《The times and struggle of a orc cook in the Demon Lord's army. (On Hiatus due to reasons seen in summary)》Chapter 1

I still remember that small little flat that have seen better days years ago. Maybe even decades since a lot of the walls had small cracks on them, and there was this one small dark brown spot I was never able to wash or paint away. But at least the place was mine, kept me warm, dry and kept the cold rain and winter away from me.
It had some rather ratty half bleached curtians on the windows that will not stop hauling or rattle when the wind got too strong. But I never minded that or the strange smell that most be from the previous owners being potheads. I was just glad that I had a roof of over my head and a warm bed to sleep in. And a place for me to cook, rather very cheap and not very healthy meals, to my hearts content. It was home. Until it wasn't and I wasn't human anymore.
It was like waking up from a dream I never really wanted to wake up from when I opened up my eyes for the first time in a whole new world. How did I know that? Well the first thing I saw was the dark green humanoid being that was smiling at me with two large tusks from the large underjaw they have, long messy black hair almost masked the persons yellow eyes that looked at me with nothing but love. Scars both big and small could be seen spread around the face, with the biggest one going from the right side of the cheek to the left eyebrow. I could also see blue tattots or face paint as well on the face.
A necless with small bits of bones and a pretty drak blue stone adored the beings neck. I have no idea what was under the fur blanket that was covering the rest of the person before me, who I realized was holding me in a bundle of cloth, in the crook of the arm that seems to be made of pure muscle. A word came to my mind pretty quick once I started to see a resemblems of a creature a friend of mine had obsessed with for a long time, Orc, as I tried, and failed, to stay calm. Small mewling sounds escapes my mouth. And I can feel my body beings to move ever so slightly in the cloth I'm in, rather weakly.
" Welcome to the world little one." came the surprising feminine voice out from the being that was a little gruff and a little tried. The woman(?) certianly looked tried. " Welcome my first daughter. Oh how I've longed to meet you." As the woman continue to talk another Orc comes and stand beside the two of us. One that looked a lot like the Orc woman before me but with a light/brown mud like colour to their skin, much larger tusks, the eyes being red and their hair black as well, tied into a pony tail.
There was even more scars and red face tattots/paint on this one as well. Infact they seems to have it on all skin that was bare, save the hands. The face pain I mean, though there are quite a lot of scares as well on them. They are also wearing something that seems to have been made form some sort of animal as a cape, with bits of iron here and there to add more protection on the leather around the arms and upper body, and they were wearing a kilt as well. This one as well was looking at me with the same smile and loving look as the woman that was holdling me have. Oh and did I mention that they are also freakishly tall as well? Yeah, this one is easily over 8ft.

Before things could even get worse, or even more scary and confusing, a blue box suddenly came up infront of me, saying all to brightly.

Yeah no, I ain't dealing with this. I screamed then and there as every emotion just became a mess and I still had no idea how to react to anything at this point. And much to my surprise neither of the Orcs before be seems to mind as the woman starts to softly hum and rocking me into some calm. And it worked. Eventually, as the calm movement and the hum slowly lulls me to sleep. When did I become so tried? And the mess my own emotions have become seems to die as I slowly slumber on. Welcoming the darkness as a save haven to this all. *This has to be a dream. A nightmare.* was the last thoughts that left my mind at that point.
" It's MY turn to hold her you dimwit!"
" NO MINE! You got to hold her the whole time father had to go talk to the elders and mother was still sleeping! It's my turn now!"
" You guys, stop it! Your both going to wake up mother at this point!"
"SHUT UP!!" CRASH! BANG! "DARAK! MALAK! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU TWO DO NOW?!" "SORRY FATHER!" "IT'S HIS FAULT!"
It has been a few days since I woke up to this strange new world and already this have become a normal scene for me to wake up to. Two out of three very young male Orcs that share my fathers skin colour, and I'm wildly guessing their ages are somewhere around 8, fighting over who gets to hold me this time once again. Loudly and managed to once again make a mess of things in our home.
