《Byakuya X Reader》🍃The day that once forgot🍃

~꧁꧂~
I am Y/N L/N and I am the Ultimate Forensic Scientist... or at least, that's what I tell everyone. In realty, I'm the ultimate hitman. Killing by night, slicing up the corpses during the day. I got enrolled in hopes peak a while ago, apparently I was scouted out by someone. They saw my talent as something worthy. I never imagined I would be chosen to attend the most elite school in the whole of Japan.
Truth be told, I didn't have the best childhood. My parents had me when they were still both teens. My dad left soon after. My mum said I ruined everything. However she went out one night and fell pregnant with my brother. She hated him too, said he was a curse. It was just me, my mum and my brother from then on. My mum would drink and cry all the time. I had to learn how to fend for myself most of the time.
But, when I turned 10, I started to work. Yes, I was young, but I did what I had to do. I worked in a small shoe shop until I was 13. That was went I first became a hitman. My first kill, was a total accident. I was forced into an ally way by some older men, and I noticed a gun lying on the ground. I fired at each of them several times before I realised they were death. But, strangely, it felt good. As if Killing was what I was meant to do.
I set up a secret system for people to pay me to take others out and I even started to experiment with cutting them open and examining the insides. I became an expert on dissection in my science class and my teacher was so impressed he recommend me to professional forensic scientists and the police.
I was beyond average in that field. But somehow, when I first started high school when I was 14, in that year I was scouted as a hitman. They found out somehow, but decided to hide it saying I was a forensic scientist. That was when I first realised how messed up the school was.
Shortly after I turned 15, I joined the school. But, when I met my class I realised I was the odd one out, I was a whole year younger than them. I had graduated earlier from junior high and I was younger than everyone else. I found it hard to converse with them, I was also sitting in the back, reading a book. I eventually spoke to the school about it and they promised to transfer me into the class that would join the next year when I wanted to.
But, it all changed when Miss Yukizome came. She was different. So lighthearted and kind, she managed to bring us all together, but she wasn't the glue that held us. They glue was a great friend of mine, Chiaki Nanami, the Ultimate gamer.
But, before our exams, something terrible happened. The building just exploded and Nagito Komeada, the Ultimate Lucky student and Miss Yukizome were suspended. It was six months before we saw either of them again.
I would be transferred into the new class after a couple of weeks after the new term. I wanted to welcome Miss Yukizome back. She was so wonderful to us.
However, that was when the despair started. It wasn't too long into the first week of two when something horrible happened. The entire student council all killed each other and someone got it on film and showed it to the world. The reserve course started to riot at our gates. They wouldn't go down peacefully.

Mikan stopped showing up after a while and before we knew it, we had all stumbled into danger. Chiaki came back to class one day, carrying Nagito who had been shot, and Peko came back with Mikan who had fought with someone. Chiaki explained how Miss Yukizome was in danger and we had to help her. We agreed after a long discussion. We went to the statue of Izuru Kamakura and entered the tunnel underneath.
We were all there... expect for Chiaki.
We watched as the screen's came to life as we stood in a circular room. But, we couldn't move, couldn't look away. On the screen I saw Chiaki and I could heard Junko.
Junko was putting her through immense torture and promised her freedom if she reached the end. But as she reached the goal door... a punch of spikes came from no where, piercing her entire body.
None of us were able to protect her. We failed. We failed to protect our friend. We failed to fight despair. We failed.
From that day, we were filled with despair. We all started to work for Junko. The rest of the class went out into the world to spread their misfortune, but I stayed within the school as Junko told me too.
She was planning to make a killing game. I was all for it, of course. But then, she erased everyone's memories. Including mine. I fell out of despair and I was free...
Up until now.
Now I remember. I remember it all. But I've come to the crossroads. I have the ability to choose... hope or despair? Will my friends live or die? Will my love life or die? Will I live or die?
.
..
...
Live.
I want them to live. I love them all. My friends, Byakuya... my family. They're all so important to me. Junko May have corrupted me, but I won't give in anymore. I will break free and help my friends destroy the killing game.
~꧁꧂~
I awoke with a jolt. I knew. I knew it all. But I still lacked tune power I needed to tell everyone that Junko was behind this. I need more time.
But, as I looked around. I was confused. I had no idea where I was. It was a small room with a small bed.
'Rise and shine!' Monokuma appeared before me.
'Junko,' I muttered through my teeth.
