When mom woke me up at half eleven in the morning, stating i had a visitor, i was fully expecting it to be Charlie, although he normally does just let himself in and sit with my mom until I've woken up, but i assumed this could be important.

I was not prepared to be greeted by my pink haired best friend, Brooklyn.

I squealed like a small child and rushed into her arms, wrapping myself around her like a koala and most likely cutting off her airways.

"What- and i can't stress this enough- the fuck are you doing here" i looked at her, peeling myself out of her embrace.

"Thought I'd come for a visit" she shrugged as if she hasn't travelled for hours, stepping into the seating area of the house, leaving her shoes at the door.

Mom made us both a coffee, and left us be as she tended to the garden.

"Imagine my shock, when i find out via text that you've been best pals with Charlie fucking king and his boys" she raises a questioning brow at me, giving her a sheepish smile in return.

" oh you know, causing chaos, the usual" i smirked.

"Chaos? Chaos?" She reiterated, "Charlie was in a fight and as cliche as it is, you was the only one who could get him to stop" she looked at me bewildered. "That's right, theres a video and I've seen it" she smirked after taking in my shocked face when she brought up the fight.

"Well i may have a little confession" i hold up my thumb and index finger, making a pinching shape to indicate the little part.

Brooklyn gave me a deadpan look, urging me to continue.

"Well, i um, i may have been like, maybe bestfriends with charlie from first grade?" I stuttered through the sentence, it sounded foreign to my own ears and i wouldn't blame her if she needed subtitles.

"You what?"

"I said, i may have been-" she cut me off from continuing. "I heard what you said, but how? Why? When?"

I launched into the story, starting with the incident in first grade, him protecting me throughout school, buying me smoothies, the birthday brownies, out of state trips which i had told her was me visiting family, and finishing with all the events from the past few months.

Including that yesterday's fight was because of Lucas saying some quite crude words about yours truly.

I won't lie, i did feel butterflies in my stomach when he said he was only defending me from, and I quote "the schools very own dumb and dumber"

"So you're telling me, that Charlie king has been your guardian angel all these years?" Brooklyn said, her eyes wide. "Wow, i think I'm a little jealous of your high school Romeo and Juliet love story"

"It is not a love story" i rolled my eyes and crossed my arms at her over exaggeration.

"You'll see" she smirks. "I think you two are perfect for one another, i mean you'd make the cutest babies and you two would just photograph so well together" she gushed, probably already planning Charlie and I's future wedding, that and she has an obsession with cute couples pictures on Pinterest.

"How's your new school?" I question her, she hasn't changed much during her time away, although i was positive she had grown an inch or two and her tan was deeper now.

"Its good actually, although theres this one teacher with uncontrollable anger issues and I promise you I'm not lying when i say this, he genuinely threw a chair at the wall."

"It's public school" i deadpanned "did you expect anything less?"

Apparently Brooklyn needed some new clothes, although I genuinely believe her reason for coming to the mall was more so about the "super cute guys" that chilled here and that they were apparently better looking than those at her near by mall.

So here we are, the mall.

I was only here because A, Brooklyn wanted to come and B, i want new socks.

I swear my moms incapable of doing laundry without losing at least two pairs of my socks.

"Can we get food? I was too excited to eat this morning" Brooklyn says, linking her arm with mine as we walk through the crowded mall.

So that's what we did, we made our way across the mall to a small diner, cafe type place that we'd come to at least once a week back in middle school and came to on her last day before moving, i haven't been here since.

We picked a booth in the far corner, away from most people although it wasn't too busy here regardless.

"Can we get what we used to get? For old times sake?" Brooklyn peered over the menu, although i know she wasn't even reading it.

"A chocolate milkshake for you, a diet pepsi for me, a chicken sandwich each and a sharing portion of fries?" I raise my eyebrow at her whilst reciting our order and putting my menu down at the same time.

A grin broke out on her face and she nodded eagerly, clearly we were both feeling nostalgic.

