Sandra: dish

(2)Sandra: potato

Sandra: mall

Sandra: 0-100 real quick

(2)Sandra: can't. Even if I wanted to I have a huge group project this weekend to work on.

I thought back to everything I've done with Kevin last week and this week. We rarely went out as it was but every single time we did he kept calling it a date so he had to be specific.

Sandra: IM NOT AND THAT WASN'T A DATE

Sandra: I'm busy with school and you even have basketball in school and rep ball so dont talk to me about time

Sandra: yeah?

Sandra: do i have to?

Sandra: angel? Really? Is that my new contact name?

I sat down on the indoor bleachers of our school gym, with Amelia next to me. I haven't seen a basketball game at this school since grade nine and I remember dragging Amelia with me like I did today.

"We're actually here to watch your boyfriend play basketball?"

"Yes-what? Kevin is not my boyfriend," I quickly stated for the 100th time. "I'm only here for support."

"Sure," Amelia quipped, her eyes scanning the court. "Hey, isn't that-"

"Ian."

"That guy that tried asking you out when he already had a girl like over a month ago?"

I looked over to where she was looking and nodded. "Yup. That's him."

"Shame. He's cuter in person. Sucks it all goes down the drain."

Cam settled in beside me. "Let's hope we'll win guys."

My eyes were still on the court but this time over to where our school team was. I spotted Kevin wiping the backs of his shoes, his gaze on the bleachers possibly looking for me.

When he found me, he shot me a wink before focusing on what was happening.

"What was that?" Amelia teased but i brushed her off when the whistle was blown.

73-43

That was the final score.

24 of those points out of 73 were scored by Kevin.

Five minutes after the game ended I was still in shock.

Sandra: sure.

"And that's our cue to leave," Amelia laughed. "See you on Monday babe."

She grabbed Cameron's arm and they left the gym along with other people as the crowd that was on the bleachers dispersed.

Soon, I could see Kevin walking out of the connecting changeroom, heading right towards me. He tossed his duffle bag to the side before grabbing a basketball off a rack and taking a seat next to me. "So?"

"So what?" I asked him as he twisted the ball in his hands.

"Did you enjoy the game?"

I leaned my chin on my hand. "I can't believe I'm saying this but you're really good."

He narrowed his eyes at me and I knew he didn't know whether or not to take me seriously. "Thanks S. That means a lot from you considering you don't even know how to play the game."

I scoffed. "I know how to play."

He stoof up, dribbling the ball against the floor of the gym. "Really now?"

"Yeah." I got up and snatched th ball out of his hands. I dribbled to the freepoint line and shot it. The ball went in with a swish. "See."

He shook his head, retriving the ball. "Your form is all wrong."

"What? It's completely fine."

"No it-okay let me show you." Kevin stood behind me and handed me the ball. "Show me how you would usually shoot the ball."

I faced the net and Kevin tsked. "Okay here," He fixed where my hands were and made me bend my knees slightly. "The power comes from your legs and with your form you just have to follow through like this."

He placed his hands over mine and before i knew it, the ball was released and it made the same swish noise as it entered the net.

I put my hands on my hips. "Either way it goes in."

"You're impossible S." he muttered, turning me around.

"But seriously, you did really good. I even saw that block you made when stupid Ian tried to shoot."

Kevin laughed. "You were actually paying attention?"

"Of course I was. I came here to support you, didn't I?"

Kevin smiled and then sighed dramatically. "What?"

"If only," He paused, making a face to show that he was thinking. "I could be congratulated with a kiss."

I rolled my eyes. "You're not going to sneak attack another kiss on me, are you Reed? Because even though there's no paint I'll splash Gatorade on you or something."

"All I wanted was a kiss on the cheek no even lips," He raised his hands up in defence. "I'm not going to act like an idiot again."

"But you act like an idiot everyday."

"That's true but only around you." His endearing eyes made my head theoretically spin.

I looked away from his eyes, crossing my arms. "Okay ask."

He blinked, confusion all over his face. I knew he didn't think I would actually consider it. "Ask what?"

"Ask me to kiss you."

He stared at me, his lips parted, his expression still in surprise. "Um, S, will you kiss me?On the cheek-you know a starting point."

I walked over to him, standing on my tiptoes to press my lips on his cheek before pulling away.

I heard the sound of a loud whistle and Hayden nodded, walking out of the changeroom without a shirt on. "A kiss on the cheek. Well look at that. You're finally giving him a chance S?"

Kevin took the ball and whipped it at Hayden who caught it quickly with a laugh. "Get out man."

Hayden grinned. "Want me to give you some privacy? Is she going to kiss you on the lips next? You might not want to get hot and heavy in the gym. Coach may come out at any second."

"Oh my God." Kevin mumbled , looking up at ceiling as if asking, 'why me'?

If anything it fuelled Hayden to laugh even more. "Bye S."

"Bye Hayden." I said and he took two steps before taking a shot way past half court. While walking out of the gym after the release of the ball, my jaw dropped as the ball went in.

Kevin went over to get the ball dribbling it ans tossing it to me. "So, any chance I can get one on the lips?"

"Not anytime soon." I laughed, tossing him the ball back.

"It was worth a shot." He touched his cheek, right where I kissed him and cracked a smile. "I think a smuge of your lip balm got on me."

And because that stupid laugh of his was contagious, I cracked a smile. "Oh my gosh, you're making it worse-just-here."

I stepped forward and wiped it off his face , our eyes making contact. I tore my gaze off of him a second later. "So, uh, biology?"

"Oh yeah," He went over to the bleachers to grab his duffle bag. "Let's go to the library to 'study biology'."

He put air quotes around "study biology", making me roll my eyes. "Yes biology which i could realy use your help in."

"Okay, relax." He laughed as exited the gym.

Then he asked the question he asked every single day.

"Hey S?"

"Yeah?"

"Want to go to prom together?"

"No."

He gave me a smile anyway no matter the rejection. He put his hand out, palm out as a suggestion as we walked out the school, his lips forming a little pout. I glanced down at it. "Really? You want me to hold your hand?"

He's done this before. So many other times but a part of me found it adorable he was asking.

"Yeah," He nodded the smile still on his face. "I want you to hold my hand if you want to."

I mentally sighed. He knew what he was doing. When he gave me that face it was hard to say no to him. And he knew it.

I pushed my hair back before taking his hand in mine and lacing our fingers together. While walking to the library, he swung our hands a little bit between us. I noticed the evident bounce in his step and the way he kept gesturing over to our locked hands as a step to our 'relationship. But it wasn't just that. I noticed the easy way he made conversation with me through text or in person. Making me laugh, annoyed to the point where I almost shoved him off the sidewalk during our walk and all the things that came with Kevin. That's when it hit me.

That he was serious about this. That he wanted something out of this. Out of us.