'Puhuhu, it looks as if you remember! But do you really think you have the power to convince the others?' Monokuma- no, Junko laughed.
'Not yet. But, I won't back down! Once I get out of here, once you're dead, I'll go after the rest of my old class and save them too!' I felt hope shine within me. This was who I am.
'All righty! But we should get back to the trial before it's too late!' The Monokuma grabbed my hand, pulling me through a door and into the trial room. Everyone stood there. Their faces were grim.
'Y/N, are you alright? You suddenly collapsed,' Celeste held her hand close to her chest.
'I wasn't fine then... but I'm feeling better. I might not have gotten the chance to investigate much, but, I believe we can do this. Together, as a team,' I smiled as I walked over to my podium.
'Well, we were just discussing the murder weapon. It came from the kitchen and we were about to talk about who could have gotten it,' Celeste explained to me, smiling softly.
'Right, so as I was saying. I spent the whole morning in the cafeteria/canteen before we found the body,' Leon explained. 'I was there the whole time with Kyoko, trying to monitor her. But well, I guess she did disappear a few times,' He shrugged.

'But, could Kyoko have taken the murder weapon and go to the art room?' Byakuya pondered.
'Well, I guess,' Leon sighed as he rubbed the back of his head. 'But, I mean, could she have done it? She's been in such a state since we woke up,'
'We can't exclude any possibility, not yet at least,' I added. 'Although, I hate to think Kyoko would have done it. So far, she is our only lead. Do you have anything to say on that?' I looked over at the silvery purple haired girl.
'If you believe it was me who committed the murder then let us explore that path and come to a conclusion,' She sounded awfully calm for someone who was being accused of murder.
'Alright then. We'll follow this lead. Did anyone see Kyoko before the murder going from the first floor to the 3rd?' Celeste questioned to which everyone shook their head.
'So we have no way to verify if she did or not. But, let's move onto the events on the murder,' Byakuya stated.
'Right! Well, Hifumi was in the art room when the killer brutally stabbed them repeatedly!' Taka said.
'Yes, but this wasn't an instant attack. Hifumi was in there when the killer came in, we can presume that when he saw the knife he panicked and there was a struggle. This resulted in the paint spilling and the canvases on the floor. Also, the killer's first attack missed, there was an indent on the shelf where the knife had been,' Celeste continued.
'The killer must have cornered him and knocked him to the ground, stabbing him multiple times before he died. But, he suffered several more stabs afterwards. It seemed the killer was filled with rage,' I added.
'But, wouldn't the killer have gotten blood on their hands? How would they have time to clean that up, when we found the body, he was still warm, it couldn't have been long,' Sakura pointed out.
'Unless they had something to cover up the blood with,' Byakuya grinned 'For example, a jacket for their arms and gloves for their hands,'
'Is this enough evidence to convince Kirigiri though? We need to find more clues. We can't make a single mistake,' I pointed out.
'What should we talk about next? I mean, what clues are there?' Mondo shrugged.
'How about the bag we found?' Sakura piped up.
'That bag... oh I remember,' I muttered to myself for speaking up 'It's Kyoko's bag. The other day she had it with her when we had to do something,' I explained as I looked at Kyoko. She looked almost emotionless, but a flicker of worry was in her eyes. However, all of this seems too perfect to be her. I think the mastermind set this up, and I think she knows that too. But, we can't just accuse the mastermind right now... we'd never win. 'I'm sorry Kyoko,' I murmured, barley even moving my lips.
'That's even more evidence on Kyoko!' Taka exclaimed. 'It has to be her!'
'Wait, are we sure, like, 100% sure? Like I said, no mistakes,' I tried to slow the pace of the trial down. Surely there was something that could point towards the mastermind, or rather, Junko.
'No, no. It's alright. It was me,' Kyoko sighed before she spoke.
'What? And you're just confessing to it?' Celeste frowned.
'Yes, though, I was not in my right mind when I murderer Hifumi, I am responsible,' She looked over to me and I saw the pain in her eyes. She was lying.
'Well then, let's move onto the voting,' Byakuya looked away.
'Alrighty everyone! Pull the lever to vote and make triple sure you vote for someone! You wouldn't want to end up dead!' Monokuma gave him usual speech before we all voted.
I watched as the casino machine flashed each of us before it landed on Kyoko. 'Correct once again!' Monokuma cheered.