Who are these three boys you might ask? Why three of my four older brother of course! Yey! Siblings, and two of them are aldready knockleheads before they are even 10. Joy. Feeling the want to just shake my head at it all. But decide against for it was not worth my time, I instead to make the third brother of mine know that I've woken up instead, by making all the little noice I could make with my very much underdeveloped vocal cords.
" Oh sister, are you awake? Did dose idiots wake you up again?" says the middle oldest of the three to me, his name Tarr if I remember right. He was proven to be my favorit brother already by just being a lot more grown up then Darak and Malak was and smarter by a mile as far as I was concerned.
Tarr is far more careful around me and mother who is still very much recovering from the difficult birth I've have been. From what I was able to overhear from the elder healer who visited as soon as she heard I was awake to check on me and mother, I'm one of many of these difficult births they have had over the last few years now.
And one of the lucky few to survive said births. Normaly Orc mothers only takes a couple of days to recover before they are out and about the duties given to them while having newborns or jobs should her children be old enough to look after themself for a few hours without having to worry whether or not they where trying to kill themself.

But from what I could only understand was do to with worry and a agreement among all the healers and elders, mother is on strict bed rest for at least 2 weeks just to be sure nothing is wrong. Like all the others have been as well every since some of the mothers died from the birth themself soon after. It was why father was home at the moment and why my eldest brother Thai was not.
Father was supposed to be on a big hunt with brother Thai and many other hunters for a long time, but when they found out that I was going to be born a few weeks earlier than expected, he had to stay to make sure everything was going to be okay and help the family.
As well as help mother recover both physically and emotionally should I not survive the birth at all. It's something I try not to think too much about as soon as Tarr picks me up from the basket thats currently being used as my bed and I see father holding both of my other brothers by their ears and dragging them to another room. Most likely to scream at them without waking mother up.
" Lets go and play shall we sister? Before one of the healers comes for you and mother." Tarr says like his brothers new peril is not something for him to care about at the moment. * Sure Tarr, lets play.* I can't help but think sarcastically, while willing my eyes to not roll, as he walks to another room farther away from the yelling that have started to come from the room father took our brothers to. It was what I've come to call the 'living' room as things that acted like couches and chairs, along with a long table able to fit everyone but me at the moment.
A giant fur carpet sprad around the middle of the room, and a few smaller once around small areas that had things like clay pots, a weaver like thing in one corner of the room and other bit of odd ends I could not name. There are also some boxes around the place as well, some holding furs, wood, bones, coal and other materials. While others I had no idea as they are locked tight with both a simple iron lock and rope.
With a big fireplace used both for cooking and keeping the home warm to the left side of the place had been craved out finishing the room. Oh did I mention that our home is a cave? Yeah we have it pretty great as there are not many that could have a cave as their home. Mainly thanks to the fact that the clan leader only gave them to great hunters like mother and father or healers that needed a nice, big, quite and secure place to make their medicine, tonics, powders, dry their herbs and whatever else they make for the clan.
And the fact that few places could be turned to a cave home in the first place as we all live in a forest thats far from many mountians. Except the one of the few small once that are still in the forest and barely showes even at a distant. And that our clan have used as a home for centuries. How do I know this? Father have been telling me stories whenever he can, many of which are great tales about our clan and our ancestors. And the world around us. They are all really good and are great bedtime stories, if I ignore all the blood and gore from some of the more violent ones.
" Alright sister lets see. What can we play with today?" Tarr says to himself as he looks down a wooden box sett aside and far from the fireplace to avoid said box and its contents catch fire. It was the toybox for us kids that have all of our toys in there, which are mostly made of wood and leather of course. Still holding me, though with only one arm as he uses the other to look through of what we have to play with. And what he could use to play with me to some degree. Though I don't pay much attention to him at the moment or whats in the box as once again I see a familiare blue box comes up my vision.
Welcome to the world of Miria recarnated one!

