《With You (A Kamijirou Fanfic)》Chapter 2

(Jirou's POV)
We are having our battles at Ground Beta. I was trying to figure out a good plan to at least survive my battle with Sato. His quirk is influenced by his sugar intake, right? Maybe I should just run around the grounds and avoid him to wear him out? Nah, that won't work. His quirk won't wear out that fast, we only have like, 15 minutes before the next pair is up for showdown.
As I was thinking of what to do, Kaminari called out my name.
"What is it?" I asked.
"You're up next, aren't you?" he smiled then gave me a thumbs up. "Good luck."
"Thanks..." It's my turn soon? I was too busy strategizing to notice! Crap!
I glanced at the big screen showing the battle between Mineta and Aoyama. Looks like Mineta had won this match, Aoyama was hanging from a wall by the familiar purple balls. Welp, I guess I should get ready quick.
~~~~~~
I was stationed in an alleyway, playing the hero role while Sato was the villain. My quirk was the stealth based type so I guess this is a perfect opportunity to practice.
I stuck an earphone jack into a wall and the other into the ground to make sure the coast was clear. Sato's in a building ten meters from where I was.
I entered the building where Sato was guarding the thing I was supposed to retrieve. All I had to do was capture him with the handcuffs I was given, get the item and get outta here. Easy enough, right? Nope. Not at all.
I hid into a dark corner and stabbed my earphone jack into the wall. I could hear Sato on the floor above me, he's coming downstairs. I waited until he was close, picked up a small rock, took aim and threw it the opposite way from where I was.
Sato reacted to the sound and went to the direction I threw the rock at and walked away from me, just as I planned. I silently got up and went to the floor above. My plan was to lead him away, grab the item and captured him later.
I found the object after searching the floor, a small gadget. I kept the device safely in my pocket and went downstairs to look for Sato.
"Found you, Jirou," a voice said from behind me. Great. He found me. Time to put plan B into action. Sorry about this, Sato.
I connected my jacks to the amplifiers on my wrists and shot a sound wave that knocked him out, put the handcuffs on his wrists and walked out of the arena with three minutes to spare. I won!
~~~~~~~
I regrouped with the other students to watch the next battle. Kaminari walked up to me.
"Wow, Jirou, you were amazing out there!" Kaminari complimented me.
"I wasn't too bad," I replied. "I just got lucky."
"Come on, Jirou, you were AWESOME! Stop it with the modesty and have a little confidence in yourself. That wasn't luck at all, that was the result of some clever strategies made by a clever girl," Kaminari gave me a pat on the back. This boy really knows how to cheer me up.
"Thanks, Kami,"I smiled at him, and continued to watch the battle between Kirishima and Uraraka.
~~~~~~
Kaminari's match had just ended, with him losing thanks to him going "herp-a-derp".
Mr Aizawa sighed. "Here we go again. Jirou, please take him to Recovery Girl."
"Yes, sir."
I dragged him to the nurse's office. Is it just me or has he gotten heavier since the last time Aizawa made me take him to the nurse?
"Wheeeeey~"
Oh God, I can't hold it in anymore. I burst into laughter. It's been almost two years and his derp face and his short-circuited brain cells never fail to make me laugh. I tried my best to suppress any more giggling so I can take him to Recovery Girl.
~~~~~~
(Kaminari's POV)
My head hurts. Wait, where am I? The nurses office? Damn, did I short-circuit my brain again?! When will I ever be able to control my quirk? I ought to have gotten used to it by now.
But you know what they say, no one's perfect. Not even Jirou. She has conflicts and problems too, she tells me her problems all the time and I'd let her cry on my shoulder if she needed to. I may not be smart enough to give her logical advice, but I can encourage her and give her all the support she needs, if that's enough to cheer her up.
The sound of the door brought me back to the present. The door opened to reveal a short old woman walking in.
"Ah, I see you're awake now," Recovery Girl said, handing me a bar of Snickers. "Have some chocolate and you can head back to class."
"Who brought me here?" I asked, taking a bite of chocolate.
"Your girlfriend."
"My what?!" I nearly spat out some chocolate.
"Your girlfriend, that girl from your class with the short purple hair. She's your girlfriend, isn't she?"
"Whaaat? Nooo, she just a friend!" I nervously laughed. My chest felt like it's being squeezed from the inside and my face felt as if Todoroki set it on fire, minus the pain. I should know what that felt like because he accidentally shot some flames at me once.
"Pity. You two would have made a good couple. She's a nice girl."
My face had gotten so heated up that I could probably have fried eggs on them for breakfast. "A-ah, I-I...gottagettoclassnowthankyoubyeeeeee!!!!" I ran the hell outta there before she said anything else.
Thank goodness, Jirou wasn't there to see it all. If I had to list down all each and every one of my most embarrassing moments, I'd say that was in the top three, only second to the time my pants fell off back in grade school.
I got to class and took my seat. Jirou...as my girlfriend? I thought about it. Do...I like her? I've had crushes before but I've never felt the way I do now.
I glanced at at the seat to my left. Jirou did look really cute. I heard what guys say about her, mainly from Mineta, that she was a tomboy and there was nothing attractive about her. They have no idea what they're talking about . Come on, she's cute, talented, pretty.....
.........................
OH. GOD.
(3rd person POV)
At Recovery Girls office....
"Wheeeeeeey~"
"You're not you when you're hungry, dearie," Recovery Girl handed Kaminari a Snickers bar. "Have a Snickers."
Brain dead Kaminari eats the Snickers.
"Better?"
"Better."
"Come on, author, it makes the whole story more interesting," Kaminari whines.
"Ugh, fine. But at least can the Snickers bar be included?"

The Tempestatem
When Gale Storm is murdered, death brings with it an unexpected ticket to the fantastical world of Mioverold - a place rife with dangerous creatures and political conflict. While the adversaries may be driven by common goals, they have vastly different approaches. Faced with these uniquely powerful combatants, and no chance to return to life as he knows it, Gale must decide what to do next. Choosing a side to spend his afterlife with isn't going to be easy, since war is just as much about perspectives as it is about the absolutes of right or wrong.
8 208On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above.
