《The times and struggle of a orc cook in the Demon Lord's army. (On Hiatus due to reasons seen in summary)》Chapter 2

I have no idea how long I stayed like that near the water, just looking at my new face in shock. But eventually I managed to finally wake up from it and just started to clean myself. The water was cold, barely knee deep and seems to be part of several small streams that lead to a bigger source of water somewhere. And this act let's me discover a few more things about my new body.

Like the fact I have a small tail that barely covers half my butt crack. And my nails are more claw like on both my hands and feet. My chest is a little strange as well, as theres a darker patch of skin there thats shaped like stars. And I also have no underwear as I had to take the dress off so I could clean it to the best of my ability. The dress is pretty simple really, being made from some soft wool or something and using a simple rope as a belt to hold it in place under my chest as theres no straps on it for my shoulders to hold the dress instead.

It's also a little raged and well worn too.

However I don't really dare to drink the water just yet. I'm no master survivalist nor an expert on water, but I know enough to about what type of water to drink or how to double check if it safe. Mainly thanks to my old nabor Paul, who used to be a ranger before he retiered and knew his way around the local forest and mountain range like the back of his hand. He was always eager for a few moments to talk and teach any of us young ones a few tricks incase we ever got lost on a hike or something.

However, the water is as safe as it looks. Crystal clear and running like a stream should. However I have a little new trick up my sleeve just to be sure.

"[Apprasial]" I say as I look at the water and feel something actived.

Fresh Stream Water

Fresh water from a stream, drinkable with no signs of parasites living in it or any tampering done to it.

I nod to as the box disappear, a small smile gracing my lips at the result. My first successful use of a skill.

This skill here is [Appraisal], the most have skill for any world travler worth their salt, or so some of my friends who reads a lot of novles and manga said. As well as one out of two rare skills I've chosen. All them always spoke how useful the skill is when used right and how it is a game changer, or a massive cheat as some of them said, to have in the early game. Among other things. It's actually thanks to those friends that I was not swayed to replace it with something else when the being told why the skill was rare to being with. And why it had been surpised that I took that skill without hesitation when I saw it.

See, unlike most novles, manga and the like, [Appraisal] don't have the best reputation nor is it a very popular skill in the world I was going to live in from now on. This is mainly thanks to all the drawbacks that [Appraisal] has that makes it rather difficult to use or level up.

Like the fact that unilke most skills [Appraisal] belongs to a small group of skills that dose not have a evolution or fuse into a skill or three thats more powerful than it was before. Usually this means by either reaching their max level or managing to reach certain requirements like getting certain types of skill to fuse it with after reaching a certain level in each to do it. Or just gather a certain number of skills regadless of level to fuse into something else.

Which makes [Appraisal] a bit boring. But it's a skill that most should be happy about that they don't need to agonize what you want your skill to become specialized in or what is a big plus in anyones book. At least in this wolrd it is.

And [Appraisal] has a max level of 10. So it should not be a problem to level it up right? Wrong. Heres problem number 1, by belonging to this small group of skill, it's also way harder to level up than your average sword or tailor skill. What takes less then 100 exp to level up one of the most commen skills at least level 2, or maybe even 3 as some skills are easier to level up than others, takes [Appraisal] almost 700 exp to level up once. And instead of double the exp needed for the next level up like most skill will do regaless of their rarity at the worse, [Appraisal] triple or quadruple it.

And thats only half the reasons most don't want to take it. The other half is that this skill is more suited for the long term than the short term. At level 1 the best you can hope for when using it on a object or living creature is the name of the things and thats it. With the exeption on things like drinkable water or if it's something your going to eat. Then it will at least tell that it will not be a good idea to do so. Oh sure, it won't tell what's wrong with the water or the food, epsicelly if said cause is at a much higher level then the skill or the user. But at least you will be able to know if it is safe to eat or drink at all.

Oh yeah, thats another thing as well that makes people even less willing to take the skill. If the object or creature is 5 or more than your own level or rank it will fail and then your deal with the painful headache afterward thanks to said fail. Luckly though, as you level up the skill not only will the headache slowly get less painful and eventually disappear, but you get more information on what your using the skills on. You just got to be very patient with this skill.

