《Living together, apart》~4~

Half of the adults were busy, chattering while the other frantically got the DJ to start the slow music. All the chairs were picked up, so we wouldn't be able to sit down. I know I have a crush on Ryder and all, but I will literally embarrass myself. I cannot dance with him!

When I saw my mother looking the other way, and when Ryder was talking to his best friend I slowly backed away in the midst of the teens. The lights were dim, giving off a red hue and many of the Teens, were hand in hand dancing away.

I was leaned against the corner, in the far back. There was too much of a crowd for my parents to see, and I didn't think Ryder cared that I was gone. Maybe Camilla would have her chance with him or what not.

I felt the shadow, of someone in front of me. "Hmm"

"Oh-Uh, R-yder". I stammered

"Why are you over here? You're supposed to be dancing with me". He said, running his hands through his hair.

"I'm not a good dancer". I lied.

Of course I was a good dancer. My mother put me in ballroom dance classes, tango classes ect ect. I could tell he could see right through my lie, because he tilted his head skeptically.

"Just come and dance with me Ivy. Our parents will kill us you know that".

"You know my name?!" I asked in disbelief

"Yea?"

Taking note from my shocked quietness, he grabbed my hand and pulled me into the crowd. His touch, made me blush but thankfully he couldn't see it through the dim light. He pulled me into the center, as girls stared at us suspiciously. Ryder's best friend, Dylan patted him on the back, as he placed a hand on my waist and took my other hand.

We had been dancing for a bit, not speaking. I kept staring into space, because this was all too unreal for me. The DJ turned the slow music off and switched it with some fun pop music. Everybody around me was dancing doing crazy moves, while I stood there mortified. I love listening to pop music, but dancing to it has never been one of my best qualities. I tried to figure out how to pass time, but the answer came on it's own.

I felt something cold pour onto my back, as I was snatched out of Ryder's grip. I turned around and there stood Camilla, smirking. In her hand was one of those champagne glasses, that had been filled with sprite. She dumped her drink on me, on purpose.

"What the heck Camilla?" I shouted, trying to feel the dampness

"That's what you get for dancing with my boyfriend". She said snottily

"What type of obsessive psycho are you? He's not your fucking boyfriend".

"Watch it, your mother wouldn't like you swearing". She said

I turned around and noticed the nearby teens were watching us. Ryder stood sheepishly next to Dylan, who was obviously trying not to laugh. I guess if Ryder wasn't denying it, they might actually be together.

"Forget this! I'm leaving". I turned around.

I was pushing and shoving past, the gaping teens when a hand pulled my wrist.

It was Ryder looking at me in disbelief. "Are you really going to leave, because of Camilla?!"

"Of course I am!"

"Why?" He asked exasperated.

Why?! Is this boy out of his mind.

"Why do you care so much? Maybe if you had left me alone earlier this wouldn't have happened. I don't understand why you're acting like you care. You never acknowledged me before, so just let things go back to you acting like I don't exist. We'll figure something out in the fall." I rambled

He let go instantly, looking like he had been stabbed. I felt like a jerk, but there's nothing I can do now.

My crazy verbal diarrhea poured out. Dealing with Camilla is bad. But her embarrassing me in front of the other teens and my crush is too much. Today was a really important day, and I tried to make the most of it. I'd rather get lectured by my parents instead of staying in this hell hole. I don't know how I am going to survive living with him in the fall. I better make the most of my summer.

I sat on my balcony looking into the night sky, in my comfy PJ's. I told the Maids to tell my parents I was asleep, but they barged in my room anyways using a spare key. They were full on yelling at me, but in the end I promised to try harder in the fall and they were satisfied. *Cue the Dramatic sigh*
