River grabbed him by his collar, banging his body against the metal of the locker again and again.
"Leave me... you... you psycho." Valentino grabbed both of his hands and tried to strangle out of his grasp.
Max and Kyle ran to grasp River, but the effort was gone in vain, he did not let go off him.
"River, leave him. Man, he will fucking die." Kyle said, trying to pull Valentino out of River's grasp.
"That's what I actually want." River said, his voice raising.
Faye could hear the continuous cheers that were coming from the background.
"Fight." "Fight." "Fight." "Fight." "Fight."
Her eyes scanned the whole crowd, those sapphire orbs were practically begging for help.
And that's when she met those familiar pair of forest green eyes.
Aubree Beckham.
"Faye, we will have to do something. He's going to kill him." She heard Madeline's quivering from behind and turned around.
"Hey, don't worry, I am gonna do something." She patted her cheeks and glanced at Aubree once again.
"We will have to stop this. I don't wanna witness a murder here." Aubree mouthed to Faye.
"How will we stop it?" She mouthed back.
"I don't know but it's getting ugly."
"I know, they are going to kill each other."
And before Aubree could say something else, a punch was thrown at River's face, hitting him fare and square.
Faye knew that it was going to rise his temper to an another degree. Gulping the lump that had formed in her throat, she shouted at last, "Guys, stop it."
Surprisingly, no one heard her peace call. Everyone was way too busy hearing the roar that had left from River Blake's throat.
Anger evaporated through her, she wanted to just stop this, "I said stop this nonsense." And this time everyone heard her booming voice, everyone saw her anger.
"Just stop it." She looked at the crowd and continued, "You all, get out of here. I want the hallway clear by the next vary minute." Her eyes held such a power that hundreds of students already started to walk away from there.
"One more thing, I do not want any video of this in the internet, not a single one should get viral. The students who witnessed this are supposed to shut their mouth, don't you dare speak one word in front of the teachers or any other person. And if you do..." She trailed, her glaring eyes running through the crowd, "I will personally make sure that you regret it."
Some gulped and others watched her silently, not uttering a single word. They were scared, scored of the queen's anger
Soon, the students started to vanish from the place, one by one, everyone whispering things to each other.
That's when she turned around to look at her friends.
She saw both the guys trying to get out of their friend's grasp, their eyes thirsty for each other's blood. Max and Kyle held River whereas Justin, yes Justin with some other guys grapped Valentino from behind.
"Let's go before the principal gets here." Madeline said, running to River.
"Where's Zach?" Aubree walked up to them at last, worry visible in her eyes.
"He has gone to visit River's mother." Kyle answered as he looked at River.
"Get this bastard away from my eyes." River screamed.
He cursed under his breath, glaring at each and everyone that surrounded him.
At that time, he looked like a monster, a monster that everyone feared of, a monster that Faye feared of.
"Guys, let's take River to the nurse." Max sighed, loosing his grip on River by a little.
"I don't fucking need a nurse." He barked.
"You know what? You all take River, I am gonna go catch up with you all at lunch." And they all watched as Faye walked up to the other side of the wall, the wall where an unconscious Valentino was lying, supported by Justin and some of his fellow friends.
River watched as she laid a hand on Justin's shoulder. He watched as Justin turned around and grinned at her. He watched as she said something to him, the smile never leaving her face.
He fucking watched as she helped him and others to lift Valentino, guiding them to the nurse.
Heat evaporated through him, he was angry, damn angry.