All of this makes [Appraisal] a less then desired skill. And the worst part was that the skill did not have most of this things when it was first made! It only had the problem of being hard to level up at first. But as time went on and more than a fair share of people began to abuse the skill and use it for things that made the gods less then pleased. And almost destroyed the world once, more and more things where added to make it both harder to use and make sure people like that would not bother to take it.

Or at least ones that are a lot more lazy or just don't want to put in the effort on a skill that can take a lifetime to level up.

So yeah. [Appraisal] is not a skill for most people. Good thing then I'm not like most people. I don't mind if it will take years for it to be level 5 or all my life to get it to level up just once or twice. I find that just by even having it, I'll know what to stay the hell away from if I ever get the ????? marks that will show up when I fail to appraise something.

Though I could do without the headache.

And as I start to drink until my throat feels less like sand and more like a normal throat should, I use [Appraisal] on anything near me. I got a lot names that just said rocks, stones, bushes, saplings and stuff like that. With the occasional Though Branch found here and that the things are useful for a fire oddly enough. Or I was just lucky with my skill. Along with something called Herbal Flowers near a large oak three and the strange blue water lilly like plant that was in the middle of the stream by the name Mana Riverbloom.

It dose not take a genius to guess that those last two are most like magic related and used for things like alchemy, healing or potion brewing. Maybe even enchanting stuff too.

Though I got names like Bitterleafs, Wild Beanstems, Brown Mushrooms, Honeysuckle and a few more coming up too. All of them are edible and helped easy my unease that I might starve out here in the middle of the woods. I also got the names of some of the critters too. Mostly normal rabbits and squirrels that dared to be near me. And the one odd fox that left me well alone as it was too busy hunting for food. Along with many insects and the like.

Using my skill like this will most defently give it a good start on the exp bar no doubt. But after a short while of this, and me just sitting beside the water and thinking of what I was going to do now, I heard a voice inside my head.

(Ah, there you are little one.)

"Hello? Whos this?"

(Down by the flowers to your right.)

And thats when I meet my guide, a blue butterfly and glowing just enough for me to see it. How did I know this was my guide? It was that odd weird feeling thing at play again that just told me.

A small giggle came from it before it spoke again. (Not what you expected huh?)

"Not really? I'm not really sure what to expect to be honest."

(Fair enough. Well, I don't ususally take this form either. Normally I will take the form of a wolf or some bird to be of a lot more use to those I'm going to guide. However, your rebirth is a....special case and unfortunately we don't have a lot of time on our hands at the moment. So I had to get to you rahter quickly)

"What do you mean?" I say as I quickly stand up.

(I'll tell you as we walk. Right now, we need to get away for here fast, and find a good shelter. And I know just the place that will work.)

And thats how my first adventure started. As I followed my guide, they began to explain whats going on. Turns out theres a storm coming our way and it ain't pretty. And if what my guide said is true, it's man made. Sort of. It's actually a magical side effect after some idiot mage or shamen fucked up some sort of weather spell. Or three.

My guide did not know which of those two it was, but safe to say they are not happy about it regadless who did it. A normal storm is bad enough with all the power mother nature can and will use as she pleases. But a magical one takes it up a few steps, and not a single one of those are the good kind. And this one promise to be bad. What kind of bad? We don't know but we are not staying to find out.

The only good thing about the storm though is that it's a few days away from starting. So I have at least some time to prepare, which is good in my book as the place we are going to is a good 10 hours away from where I woke up. And on the way, my guide had me use my other rare skill.

Let me introduce you all to the [Storage] skill, or the inventory skill as some might call it. Another must have for world travlers and reincarnated persons. I might not need to tell you all that it let's me store a lot of things and stops time so nothing rots or degrade as time goes by. It's also a skill one can only be gain by being born with it, which very few are and thuse makes it rare to have. What I do need to tell you though is it those not have endless space to store things.

At least in the beginning.

Let me explain. It works kind of like a mix between Minecraft's and Stardew Valley's inventory systems. Currently I have 75 slots, for lack of better words, at my disposal that can only hold one item each. Though theres no know limit yet on how much I can have of the same item. My guide says that that limit is different for everyone who has this skill, so it's a wait and see on how many rock I can carry.

