《Twice Bitten ✔》Chapter 4

"Damn that movie was awesome!" Jesse said
"Yeah, it was so much better than I thought it would be," Leila said, linking her arm with his.
"Oh wow, it's late I should be heading home," Leila said glancing at her phone.
"Yeah me too, let's head out," Jesse said.
They both waved at us before heading to the parking lot. Emmett and I held hands as we slowly made our way to my car.
"Do you mind if I hang out at your house for a while?" Emmett asked
"Nah my parents won't be home for another couple of hours," I said, getting into my car.
The drive home was awkward. I guess Emmett still had a little attitude about the whole Dylan thing, so I decided to break the silence.
"So... this was different."
"Yeah, it was," Emmett said, looking out the window.
Okay well, that didn't work.
"So how did Leila and Jesse get together?" I asked hoping the topic of our best friends hooking up would lighten his mood.
"After school, he came up to me and asked if she was single and I said yeah, so he asked if he could tag along."
"Oh, well, they seem to really like each other."
"Yeah, they seem like they have potential."
I thought my attempt to make conversation was working until his smile was wiped off his face, and he began to glare at the window.
When we arrived at my house, I was thinking of what to say to Emmett. I was getting ready to climb out of the car, but he, on the other hand, didn't look like he was going to budge.
"Come on in so we can cuddle." I thought that all hope was lost until he smiled.
"Kay, let's go babe!" he said, striding over to my front door.
I rolled my eyes, of course, that's what worked.
While Emmett closes the door behind him, I take off my jacket and plop onto the comfy couch. When Emmett sat down next to me, he lifted me onto his lap and kissed me softly on the lips, but his kisses became more passionate as we got lost in the kiss.
When we broke apart for air, I took some time to look at him. Emmett has light brown hair that was always styled short, brown eyes that were so dark they almost looked black, and a muscular body. He was always good looking. Even when we were younger his charm was undeniable. Emmett began kissing me again and I lost my train of thought. I heard Emmett whisper something in my ear, but I was too caught up in the pleasure he was giving me to really catch what he said. Before I knew we were in my room and our shirts had been tossed somewhere. I let out a breathy giggle as he trailed kisses down my neck. A small moan escaped my mouth as he ground against me. I bit my lip when I felt his hardness resting against me.

"Someone looks happy."
Emmett smirked, "I guarantee you could make me so much happier." He said as he started to grind harder into me.
I don't know if it was the voice in the back of my head or his really lame attempt at getting laid, but I wasn't really into it.
"Woah, down boy." I pushed Emmett away from me.
"Seriously?"
"I'm not feeling it, besides my parents should be home soon."
"And there's nothing I can do to change your mind?" Emmett asked, running a finger down my body.
I smiled. " Nope."
Emmett sighed. "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow." He said, kissing me on my forehead.
When I heard the front door close, I got up and ran water for a bath. I poured some bubbles into the tub and watched it form a big fluffy cloud. When the last of my bubbles popped and disappeared, I got out and slipped on some shorts and a tank top and climbed into bed. As soon I laid in bed I thought about Emmett. It wasn't as if I didn't want to have sex with Emmett. In fact, there had been quite a few times where I wanted to seal the deal with him, but every time we got close something felt off. I sighed and flopped to my side before falling asleep.
When I got up in the morning, I felt so carefree like nothing could hurt me. For the first time this week, my parents didn't fight; this was really starting to be a good day. When I went downstairs for breakfast, I was shocked to see that my mom had cooked. It was nice to sit and talk to my parents normally instead of them arguing back and forth. My day only seemed to get better as it went on. As I opened my locker, I found two notes. When I open the first one, I noticed Emmett's bold handwriting.
A sigh of relief escaped me. I was starting to get really worried about our relationship. Some guys were less than pleased when it came to getting pushed away. I was happy that he was willing to wait for me. I'll have to talk to him later today. I wasn't really sure who the next note was from, but I was eager to find out.
(Hey, I can't wait to see your beautiful face, you've been such a help to me. I'm already improving in Spanish oh and Nyla misses you)