Yes/No
With a slight thought the blue box shrinks and hides itslef in the corner of my vision, glowing just enough to show it was there waiting but not enough that it would hurt my vision or distract me. A little trick I found when I tried many times to get the box away from my face when on more than one occasion it would pop-up from nowhere. It also appears at least once every day now, every since I woke up from what I believed to be a nightmare of Orcs calling me daughter and seeing said blue box, only to find the hard trurth of the matter.
That I have somehow died back on Earth and been reborn as a Orc. Though lucky for me, the box only shows up whenever, I believe so far, it sense that somewhere in my mind I want to see it. I've have yet to read it though, as I have spent these last few days to get a grip on my reality.
And actually build up the courage to read the damn thing. I don't know why but I get the feeling I'm not going to like whatever was on this 'message'. That being said, my curiosity have been getting stronger so it might not be long until I read it.
" Ah-ha! I know what we can play with sister!" Tarr suddenly says, distracting me and any thoughts I have about that blue box. With quick steps Tarr goes to the box filled with furs and picks up as many as he can. Doing this a few times as he makes a makeshift nest/beanbag thing against one of the cave walls with one working arm, making me able to sit and see my brother from a safe place that will, hopefully, cushion me should I loss what little balance I have.
If there was something that I have descovered earlier on was that I have little problem with sitting up if given enough support to help me keep my rather small and weak body up. I could barely move as it is, with turing my head left and right making me more tried then I liked and I've barely have a strong enough grip to hold onto when I tried to hold mothers clothes or the sling she would have me in when she walked around our home doing what little chores father would allow her to do at the moment.
Mother does not seems to mind much really, though she have been quitely telling to me when the two of us are alone that its driving her a little mad but she understand that father is just worried about her. Mother is cleary a woman that prefers to have something to do then sit all day doing nothing. But even she knows that her body needs the rest and she seems to find it fun to see both my father and brothers have a real 'fun' time doing chores they are not used to.
At least on a daily bases. I find it funny myself to see father using the weaver thing and manage to somehow tie his own hands turing the process. And then mother have to help untie him afterwards. Or my brothers trying to impress mother and showing her as big boys they can be more helpful in the home even after she is fully recovered. Even Tarr dose this, though he has far more success in this then Darak and Malak have, even he have made himself a fool more then once already.
" Alright. Just one moment sister. I'll be right back!" Tarr tells me as he sprint to the toybox to get what he wanted from it, after making sure I was safe enough in the nest/beanbag thing he made for me. Soon, after he had gone back and forth, there are several wooden figurines that Tarr have been placing on the floor.
Moving them here and there and getting some woodblocks and other stuff to build buldings and other things. It's not long after I see what my brother have manage to make. A few small villages, what seems to be some forests and hills, many many worn wooden animles that father most have craved over the years for my all brothers to play with and several other figures of diffrent shape, size and race.
" I know you love hearing father tell you stories and adventures, just like I do." Tarr starts as he picks up two diffrent Orcs and makes sure he has my full attantion. " So we are going to make our own story and adventure with these little fellows! What do you say sister?"
"Gurrrlp, mawa mawa!" That actually sounds fun. And its far more interesting then just wait to finally take a nap, or that I need help with a change or milk.
" That what I thought! Now lets start with who you want to be in our story? Don't worry sister, we have plenty to choice from, but lest start with these two. This Shamen or the Blademaster?" Tarr asks me as he get then two figurines closer to me so that I could get a better look at them.
* Jepp this is going to be fun. Thanks brother Tarr, your the best!* I think as I do my best to show I'm not interested neither of these two. Tarr just puts them down once he gets it and bring up a new pair. Asking if I want to be a Archer or Warrior instead.
" Hey father, mother? When will sister be named?" Malak asks a few days later. Late into the night as we are all in the living room, doing our little family thing. At least I think it is? Father is currently teaching Darak and Tarr on the giant fur carped how to hold down a opponent in a non-leathal manner, saying that they can't learn the the more lethal verson unless they manage to do the opposite with out hurting each other. Malak is waiting patiently for his turn to try, sitting beside me and mother who are watching as well when he asked.
