After a few minutes, Jessie's laughing was replaced with silence. Jessie just stood there, staring at Cindy and Kirk, a smile never leaving her face.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
A loud banging noise was coming from the room on the left, about five rooms from the door.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
It was like someone or something was pounding on the door, trying to get out.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"What's making that noise?" Kirk asked with a shaky voice.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Why don't you go and find out," Jessie said
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Kirk started slowly walking towards the door, unsure if this was a mistake.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"You don't have to do this, Kirk!" Cindy shouted.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Yes, he does," Jessie stated. Cindy began wondering, how was she so calm?
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Kirk reached out for the door handle
BANG! BA-
The noise stopped when Kirk's hand was on the door handle.
"Go on, open it," Jessie encouraged, her smile growing. Kirk slowly turned the door handle and took a deep breath. Kirk pulled the door open and was surprised to see the room empty. Suddenly, Jessie sprinted to Kirk and pushed him so hard that he flew across the room and slammed into the wall.
"KIRK!" Cindy screamed. She started running towards Jessie and Kirk but the door closed before she got there.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The sound came from the door on the right this time.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"That one's for you," Jessie said evilly.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"No! I'll never listen to you!"
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Fine. I did try to help you, Cindy. But now, you'll see the consequences of disobeying them," Jessie said. She walked to a door on the right, about two doors away from the big double doors and went inside.

Cindy sighed. She didn't have a choice. All the other doors were locked, her husband was unconscious and she was alone.
BANG! BANG! BA-
Like Kirk, Cindy's door stopped as soon as her hand was on the doorknob. Cindy turned the handle and pushed the door open. Cindy was shocked when she saw someone on the other side of the door grab her hand and pull her inside, closing the door behind her...

I am, unfortunately, rather terrible at coming up with descriptions that seem to have the right amount of decorum and yet actually serve their function of adequately describing the story, so here's the coursenotes. - The story follows a fire elemental. (As you can tell from that, it is heavily besed on fantasy with mages and the like. Technology will not feature prominently) -As mentioned in the tags, this will have game-like aspects. (E.G. levels, stats. I will be trying to put my own twist on this notion however, so bear with me if the premise intrests you but you despise LitRpg) -It'll get rather dark, but not devastatingly so. (I'm trying to write a more complex story so it will have its dark moments, the prologue being one of them. Rest assured the whole story will not be this dark, though I'll make sure that no-one is a saint either) -The protagonist/protagonists will not be a Mary-Sue. (The plural will be understood when I'm further into the story. They also won't be impossiby unlikeable such as those in many Light novels.) -There is no prophecy (Anyone who says there is, is lying, trust me.)

See how other people are dealing with the Gates, the main character is Rex Lopiz but there are times where you see what other people or creatures are doing in order to survive and live their daily lives and what they do. Not everyone is as lucky as Rex but they still try to survive even with Gates appearing. Follow how other people deal with situations as well as follow Rex through his journey.