Literally. I've been picking up rocks whenever I can, both to see where the limit is and because my guide said I was going to need them to build both a small firepit to help me keep warm and to cook my food, and to make some simple but crude tools to help me survive. And while I only have 75 slots, it's possible for me to 'upgrade' my [Storage] skill later on as it dose not evolve or fuse like most skills those. Though my guide has told me that that explanation most come later as we had much more importent things to do.

Rocks aren't the only things I've been putting in my [Storage] throughout the walk. I've picked up any flint I've managed to fine, mostly so I can get a fire started. Sticks and branches so the fire has fule and the tools I need have handles. I've found some vines called Creeper's Vine, which are a good substitute when one dose not have any rope on hand to use for clmbing and making tools. Or so my guide tells me. A lot of different plants, both magical and non-magical for me to use has also been gathered.

Some of it is for me to have something to eat. Like the berries, beanstems, musrooms and other wild plant life thats commen to see this time of the year, which is spring. I've found a lot of spring onions, leeks, beets, potatoes and some garlic too. Just to name a few. I did not even know half of these could be found in the wild. They even got the word wild on them to show how different they are from those gotten from the farms.

Aside form the fact that all of them are just a little smaller and sometimes heavier than their more domesticated counterparts.

As for normal-ish herbs I've gather dandelion, chickweed, miner's lettuce, fiddlehead ferns, wild asparagus, sage, rosemary and almost a dozen others. It looks like I'll be having many salads as my meals for while.

But I'm not gonna complain about it too much. Food is still food regadless of what world I live in and I'm gald I'll at least be able to eat for a few days. My guide is more than willing to teach a few dishes other than salads with what I managed to get. And have promised to help me find a way to get some meat ones I'm better equipped and we are not threatened by having a storm on our heels.

I've also gathered some of the Mana Riverblooms and Herbal Flowers. Along with a few other magical plants like Knig's Rosemary, Wolf Bite and Inkberry (it only has that name thanks to it's inky black colour). All of these and some more are used in many remedies, potion making and alchemy.

Which my guide is very insisten that they teach me a few on the remedies. All of them are the easy and very commen herbal remedies that even fools and idiots can make even without tools to cure themself of colds and the like. Sickness here is far more commen here then on modern Earth, mainly thanks to the fact that this era is in the middle ages. Or at least when the both of us compare with Earth's timelines and technology. And what I can remember from Earth's history. I was never good at that subject back in school.

Though my guide warned me that thanks to magic, this place a bit more advance in certain areas that Earth have the past millennia.

I'll also be taught how to make even a basic healing potion and some pills to help against status effects like posion or paralyze by making my own rather crude mortar and pestle. And if I'm lucky enough to find or earn some money, I'll need get a good pot or something to use a my cauldron dedicated to potion brewing and other alchemy stuff alone to make better stuff or if I want to learn more potions and the like.

And some of the plants that I've gathered are for my sleeping bag/bed and other things. Like a basket made out of reeds to store things in. Why do I need a basket when I have [Storage] to use? Well it's mainly to use it as a cover when I use [Storage]. Remeber how I told you that it's a skill one can only be born with and very few are thanks to this?

The reasons for this is that the gods are well aware that this skill can be dangerous for a mortal soul. Why? Because this skill needs to be tied to the soul to stay stable for it to work on mortals, and if something or someone messes with that it can go really wrong fast. So the gods rarely allow mortals to have it. I won't have such a big problem thanks to the changes my soul went through in that in between place have made it different from a normal mortal soul. Making it a lot more, well, sturdier and harder to damage. It's also has changed enough that Soul Magic, a very dangerous and forbidden type of magic, will have a harder time taking any effect on me should someone ever want to try.

So I got a free pass and got it with little problems. Though the gods have put up a watch of sort to keep an eye on my soul and see if there are any side effects that they don't know of. None in any familiare situation like mine has ever taken the skill before so they are a bit wary of the what ifs.

As long as none of those watcher tries to convort me by force or what not by messing with my soul while looking at it or something, I'm fine with it. That was the one thing I made sure that I will not allow. The being before me made sure the gods honored that part of the deal. It may not be as powerful as others of it's kin, but it still ranked a lot higher than the most gods that lives in this world. Which is good enough for me.