* Wait named? Don't I have a name already? I'm certian had one when I was a human. If I remember right it was-wait a minute why can't I remember my old name?!* Not knowing I'm panicing in my mind that it suddenly dawned on me I can't remember my old name, mother starts to calm me down when she notice quickly the movements in the basket I'm making are out of distress. Rocking me and hushing me softly, saying everthing is alright and theres nothing to be afried of, while father answer Malak once he is sure that both Darak and Tarr stops to listen as well.
" It all depends when the Spirits deem its time for your sister to be named Malak." Father answer surprisingly easy. He looks at me as he continues to talk. " You see son, only the Spirits and the Wilds are allowed to name us and they decide when it is time for us to have one." Now fathers face turn a little grim as he walks over and puts a hand on my head. Slowly and carefully rubbing it as he talks on while all four of use listen on. Mother having her own grim look as well as father tells us why.
" This is due to the fact that we are still, in part as a pusihment for what our ancestors did in the Great Death Wars and what dose corrupted Blood Sects did to our race as a whole, monsters in some ways. Our names are not even 'real' so to say until we get initated with a second name given to use by the Wilds of the world. And we have to be proven worthy of that second name." A sigh leave father lips as he looks me in the eyes, sorrow seems to show for a brief moment before it is gone and sad resigness replace it, he says in a sligthly shaken voice. " And some of us never even gains a name from the Spirits at all."
* Excuse me!? Say what now?!* I can't help but shout in my mind, my face most have made a look of fear as mother immediately starts rocking me again and hums a lullybye that I have become familiar with. It calms the new fear that blooms in my heart. And luckly for me, Darak is the one to ask or rather shout what I want to ask right the hell now. " Theres a chance sister will never be named?! But why father?? Sister hasn't done anything or is even old enough to not deserve a name!"
Father once again sigh, this time much heavier then the last before he seems to find the strength to answer Darak's questions. " We simply don't know son. We simply don't know why. The Shamens and Spirits Guides have never been able to find out why, no matter how much they have tried. We only knows the aftermath of what happens when we are never named."
Theres a uncomfortable silent around all of us now. Both father and mother looking grim and worried, while my brothers have looks of shock and fear on their faces as this all sink in. I'm not doing better my self, though I more calm thanks to the fact that mother dose not stop her rocking or humming. Keeping me from going into a panic again as I let this sink in as well. It was quite for what seems to be hours, noone willing to make a sound beside mothers humming. Then Malak spoke up, his voice filled with fear as he asked the question.
" Then wh-what will happened if sister is never named?"
" The part that make us monsters takes over and drive the poor unlucky soul to madness. Killing everyone and ever living thing in their sight. Once this happened theres no way to turn them back. And the we-" Here father stops, taking a deep breath to steady himself before he finish the sentence." We will have to kill her to save her soul should this happen to her."
*SAY WHAT?!?!?* Is all I managed to shout in my mind before I start scream and cry my head off sortly after hear this. Mother hugs me closer to try and calm me down. She whispers sweet nothings and that "everything is okay" while rocking me. My brothers look up at the two of us, in fear and horror. Their faces quickly break into tears, when they understand the meaning of father words. And what they will most likely have to do to me should the Spirits never see fit in giving me a name.
Father is quick to hug my brothers in comfort as they start to really cry as well. Saying things in hused tones too low for me to hear but no doubt father is trying his best to calm the three of them. And after what felt like forever, we all left the living room to the bedroom I share with my parents, my brothers hot on their heels, after father makes sure the fireplace is safe enough to slowly die out in the night.
We all pile up in what my parents calls a bed, a large wooden frame filled with dried straw and furs, and we all fall asleep togheter that night in the comfort of each other. Well, they at least. I'm too busy staring at the blue box again. It's words now making me feel things I rather not think about as I make my decision.
