"Good morning, class." Mr Jones walked in, unaware of the embarrassment he was about to suffer from. "I hope you enjoyed your holidays. Let's get started." Libra gave me a sideways glance as Mr Jones took his seat to mark the roll. He called names, we didn't listen. The usual. Then, he got up. Libra contained her laughter by coughing into her frayed denim jacket. "Okay, so today we'll be recapping the topics from last term..."
Mr Jones made the mistake of turning around. All the students burst out into laughter, much to Mr Jones' chagrin. "What's so funny?" He looked at his seat, seeing the patched of his jeans stuck to the desk, his eyes wide. He then looked down at his own ripped jeans. It was a beautiful prank. Absolutely beautiful. Mr Jones turned toward the class, frowning. "Okay, whoever it was, fess up or it's detention for the whole class!" Libra and I looked sideways at one another before standing simultaneously. "We did it," we chorused.
Mr Jones turned to us, his face tomato red. "I should've known. It's not a surprise after your whiteboard prank." I thought back to the time we'd made Mr Jones get in huge trouble with the faculty by pretending that the new high-tech drawstring projector canvases were whiteboards. He ended up paying the cleaning bill on them all, and fortunately, the school didn't even consider our prank. However, Mr Jones did-he's held a grudge against Libra and I ever since.
"Goodness, now would be a great time to send you to the principal's office." Libra sniggered. "You can't do that thought, Mr Jones. Because the principal hates you!" The class burst out laughing. "Oh, whatever. I suppose I'll just make you pay off my jeans. You're going to pay off the $70 I spent on those." Libra whipped out her wallet, pulling out a $100 bill. "You got change for this, Mr Jones?" Mr Jones fumed but gave Libra $30 nonetheless. "You can pay me later, Sarge." She smirked, sitting down. "Well, I suppose I'll have to wear a jacket around my waist now."

Class finally ended and I handed Libra $35. "So worth it," she gushed, accepting the cash. I nodded excitedly, making my way over to where Leo, Aries and Gemini were sitting. I couldn't help but blush when I saw how the light hit Aries' golden locks. Libra smirked, noticing. "This is the year you tell Aries how you feel! I've already told you-she likes you back! Just go for it Sarge-you've got nothing to lose."
I looked down at my feet. "Fine. But you gotta go on a date with that Ophiuchus kid to get him off our backs." Libra groaned. "But.... why? He's so weird. And creepy." I elbowed my best friend. "Take one for the team, Leebs." She sighed. "Ugh, fine, I'll go on a date with him." Libra brushed back one long, curly strand of hair.
I noticed just how beautiful Leebs really was. It was no surprise that she had guys falling for her wherever she went. Apparently the only guy who didn't like her romantically was me. I didn't have a problem with that. I did suspect that there was a bit of a spark between Leo and Libra, but I also knew how much Libra hated Leo in freshman year. Still, I knew they'd look cute together.
"Sarge, stop staring at me, creep." Libra laughed. "C'mon, let's go sit with the others." We walked over to the others. "Leebs, here!" Aries patted a spot next to her. "No, here, Leebs!" Gemini gestured to a seat near her. "Leebs, if you want to sit with me..." Leebs let out an airy laugh. "Seriously, guys, thanks, but I'm sitting with Sarge." Leebs sank into a seat next to me. I looked over at Aries. "No hard feelings though, right?" Aries smiled, looking down at her feet. "No hard feelings."

Gemini decided to start the discussion. "Who are y'all nominating for sophomore rep on the student council?" I pointed at my best friend. "Leebs. 100%." Leebs shook her head frantically. "No, I don't want to, I already did this in freshman year-" Gemini pointed at Leebs too, as did Aries, Virgo, Capricorn, Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius, Cancer and Pisces. "Well, I suppose running again couldn't hurt." Leo looked up from his meal. "Hey, I might run too, ya know. Give Leebs a bit of competition."
Gemini (unintentionally) snorted while all the others averted their gazes. "Um, you're not competition for Leebs." Leo frowned. "I mean, I was the only freshman quarterback ever..." Libra looked into Leo's eyes. "I say go for it, Leo. It would be nice to have a new face in the council." Leo smiled, his little dimple seeming unusually red. I was right-these two would make an adorable couple.
"Well then, may the most popular one win, because everyone knows leadership is a popularity contest at the loser school." Scorpio declared. Everyone nodded in agreement, settling down to eat their lunches. "Hey, Libra!" Libra turned, face-to-face with a group of 10 guys. The girl was basically a walking guy magnet. "Couldn't help but overhear you're going for rep." One of the guys wolf-whistled. "Well, a smart lady's a better one, that's what's up!" A few of them began to holler. Leebs seemed to be trying not to wrinkle her nose.
Leo frowned, looking from one guy to the next. He then scooted across the table.... and kissed Libra's cheek.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