Anyways. Aside form all that, this skill is really useful from the start and the 'upgrades' that allows it to expand even further and the fact that few are born with it makes it a valuable thing for a certain 'profession' that specialized in taking other peoples skills to get their hands on. And by taking I mean using some method or ritual that often kills the original owner as the skill is transferred to a special book appropriately called a Skill Book. And then sell the Skill Book to the highest bidder with little moral problems. If not use the book on themself if they want the skill too.

So yeah, I'm not going to risk my life by using [Storage] out in the open and among people. And I do have some uses for the basket anyways as it will be carring my crude survival tools and other stuff that only the poor will be willing to steal from a orphaned little girl from nowhere. Becasue that is what I am to this world due to my rebirth. I'm going to be making extra anyways of those crude tools as they won't last long, so it's not like I will be loosing anything valubale.

And if I've gather enough reeds, I'll be making more baskets to store things like the beans, vegetables, herbs, rocks and other things to keep it a bit more organized in [Storage]. It's a bit of a mess in there to be honest and I could use something to keep it a bit neater in there. Though how my guide is going to teach me all of this to give me a better chance at survival I have no idea.

It's going to be interesting to see though. Thats for sure.

Oh and thanks to all the stuff I've gathered and the long walk to this shelter, I've earned the [Gather], [Forage] and [Hiking] skills. All of which made the journey easier and let me find and gather stuff quicker.

( Ah, here we are my friend.) The guide says as we stop what had to ones be a settlement of some kind that used the mountain behind it for something. Though all thats left are a few stone buidlings seen better days, a handful of houses that still standing and made of wood thats more than half rotten and several caves in the mountain wall behind the houses. Plant life have taken over most of the place, though I can see a few well worn paths still clinging to life.

As well as one giant tree growing out of what most have been the town hall or some other importent building once upon a time. There also the fact that said building is also in the center of this place too, so that gave a away that it was improtent for something.

Theres also a small lake or pond with a river going through it just near what was ones a simple stonefence that have it's fair share of moss covering it and weeds aplenty. As well as more than one part missing stones or had rightout fallen to pieces. Leaving behind several large hole that anyone could cross with ease.

(Now, shall we get started?)

It's now been a week since I came to this world. And things have gotten better. Mostly. I'm currently living in one of the caves in the mountain, some of which most have been used as housing of some sort once upon a time. Among other occupations. One of the caves was defently used as a mining area. It is also one out of a few caves that is still livable to some extend. Some of the other caves have caved in to the point that they aren't accessible or theres a very weird smell that reminds me of rotten meat coming out of them. One I did not even dare go anywhere near becasue I saw a small forest of mushrooms coming out of it and my guide was refused to go anywhere near the cave too. So that one was a no brainer.

And then there was the one thats mostly flooded with some strange glowing water that bubble like a hot pot.

A couple of the caves even had bones scattered around in a mess inside them, many of which seems to belong many kinds of animals when I took a look inside. There are also clear signs that other people have been here before me and most likely used some of the caves too as shelter. As well as raided for what little worth was left in there a long time ago.

But left a few items I'm more than happy to take for my own use.

And raiding the houses that are still standing too. There was very little stuff left I was able to find that was still somewhat useable. And using any of the houses that was here was not a viable option either. Theres too little left that it would have taken days or weeks for me to make a good enough shelter to survive a simple rainshower. Much less a magic storm that was bound to have a few odd quirks up it's sleeve.

This cave is one of few that shows no sign of anything done to it since the time it was abandoned. Aside form a lot of dust and many wooden items and furniture have longs since rotten to be of no use, theres very litte for me to clean or get rid of.

I think it's mostly because the path to this one and the others looks more than a little unsafe to use and the fact that some of it has collapsed thanks to weather and time makes it harder to get to it. Theres even some rope bridges that allows one to go form one cave to the other up here, but they look more than a little worn and I'm not willing to try put my foot anytime soon on any of them.

Oh and all of these untouched caves are at much higher level then the others, so theres a good climb thats less then ideal for anything large to try if they don't want to try the path. This is the only other option unless you got wings to fly up here. All in all, these caves are hard to reach and makes most people and animals unwilling to try. Which makes the caves a perfect place for me to live in. Yes, the climb is a real bitch and more than a few times I've almost fallen to my death. But the protection it offers me from being so high and out of reach makes up for the danger in getting up there.

And as a nice bonus, it gives a view that lets me spot anything that comes near the ruined settelment. Or at least half of the ruins and near the caves. The gaint tree blocks a good bit of the view, but I can live with that.