'I have one last message however,' Kyoko raised a finger 'don't give into the despair or the mastermind. It's what they want. Oh, and also,' She stepped away from her podium and walked around to me 'In leaving it, to you,' She held out a gloved hand where I saw a silver key in it. 'Use it for any door,' she mouthed slightly as I pretended to shake her hand before sliding the key into my pocket before Monokuma could spot it.
'Thank you, Kyoko,' I sighed, smiling painfully at her.
'Well then. I don't like waiting for my death, so, Monokuma,' She turned to face him 'let's get this over with,'
'Alright now! Let's give it everything we've got! It's punishment time!' He announced.
I walked as Kyoko was lead away and she had put onto a desk along with a chair. The scene unfolded to be a hydraulic press on repeat. She was on a conveyer heading towards it. Monokuma was in front of her wearing glasses and a tie while holding a book and stick, pointing at the black board in front of her. 'After School Detention,' the screen in front of us displayed. I watched in fear as she neared the press, getting closer and closer. I could see the beads of sweat dripping down her forehead and the worry and panic on her face.
However, something unexpected happened. As she neared the press, if stopped, halted within the air. It gave her enough time to avoid it, but there was an open pit below her and she tumbled backwards into it. I saw a flicker of shock and panic on monokuma's face before he played it off as intended.
'Monokuma. You're nothing more than a monster,' Celeste yelled at him, holding up her finger at him.
'Let's go, come on Celeste,' I put my hand on her shoulder before glaring at the bear. I pulled my classmates away and into the elevator/lift.
'Are you alight, Y/N? You suddenly collapsed during the investigation and Monokuma took you,' Sakura asked.
'Yeah, I'm fine. I think maybe the motive had gotten to me after all and I was just feeling confused and got all panicked,' I shrugged.
'Where did Monokuma take you?' Leon crossed his arms.
'It was a small room next to the trial room. There was a small bed there too,' I sighed 'But, we need to focus on what will happen next,'
'Next?' Celeste looked at me and I saw the pain and sadness in her eyes.
'We can't just expect there isn't going to be another murder. Yes, I trust you all, but, Monokuma can make us do some pretty horrible things to each other,' I explained. 'We need to be careful,' everyone nodded before we all went to our own conversations.
'You're really taking charge, aren't you?' Byakuya smirked.
'I don't want to be in charge. But, we still need to lay out the basics. It might be while before we get out,' I explained.
'You'd make a good Businesswoman,' He chuckled.
'What? You looking to hire me?' I laughed.
'Maybe. I'm sure you'd be a useful asset in business. You have a way of persuading people,' He laughed before brushing a strand of hair behind me ear.
'I'll think about it,' I grinned.
Once we left the elevator/lift, I said I had to go grab something from my dorm and ran off as the others went to the cafeteria/canteen for dinner. But, in reality, I went upstairs towards the second floor boys bathroom. I quickly slipped in and went into the secret room. I switched on the laptop and watched it flicker to life, the head of alter ego appearing before me.
'Y/N! Hello!' He greeted.
'How are you getting on with the analysing?' I typed in, smiling slightly.
'It's going well, and I found some important Data. Class archives, but it appears you were in a different class than the others until a year ago,'
'Thank you, I already remembered this, but, please, don't repeat this to anyone. I don't want them to suspect me of being the mastermind. But, I do have a question for you,' I quickly traced my hand across the keyboard.
'Understood, What is your question?' Alter Ego tilted his head.
'What happened to Kyoko?'
'I managed to slow the gears down in the machine, so she fell down the pit. I believe it's the trash room down there. She should have survived the fall, but I can't be sure,' He explained.
'Thank you, thank you, thank you!' I repeated as I smiled broadly.
'It's no problem! Now I will look for a way out,' He smiled before the laptop's screen faded to black.
'Good luck,' I smiled before I left the room and went down to everyone else.
'Sorry that I took a while. I changed since I think I fell into some of the paint,' I smiled as I lied.
'Expected of you to fall into paint,' Byakuya muttered under his breath laughing slightly.
'Hey! I heard that!' My cheeks flushed red 'I'm not that clumsy, am I?'
'No, it's just funny,' He smiled before he rubbed my hair, messing it up, but I didn't care much.
'Stop being all 'lovey dovey', just come eat,' Leon rolled his eyes.
'Yes, of course,' I smiled as I sat down.
Kyoko is alive and I will find her. I know I will. I just need to find the right time and place.
...
Chiaki, I wasn't able to save you, but, I'll try my best to save my new friends.