"What can i get you two?" A voice cut in, i turned to look at waiter and it was clear he was new, or had at least been employed since the last time we came because once upon a time, Brooklyn and I was on a name basis with every employee, including the cleaners.

"Hi yeah, can we get one chocolate milkshake, one diet pepsi, two chicken sandwiches and a sharing portion of fries" Brooklyn smiled at the cute waiter, clearly trying to catch his attention because he is a little bit cute, not on a Charlie level but he had sparkling brown eyes and tousled blonde hair with nice dimples.

"I hate to inform you but we've removed the chicken sandwiches from the menu" he smiled sheepishly.

"You what?" Brooklyn and i said in unison.

"You're kidding" i scoff at the blondie who's name tag read Sky.

That's pretty.

"I'm sor" Sky was cut off by the larger older lady with box dyed red hair shouting words of affection in our direction.

"Is that my little Brooklyn and Nyx?" She gushed, walking over to the three of us.

"Diana!" Brooklyn and I exclaimed, Brooklyn rushed out of her seat to give Diana a warm embrace, i followed suit but it was a little more awkward on my side.

"I haven't seen you two in forever" she gushed, "can i get you your usuals?" She offered,

"Yeah about that, blondie here" i jutted my head in Sky's direction "said that the chicken sandwiches have been taken off the menu" i huff and cross my arms although i was only feigning hurt.

"Nonsense! Anything for you two" she smiled. "Sky these were once upon a time our most loyal and kindest customers, treat them well" she nudges the boy. "I'll be off, I'll put your orders in darlings" and with that she left.

Brooklyn and i sat down after the reunion, Sky still standing by the table.

"Sorry about that" he had a blush creeping up on his face, cute.

"No worries" i waved off and smiled at him and i swear his blush deepened, but with that he left.

"He was so cute and totally into you" Brooklyn lent forward over the table.

"He was remotely cute, and definitely not into me" i rolled my eyes.

"He so was"

"Was not"

"Was too"

"Shut up" i giggled childishly at our behaviour, only to be cut in by Sky clearing his throat, holding a tray which held a chocolate milkshake and a talk glass of pepsi.

"Heres your drinks" Sky spoke, placing our drinks in front of us, we muttered our thanks and smiled whilst he hovered for a second before spinning on his heel and disappearing.

"Definitely into you" she winked.

"Shut the fuck up" i laughed. "So any new boys on the cards for you?" I questioned, sipping my pepsi through the paper straw.

Shortly after our food was delivered and we ate our way through the large quantity of food, which i was sure as hell I'd regret eating in a few hours. I caught Sky stealing a few glances towards our direction but i just assumed he was checking if we had finished eating or not.

"I shit you not, it was the funniest thing" I finish telling her the story of my fight with Scarlet and how the football team, except Lucas and Oliver were chanting my name the following day.

"You really have been living it up without me" she wipes a fake tear.

"Come on, you know its not like that Brook"

"Oh i know, I'm happy you've got other friends to have your back" she smiles at me, a genuine smile. "Although you did hide your teen-chaos friendship with arguably the most popular guy at school" she gives me a knowing look.

"Popular or infamous?" I question.

"Thats true, is everyone still afraid of him?"

"I mean, he knocked Lucas out cold the other day, so I'd assume so" i shrug, finishing my drink.

Brooklyn and I stack our dishes on one another and leave them at the end of the table for the waiter, Sky, to collect and soon enough he does.

"Can we get the bill please?" Brook asks him with a kind smile.

Moments later he back with a card machine ready to take payment, i slip my card into the reader and as I'm waiting for transaction to finish, Sky clears his throat, pulling my attention towards him.

"Um would you like to hang out?" He mumbles, looking rather shy.

"Like, now?" I question him in more of a confused manner.

"Uh yeah?, i finish my shift now and well you're super pretty so i just thought we could go out for a few hours? Thats if you want to of course"

I look to Brooklyn and she gives me a reassuring smile and a discreet thumbs up. Oh god.

"Sure why not" i shrug with a tight-lipped smile.

Don't make me regret this.