Theres also several bird nests with eggs ready for the taken up here. My guide has been a big help in that they are able to tell which eggs have little chicks in them or not thanks to some spell they use. Which I'm very happy about as I don't want to take the ones with babies inside them. Thats just wrong. And [Appraisal] has been great at telling me which of the non-vialbe eggs have gone bad when I'm out and harvesting them.

Now if only I had some bacon and a good cup of coffee for my eggs and salad I'd be a happy little Orc.

Yes, I said Orc. You know those 7 to 8 foot tall green skinned humanoids with black hair, fantasy monsters that can give a Minotaur a run for their money in muscle mass alone? At least when you compare the males. And are also know to be fond of war and lives in tribal like lifestyle in most games, movies, novels and so on?

Thats my new race. Except for green skin and black hair I'm white all over with crystal clear blue eyes. No, I'm not some Light or Holy elemental variant, I just have albinism. With no special powers by being a albino. I only have the drawbacks that comes with it. Which means I got to be careful when in the sun, as both my eyes and skin can't tolerate it as good as those without albinism.

Not to mention that thanks to magic, my sight will get worst and my skin will start to bleed if I'm under the sun for too long. And some of it can become permanent too if it happens too often.

They only reason I did not have such problems with the sun from the beginning is thanks to the trees. There are enough of them in this forest that theres good cover for me to avoid most of the sun, but still bright enough that a good deal plant life can thrive with little problem.

At least I don't have to worry about that I'll start combust while in the sun like any of the weaker undead would, since theres a big difference with being born with a mutation that makes you less protected from the sun and being something that should stay six feet under. Or so my guide has told me.

Small blessings I guess.

Though I am worried how bad my eye sight is going to be affected ones I have no choice but to walk in the sun. Or how bad my skin burns are going to get. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a good cloak with a hood or something. Or maybe craft one if I have the tools and needed materials.

Oh and I even got a Title for being the first Orc to ever be born with albinism. How do I know this? Let me show you.

Ta-da! My very own Status Menu and I must say with a little bit of pride that it is not bad. Sure, I could do with a bit more MP than what I currently have but according to Roro my MP is currently limited due to a few reasons thats out of my control.

Whos Roro? Why the nickname I gave to my guide so I had something to call them other than 'guide' all the time. Roro those have a name of their own, however it's in a tongue that no mortal can say or read. So a nickname was needed. The name is actually based on the fact that 'r' and 'o' was two of the most used letters that my guide has in their name, so I went with something simple and a little childish to be honest as I wasn't sure where to begin.

They actually like that the name, much to my surprise. Apperantly before Roro got assigned to me, it had just been a couple of months since they left their previous ward who had given them a less then pleasing nickname to go by. And my poor giude had to use that nickname for a long time, if I were to guess.

I think I choose wisely by not asking what that nickname was, I could just feel the hate and pure disdain coming of my guide as they thought back on that assignment. Some things are just not worth asking about, and I'm not willing to get on my guide's bad side by bringing up unpleasant memories.

Anyways, back on track. Roro was not able to tell me most of these reaons, mainly thanks to the fact that there are laws my guide has to follow and is only allowed to break them in an emergency. What they were able to tell though was that the gods long ago put some sort of special system to protect the sentient children from dieing of severe Mana Poisoning and unwanted mutation thanks to taking in too much or little mana by accident.

This protection involves sealing most of ones natural mana abilities, aside from those few needed for the body to function right, until something called a Mana Core is properly formed. Whats a Mana Core? One of the most imprortent things all living and non-living things needs to survive. This world is choke full of mana and if you don't have a fully formed and functioning Mana Core, your in some deep trouble for the rest of your life.

Normal animals have these cores to, but they are somehow dormant and won't 'wake up' unless a strong wave of mana comes washing over them or they eat something that gives a lot of mana over a long period of time. Then they turn to something called Magical Beast or Monsters.

Or so I understood it. And Mana Cores are also what allows one to learn magic and special combat arts. Along with being the main thing that allows you to store mana in your body and helps you evolve if thats an option for your race.