Dylan is such a goof. Does he really think I'm beautiful? When I found Emmett, he was talking to Bianca Garcia. Why the hell would he be talking to her? She's the type of girl you only go to when you want something. Emmett finally saw me and headed in my direction, but I shook my head and briskly walked away from him. I didn't have anything to say to him. As much as I didn't want to, I was only thinking the worse about him, and I was honestly scared of what could be said if we talked right now. I took a few deep breathes before I heard Dylan's voice call out to me.
"Hey, Nessie!"
For some reason, the thought of him taking the time to give me a nickname made my heart melt.
"Hey." I smiled up at him.
"Did you get my letter?"
"Yes, I did." I chuckled.
"So you read the part about you having a pretty face," Dylan smirked.
"Actually, I believe your exact words where beautiful," I said playfully.
I was utterly shocked when I saw him blush; it was about the cutest thing I've ever seen.
"Thanks, it was really sweet," I whispered in his ear as I hugged him.
When I looked over Dylan's shoulder, I saw Emmett's face. I watched as a few different emotions flicked across his face: hatred, hurt, and disbelief being the main ones. I couldn't help but flinch and look away when our gazes met. I still didn't feel up to confronting him, so I chose to ignore him. Now, this was probably stupid, but it would have to be something that I deal with later. When I broke apart from our hug, Dylan offered to walk me to class, and I just couldn't say no. I felt anxiety crawl up my spine as we walked away, though. I didn't really know what was going on with Emmett and I kind of felt like I may have made it worse.
Dylan really surprised me when he took my hand in his as we were walking. It wasn't exactly awkward, but it was different. I noticed everyone stopped to look at us, but Dylan either didn't notice or just didn't care. When we arrived to class, everyone gawked at us. I guess I could understand everyone's reactions. Dylan usually kept his interactions to a minimum so I could see how our display would shock some people.
"You have some serious explaining to do," Leila said as soon as I sat down.
Before I even had a chance to try and explain, Mrs. Rosita called on me.
"Sra. Negro, ¿te importaría subir y traducir palabras para la clase." (Ms. Black, would you mind coming up and translating words for the class.) Mrs. Rosita asked
"Por supuesto y donde le gustaria me que empiece?"(Of course, where would you like me to start?)
"Sorprende a mi."(Surprise me.) Mrs. Rosita said, shrugging her shoulders.
I walked up in front of the class and racked my brain for something to do.
"Okay, someone gives me anything, and I'll translate it in Spanish for you," I said, and a bunch of hands shot in the air.
"Okay, how do you say you're a loser?"
"Eres un perdedor." I replied.
"Hey, Lucas!" She called out
. "What," Lucas said, obviously annoyed.
"Eres un perdedor." She said happily as Lucas gave her the bird.
I scanned the classroom trying to figure out who I was going to pick next
"Leila."
"How about my best friend is a Spanish speaking Goddess."
I rolled my eyes at her.
"Mi mejor amigo es una diosa de habla española."
"Who's next," I asked, and Dylan's hand shot up.
"How do you say Leila's right, your beautiful face, is like one of a Goddess?"
I couldn't help but blush when I translated this for him. "Derecho de Leila su bello rostro, es como uno de una diosa."
Dylan is slowly making his way to my heart, and I don't know what to do about it.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!

Orianne was a lover girl, whom some considered a hopeless romantic, but she wouldn't dare let the opinions of others knock her off her pivot. She was a young woman who knew what she wanted, and to her, there was nothing wrong with that. She desired the husband, children, dates, random gifts, trips, family outings, and so on.Some would say the reason she can't keep a man is because her standards are high. Which is a ridiculous take. Yes, her standards may be "high," but that's because her father set the tone. She knows what she wants and how she's supposed to be treated, and if you're not giving her that, then you have to go. Out of the few men she has dealt with, she lets them know beforehand what she wants, and it's not her fault that they choose to lead her on under the impression that they wanted the same thing. Another reason men tend to leave her alone is because she's a woman of status, a woman of her word, and a woman about her business. She handles her own and has her own which tends to bruise a man's ego. When asked what she brings to the table, she has a solid answer. She doesn't just bring herself or her body-that's the bonus-she brings communication, trust, comprehension, stability, submission, commitment, and so on.
