it had been a couple days since my fainting incident but mattia was still insisting on keeping me in bed for as much of the day as possible.
'mattia, it's literally been like 3 days, i'm fine.' i moaned, 'let's go downstairs and make cookies or watch a film or something please.' i begged.
'y/n, i'm not letting you leave this bed until we're certain that you're okay, which means you're staying put until amber comes through with the test.' he said calmly, stroking my face.
i pushed him away from me.
'you're so annoying, you know that right.' i sighed angrily, turning away from him.
'i'm doing this for you, y/n, you'll thank me later.' he said, planting a kiss on my forehead as he stood up to leave.
i heard the door shut behind him and the sound of him moving downstairs.
he's literally making such a big deal out of nothing, i'm literally going insane in here
i tossed and turned in the bed, chewing my nails and wondering what mattia was doing. i considered trying to sneak out again but i knew mattia would just put me back like the last four times i tried.
i thought about the trial, i had been trying to ignore it and make the most of my time here but my mental calendar was constantly counting down, and today it was reminding me that we only had around 97 days until court.
the pace of my heart quickened at just the thought of the 10th of june, and eventually i fell asleep after hours of battling the urge to overthink.

i woke up to mattia's foot tapping on my shoulder, his hands occupied by the tray of food he held for me.
'ew stop that mattia.' i groaned, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.

'i brought you something to eat.' he smiled, clearly proud of himself.
'aw thank you, boyfriend of the year.' i said, sitting up as he laid it on my lap and sat down at the foot of the bed.
'hm, say it again.' he smirked.
'hm, no.' i replied, mocking him. 'i'm sorry about the stuff i said earlier, i'm just kinda stressed i guess.'
'don't apologize,' he sympathized, 'you haven't done anything wrong.'
i smiled at him through my full mouth as i chewed my food.
'vent to me,' he said 'what's on your mind.'
'i don't really know how to put it into words, but, do you ever just feel like something bad is gonna happen? like something terrible, and it's just coming closer and closer, and there's nothing you can do about it?' i explained, 'i don't know, i'm probably just being dramatic.'
'no, you're not.' he replied, 'i totally get you, i kinda feel it too. i feel like the trial coming up has gotten into my head, got me fucked up.'
'10th of june?' i said.
'10th of june.' he sighed.
'as long as we talk to each other about everything, we can get through this.' i tried to comfort him.
'yeah, i'm here for you all the time. emotionally and physically.' he chuckled.
'well.. could i come downstairs now?' i pleaded.
'fine.' he caved.
as we began walking down the stairs the sound of something hitting the floor and the front door clicking shut promptly caught my attention.
after we reached the bottom of the stairs, we caught sight of the package that lay on the front step for us, him and i both stiffened up, mattia squeezing my waist in attempt to release the tension that had just been created.
the pregnancy test lay on the ground, innocently staring up at us, obviously not understanding its own importance or power.

I was just like everyone else. At least, I thought so. Everyone grew up in a mansion with servants, trained to be a debutante, had a traveling archeologist for a father, and gave it all up to do whatever the hell they wanted. Right? Well that’s what I did. I was happy. As happy as a single twenty four year old girl can be living in an apartment selling shit online to pay the bills. Not actual shit, that's gross. No, I bought stuff from garage sales, thrift stores, and junk shops, and resold it in my online store. I was pretty good at finding stuff to peddle to my customers. I made rent every month and didn’t have to strip. I’m a bit too chunky to swing around a pole anyway. Life was great! Until two sexy men broke into my apartment and woke me up from the most erotic dream my sexually depraved mind could come up with. One was between my legs, the other was... Oh well, it was a dream and I didn’t even get to finish it. Those bastards! Now I’m supposed to believe my dead father wasn’t an archeologist, but some kind of paranormal agent working for a secret organization called The Guard. My ability to find items for my customers is just a perk inherited from him. And I’m supposed to use my inherited powers to save the world. All while these hunks of man flesh guard me from other paranormals out to get whatever the hell they think I have. A certain body part is dripping with excitement, literally. But my mind is saying “Hell No!”