However, babies and children don't have Mana Cores, at least not yet. It depends mainly on what your race is, but Mana Cores don't start forming until at least the physical age of 5. And is fully functional somewhere between the age of 12 to 18, physically speaking. So if your an elf, dragon, deamon or belong to some other race that have some of the longest lifespans and very slow growth spurts, it will take centuries at best before you got a fully formed core.

I'm no exception to this either. I may have been a 25 year old woman back on Earth, but here I'm a 12 year old little Orc girl. And so the system has taken me under it's protection as well. And with good reasons. Even if this body is custom made to make me able to live in this world, it those not mean I have a functional core ready to turn me into a mage.

At least I don't have to wait until I'm like 250 years old for a Mana Core to fully form. Orcs have a rather long lifespan, much longer than I think most people back on Earth would be willing to give a Orc. We can live up to 300 or 500 years without evolving into a High Orc or something more powerful. Which means we live as long as Dwarfs, Gnomes, Trolls, certian sub-types of Beastfolk and others.

This those not mean I can't do any magic though. Appearently a mage from a few ages past invented a type of magic call Neutral Magic that allows even those without a formed core to use what little mana they have to do something. This magic has no attack or defence spells though as those are too dangerous to use without a core.

What it those have are spells used to summon these little creatures called Sprits that will do our bidding for about a day before vanishing. They are little mana spirit creatures that depending on what spell you use to summon them, you can get several Sprits and even give them a element to.

All though, non of these elemental versons are strong. Sprits are to put in simple words the newborns of the Spirit world and are thuse the weakest of them all. Even with a elemental boost, they can't do more harm than a slight scrath or a bruise. However that what makes them perfect for this magic. They don't really need a lot of mana to be summoned, a single point can even gift you five of the buggers if your lucky.

But most importently they are easy to control and are by nature harmless. Which was anotehr key reasons that it spread into the common life as well. Everyday life easier than it should have in this world thanks to the little buggers. From lighting the fire in your oven to garden work or evne help cleaning the house, it's a commen and accepted practice to see. It is also pretty much the most basic type of magic every mage to be learn to earn the basic skills in both mana and magic control. Which is needed if you want to get any sort of mage class.

So in sort, this type of magic is so commenly used that none will bat an eye seeing me with a little Fire Sprit to use as a light source when it gets dark. Unless I'm near some building that has very flammable stuff inside it.

Roro will be teaching me this magic ones the both of us aren't busy anymore. The two of us have a lot to get done before we leave this place.

Why are we leaving? The storm finally hit on day five and it's killing everything it touches. I'm not joking here. The rain is some sort of sickly acidic poison, infused with lightning and thunder. This already kills the wild life and plants with little problems but then there are winds that almost breaks the already weaked and damaged trees. And I know that a few have already snapped and landed on the ground with a loud crash.

It's not safe here anymore. And ones the storm ends it's going to take years before anything start living again. If ever. Anything from the soil to the water around here is going to be contaminated with all sort of nasty stuff thanks to this blasted magic storm. This means I'm unable to harvest what I need, both in crafting materials and food and water. And the last two is what I'm having less and less of every day as the storm has not stopped yet.

And if Roro is right, it will last a few days more. Lucky I just have enough food to hopefully last me long enough for the storm to die out and until we get to a place were I'll be able to harvest more. I've been a bit lucky though when it comes to food. One of the houses used to be a farm or at least had a big vegetable garden that has been growing all sort of stuff for me to harvest.

I even manage to catch me some fish the day before the storm hit. They are not that big and I managed to catch only a few, but now I got some fish to cook for dinner after we leave this place.

Water though is an issue. I can't store water inside [Storage] without some sort of container and I can't weave a basket the way I need to make it able to store water either. My [Weaving] skill is only level 3 and the best I can make are a shoddy but decent enough basket that is able to handle some wight without tearing itself apart.

Lucky for me, I found something else that works. In one of the stone houses there were two still intact cauldrons that have somehow avoided becoming rusted metal scraps. I took and cleaned them out to the best of my ability and I'm using the biggest one as my water container. Thanks to this I got at least a week's worth of water in [Storage]. But it's not enough.

The smaller one is used to make my soup and stews. I've yet to do any potion making though. Me and Roro decided it was more importent that I had a way to cook my food, and have a way to store clean water do both drink and cook with when something like this happens. And keep me somewhat clean too if possible. I've managed to make my mortar and pestle though, so I can at least make the pills and some ointments that will ease some of Roro's worries.

