Cindy's Perspective
I opened my eyes and was startled when I saw three people staring back at me. I gasped and sat up immediately. I was in a bed, in the same room I had fallen into. I was surrounded by three girls; one with dark brown hair, one with red hair, and one with light brown hair.
"Hello! I'm Madison!" The dark brown-haired one said. She had brown eyes that matched her hair perfectly and pale skin. She honestly looked quite friendly. She was wearing black shorts and a dark orange shirt. So were the girls next to her... And me! Wait. I don't remember changing into this... or going to bed, for that matter!
"I'm Keira!" The red-haired one basically shouted. She had greenish eyes that sparkled in the sun and pale skin. Her skin was paler than Madison's. I could already tell that Keira had a bubbly personality and a kind nature.
"My name's May." The last girl said, giving me a small wave. She had glasses with a pastel pink frame and crystal clear lenses. Her hair was beautiful. It was very light brown, borderline dirty blonde. Her eyes also sparkled in the sun. May seemed shy but friendly.
"So, what's your name?" Keira asked me.
"Cindy," I replied.
"How old are you?" Madison asked, "I'm 12."
"Madison! Don't be rude!" Keira shouted.
"I was just asking!" Madison defended.
"It's ok. I'm 64 years old. I am married with one son called Sam." I told them. They all cracked up laughing. I'm so confused; why would they laugh at that? "What?" I finally asked.
"Nothing," Keira and Madison say at the same time. Suddenly, someone knocks on the door and pushes it open. It was Jessie. I let out an annoyed sigh and rolled my eyes.

"Hey, Cindy! It's nice to see you awake! Anyway, it's almost time for lights out. I was checking that all of you have had a shower," she says with a smile.
"Cindy hasn't. She only just woke up," Madison said.
"Ok. Cindy, I want you to get some clothes, a towel and your shower bag and follow me, please! I'll let you have a shower now."
"Shower bag?" I say, confused.
"Yes, shower bag. It contains your shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, deodorant and stuff like that. Yours is over there," Jessie said, pointing to a row of 4 lockers. One for each of us. I got up and walked to the tall locker with my name. I get my shower bag, towel and change of clothes before following Jessie out of the room. Jessie and I walk in awkward silence until we reach a room labled 'female showers'.
"Please return to room 5 when you are finished. Lights out is in 1 hour. That's when you need to be back in your room. No leaving the building and no going into the boy's rooms. Understood?" I nod my head in response, too tired and shocked to talk. Jessie gave me a warm smile and turned to skip happily back to her room.
Once Jessie is gone, I push the door open and feel a wave of relief when the room is empty. I guess everyone has had their showers already. I walk into the large room and drop my bag to the floor when I see my reflection. I scream at the top of my lungs, making my throught burn.
"WHAT THE FU-" The door swung open before I could finish my sentence. Jessie sticks her head in and stares at me for a moment before she says something,

"Everything ok in here?" She asks, concerned.
"My-the-but-I-was-" I stutter, unable to form a sentence. My body shook as I stared at myself in the mirror, trying to process what was happening. I manage to lift my shaking hand to point at the mirror in response to Jessie's question.
"Oh, yeah, that," Jessie says. "don't worry, you'll get used to it" She shrugged, leaving the room.
All I could do was stand there, frozen, warm tears trickling from my wide eyes. How did this even happen?

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.

Unbeknownst to even the greatest of humanity's saints, the dragons did not lose to humanity just because of humanity. They had their own hand in their own defeat.
