And in that time, no one was there for her, no one was there to save her from herself, from her thoughts, no one but him. And even if she loathed him, she knew that he's the only one who can save her.

"fucking am sorry River, I fucking am, why... why do they don't understand?" She sobbed, breaking down.

He listened to her, racking her back and forth, murmuring soothing words as she cried. Her head rested on his chest, his shirt whole ruined from those salty tears. He didn't care though. She, one way or another needed him.

"They were never good parents to us River, there's not a single time when they spend their time with me... they weren't there for Sumner and they are never here for me... they are fucking so so so selfish." She wrapped a handful of his shirt, forming a fist.

He didn't say anything, he knew that it was hard for her, too hard. His hands caressed her head, running through her blonde locks as she continued sobbing.

"They are parting their ways." And he listened, listened as she talked about her parents divorce.

"It had never came to this." That was the only thing that he said, his eyebrows knitted together. He had never liked Faye's parents, they were just too busy, the best in investing and building industries but the worst kind of parents.

"They are cheating on each other." And a bitter laugh escaped from her throat as she pulled herself out of his embrace. Standing up, she started to walk through the bookshelves, her eyes dark and red.

"You're looking broken, the Faye Lockwood who hates me and I am intended to know, never looks broken." At that, she whirled around to meet his hazel pair of eyes.

He was right, the queen never looks broken, never but... again, Faye did, Faye did look broken.

"Cause this girl whom you're looking at right now is pathetic, cause this girl over here knows how to feel, she's not the queen, shes just... Faye."

He walked up to her, wrapping his arms around her frame, he held her tightly.

Everything was quite for a while, there were just silent conversations, untold but yet answered questions.

But once again, they broke it, the understanding, the comfortable silence, the care, they both shredded them into pieces... they thought that it's, it's just too much, too good for them.

"When will Zach return?" She asked, releasing herself from his embrace.

"He left this morning, so seven maybe." He said, his eyes not showing a single emotion. There was no care now, no warmness on them, they were just, just empty.

"You broke up with Aubree, why?"

And he knew that the question will rise, that she will ask him about it.

She wanted to know cause she cared about her best friend. A friend who's mourning for River's love, his affection.

"Its none of your business, Lockwood." And the coldhearted, ruthless king was back.

"She's my friend and that makes it my business. God River, she likes you, she was so happy when you both had first started dating, but no, you dumbstruck buffoon, you douchebag, you just had to fucking ruin everything. She's crazy for you River, you know, she looks like shit now, fuck, she looks so broken and all this, you know, cause of whom? Cause of you." She shouted, anger splitting through her nerves.

"First, I am NOT a buffoon or whatever you said, fuck, you don't even know what happened. Just stop judging Faye, just stop making false assumptions, just stop blaming me. You don't know anything that happened between us."

There, there. Their isn't even a single meeting between them that goes without a fight.

"Then tell me Blake, tell me what happened between you both, why she keeps on crying, why she avoids you, just fucking tell me."

"I... I can't."

And then she scoffed, her lips forming a sly smirk, "Cause you know whos to blame."

"You know what, Lockwood? You never seem to believe that that's not my fault, then, why don't you ask her about it? I am sure, she will love to explain everything." And instead of her walking out of the room, he did.

"I am sorry Faye, they aren't letting me go." Kyle said from the other line, moaning.

"Looks like they are giving you a great time." She said, laughing as she entered the mansion and one of the servants opened the door for her.

"Oh, you don't have any idea." He said, sarcasm drifted in each and every word. She heard some noises in the other line and then, "Noo, don't touch that, shit, stop, mom is going to kill me." She laughed as Kyle kept on shouting.

"They broke the antique piece that mom had brought from India, she's going to kill me." Kyle cried.

"Go and clean the mess, I will talk to you later." Skipping two stairs at a time, she reached her room.

"Wo, I thought you will be there in my bad time, but here you are, leaving me."

"Seriously Kyle?"

"Okay, okay, sorry, I will meet you tomorrow." Laughing, she hung up.

Till then, she hadn't noticed her mother sitting in the king sized bed of her room.

"I think we should change the curtains." And she found herself looking at the red and white curtains of the room. Faye's whole room was based on the contrast of red and white. The floor was covered with a soft, silky white carpet, the love seats were both red and white and the bed was covered with a red duvet and white fluffy pillows. It was beautiful, her room was. The curtains hide the view of their beautifully maintained backyard that lead them to the woods. It's just fucking great.

Faye's room in one word screamed luxury. Yes, yes there was a walk in closet, a giant dresser, a corner dedicated to the memories that she had collected through all these years, a study table, a mini rack full of books and Xboxes, a flat screen television and a small coffee table.

"No, we aren't changing anything." The words came out harsher than Faye had intended them to be.

Silence drifted around them, an uncomfortable one. Faye hated them for never being there for her, for not being there for her sister when she needed them the most, when her sister needed their company, the support of the family.

"How much did you here?" A sigh escaped from Veronica's lips as she looked at Faye. She wasn't shock cause somewhere, even she knew that she isn't a good mother, that she never tried to be one.

Veronica Lockwood's mind revolved just around money, glamour and fame. Along with the fifty percent share of the company, she had her own fashion line and that's what she had ever dreamed of.

Agree or not, we girls as growing teens think about a lot of things, we even plan our wedding cards, think of acquiring a prince charming, think of getting a stable and a job that we would love to do, to be a mother of a kid or two and live happily ever after but Veronica? Veronica never had dreamed of love, of being a good mother. She had dreamed acquiring Lockwood industry, which she did.

"Up to you both fucking someone else behind your backs." Oops.

"Nothing else?"

"Yah, I heard that I am kind of a curse for you both. I mean, I can move out, ya know, you can always buy me an apartment or something, if not, you can just send me to grandma and grandpa, I will be more than happy to be there. See mother, I am NOT going to nudge you about anything like that, granpa and grandma are well off after all..." Her mom continued to look at her, not a single emotion visible on her face.

"Wait, you know what? Since am about to get done with high school by the next year, how about you try to put up with my presence or well, are you both going to split up as soon as possible? Her words stinked, her words made Veronica feel bad.

She met Faye's glaring eyes and a smirk made it's way towards her lips, she wasn't going to let Faye get her, "Just so that you know, you're going to be stuck with your father for these two years." And Faye's eyes narrowed by a fraction.

Hurt.

Her mother didn't care.

"At least it will be much better than sticking out with you." She scoffed.

Veronica had never played the role of a good mother in her life, God, she just had gave birth to Faye, other than that, she was just a vague part of her daughter's life.

She was not the one who taught her to walk, she was not there when Faye said her first words, she was not the one who had dropped her at school on her first day, she was not there in parents meetings, fuck, she was not even there when Sumner died.

Taking a deep breath, Veronica looked at Faye, "I... I am, I am going to leave for New York tonight." And she walked away.

That's when a tear fell, followed by millions of them.

She craved for that motherly love, love that Veronica refused to give her.