Anyways, so moving day happens as soon as we get everything ready and the storm has past. Which means I'm a bit on a crafting spree at the moment to prepare a few extra things I will need.

I already have most things ready though. I have my crude stone tools mostly finished. A stone axe, a few stone knife to both protect myself and perpare my food. As well as skin any normal animal that no bigger or tougher than a rabbit. I also have made some stone bowls as well, thansk to finding stone just the right size and thickness for it to work. Two of the bowls I'm only using to eat from, while the rest will hold my pills and ointments I'll have to make later with my mortar and pestle.

I'll be making some more stone bowls later on if I find more stone suited for that. I want to have extra incase I need to make more pills of a different type or store small things like berries and the like.

Oh and I found this really sturdy bone in one of the caves that will work as a good club. I just need to clean it a little and get used to it's wight a bit more for it all to be good. I also found a few bone pieces that Roro tells will be fine to use as sewing neddles, ones I manage to make a hole and sharpen them a bit.

And find some thread and cloth to start sewing.

All I need now is to make a spear for some ranged attacks and sharpen some rocks so they can do some more damage when I throw them as ammo with my [Throw] and [Aim] skills. My [Improvised Tool Craft] skill would most likely like the exp from crafing those.

Ones that done I'll need to work on some of my other craft related skills. [Weaving], [Survival Craft], [Handyman] and [Craving] all needs to level up at least one more time before Roro will teach me how to make a stretcher like tent of sort used by some weird race called Wildlings that acts like a bit like hippies in tempermant thats gone through hardcore survival from hell in a jungle. And looks like a gobling thats mated with a plant creature from an occult horror game.

I don't know how that makes any sense but that was how Roro describe them when I asked. And this stretcher/tent thing is the best option I have for a proper shelter that will shield me from the normal elements and weather for most of the year with what I have on hand. As well as being easy to set and pack up on the go, and easy to carry to.

So at the moment I'm crafting the spear and picking out the rocks I need to sharpen. For both the ammo and for my spear. After that I'm going to make some more baskets, small ones that easier to make then the one I have to carry on my back that I've yet to make. Roro won't allow me to make the bigger one that I'll need on my journey just yet. Saying I need to do practice a bit more on how to build a basket, even a simple one, a bit more before I try something bigger.

And using reeds instead of grass as the material. Yes, I'm making small shoddy grass baskets. Most of them ends up as failures and just collapse on themself as soon as I let go. But my [Weaving] skill gains exp regadless if I succeed or not. And it becomes a little easier to remember what I need to do to make it work each time I have to start again.

Beside, I'm not using normal grass for this. This grass is called Weaving Grass and it got it's name for a reason. It looks like any other typical grass found in your average lawn. Except it's almost two meters tall, it blads are thick enough that you need a sharp rock or a decent pair of scissors to cut it, and grows in big clusters they should be something seen in games and used to hide the game character to g for the stealth kill option.

You can also find this stuff almost everywhere in this world, aside for extrem cold or warm areas. Like the high mountains and desert. Or areas where theres large amount of a nasty type of mana called Miasma. Only undead things can thrive on that stuff. And strangly enough, it kinda feels like touching wool. And has a faint smell of roses.

Yeah not gonna lie, I'm very confused by this plant. And it's not even the strangest magical plant I have come across that Roro has explained to me.

But the reason it got the name is thanks to the fact that all beginner Weavers and Tailors use this stuff to learn their trade. Weaving Grass is a strange magical mutant plant that is used for a lot of different things. From baskets and ropes to even making simple blankets or shoes, making it one of the most used materials used by both the poor, common and tribale people alike.

It's also easy to use and surprisingly durable even when one dose not process it into a weaving thread used to make heavy duty ropes for large shipments and beast. Or make a type undershrt that soldiers swear under their armor/uniform. Not that I will be able to make this type of thread anytime soon, I have neither the skills, classes, stats, experience, equipment and materials needed to make it at all.

Nor the interest to do it.

A large boom could be heard from the entrance, making me jolt enough I end up throwing the rock I was going to use as the spearhead right into the wall, and shatter as soon as the rock meet the wall. I let out a sigh, a few grumbled chosen words about thunder and lightning, and takes out another rock out of [Storage] and start anew.

This was going to be another long day.
